Lids for these are cir $40 each.

  • Perfect use of a set of 2 “impact” fry pans. Now I only need a tennis ball.

Would not recommend these. Better to go to Ikea and get their clad pans instead.

With the disk base these are really unresponsive to heat changes and the walls of the pan where the disk isn't are very thin and get hotter than anywhere else on the pan and burn easily

Thanks for the review. Cancelled my order. Will wait for an ikea sale.

sorry, cooking noob here. is it easy to clean? i'm using tefal non stick pan right now and i'm just paranoid of the chemicals leaching into my food. i would love to buy a stainless steel one but i'm afraid it's hard to clean. i'm reading online of either using vinegar, baking soda, or salt to remove the burnt food

You need to preheat the pan well before cooking but once you do that properly, it doesn't stuck a lot. Cleaning wise, all you have mentioned should do the tricks.

Just season then, works a treat

          • @zemphism: Thank you so much guys! I’ll buy one then

          • @zemphism: Hmm similar to what you do with the carbon steel woks. Good to know it works for stainless as well.

            How long does it goes?

            • @moonphase: I just got the ikea ones. I just seasoned them. I would think you would have to do it after heavy use. Took virtually 5 mins to season though

I’ve got these for my induction cook top and i love them! Easy to clean if you leave hot water in it to soak for a bit before cleaning. I also now put a teaspoon of coconut oil into the pan to melt before wiping clean and then using oil to cook. Has reduced the amount of food that gets stuck significantly.

      • Have you watched dark waters yet?

Yeah, we have a couple of these and a bunch of other Scanpan stuff in the house. Hoping to replace it all soon as it all turned out to be rubbish.

  • Paid $53 for these two days ago.. i had $15 account credit on amazon AU :)

I don't recommend scampan as a rule in general. For low end consumer cookware you're better off with even the ikea pans, or a baccarat.

We had these and stopped using them. Had bought them in response to our anodised pans not being able to handle heat. But these metal ones stick like hell. Yes, you're supposed to season them and all, but somehow it didn't work out and they just became gross to look at.

    • I’ve never heard of seasoning a stainless steel pan, only cast iron. Have you noticed a difference by seasoning before?

      • I have definitely noticed that stainless steel pans stick more if you clean them too well. And I believe seasoning applies to them too.

    • They don't need to be seasoned. Just make sure they are hot before you pour in your oil. How hot? Flick some water into a dry heated pan, and if the water droplets form little balls that skirt around the pan, it's hot enough. If the water just sizzled and evaporates, it's not.

      • Hmm…. I will try that next time. Thanks. I figured I had to be doing something wrong :)
