  • WD Black SN750 is better than this right?

    • +2

Even if they were equal in price and performance, I'd still get SN750 for the heatsink.

Edit: just notice the cheap SN750 is the one without heatsink =))

      • +5

The SX8200 Pro also comes with a heatsink included.

        • +2

Oh really? That's nice. I remember reading reviews a while ago this Adata is among the fastest NVME (before PCIe 4). So probably just get whichever is cheaper? They're both top performers.

        • Are you sure about this?

          • @kisshell9: If you look at the image, it says DIY Heatsink so it should be included

            • @soggypotato: I bought this exact one a couple weeks back (paid more). Can confirm, comes with a pretty nice and thin heatsink.

        • +1

shame I order the SN750 without heatsink a few days ago and it shipped today, otherwise would have gotten this, slightly better benchmark and have a heatsink

          • +2

@ln28909: I got the p1 for $132 and sold it.
Was trying to get sn750 but got sad as the deal had expired.
Just got this.. Happy even though its $10 more than sn750 deal.

            • @kisshell9: how much money did you make

              • @gram: $58 so essentially got this ssd for $223.94 - $58 = $166

        • +2

I wouldn't really call it a heatsink, more like a metal sticker. It't probably half a mm thin.

Seems about the same in most categories, but seems to have an incredibly good showing for sustained write speeds. Even surpassing the 970 evo

    • SN750 is a faster drive with 515k/560k IOPS versus SX8200 Pro 390k/380k IOPS. Also the SN750 has DDR4 DRAM versus DDR3

It uses a metalic sticker to distribute the heat. The memory modules like heat, the controllers don't so it's a bit of a balancing act for the manufacturers.

I've had mine as a game storage drive since December, no issues at all and is crazy fast for large transfers. Load times are identical to my 850 Evo boot drive, which is consistent with everything I've seen on review videos.

  • These are good, and finally prices are coming down. Pre-Xmas I think they were occasionally about $200.

Silly question, but where can you get the M.2 screw from?

I'm missing it on my MB, and every time i have visited a PC store they don't have them available to purchase.

    • +4

Search NVME screw on eBay. Plenty come up.

  • Why not store two nvme in one ssd shell, and have 2tb attached via a sata cable.

    • Heat?

      • I'm sure someone has done this right on DIY YouTube? A external ssd case, with slit cuts all over the case to dissipate heat, with a external sata cable in usb 3.0.

Wouldn't mind trying it out, doubt it's ever been done.

It's in the ethos of Oz bargains.

External Nvme external ssd, ahh didn't know they commercially exist shht.

        • +3

Why would you buy nvme drives if you are connecting them over USB3? Just buy 2x SATA M.2 drives and 2x m.2 -> usb3 enclosures. That way you get full bandwidth of usb3 from each drive, if you had two in one case they would be fighting for usb3 bandwidth.

          • @Agret: Because why not, it's slightly faster then ssd, and the costs on par.

And curiosity always does what curious minds do.

Just curious what freaky creations could be made.

  • Has this expired? Showing up as $246 for me.

    • Its still showing up $223.94 for me

  • Looks like this deal is back for $224.19 + Delivery (Free with prime). Hopefully, my gift card arrives early before it expires again.

  • Merged from [Back Order] ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB $227.30 + Delivery ($0 with Prime) @ Amazon US via AU

Great little drive for a very competitive price. Rated 640 TBW, 3500MB/s Read, 3000MB/s Write and performs just about on par with the 970 Evo Plus and in some tests equals the 970 Pro.

Currently a pre-order for early July arrival.

ADATA = Lost Data. Have had all my ADATA DDR 2 & 3 RAM fail. Buyer beware

      • Bougth this M.2 roughly 3 months ago. Used it in a Dell XPS 15 daily for hours, 0 problems. Paid 250 so this is a good price.

      • ADATA XPG has good reviews
        It's fast

Back when I was building heaps of PC’s; Some RAM failed early but most would fail after a couple of years. Not worth the risk. Better off with the cheaper WD Black drive IMO.
