        elong.net or ctrip.com. I have used and can reccomend both. You can often find 5-star for less than $100 per night.

  For hotel deals in Japan (or China/Korea for that matter), it is worth checking out travel.rakuten.co.jp/en/. Rakuten is a Japanese version of Amazon and have a very good website.

  Excellent price, +1.
  Shinjuku is a very convenient place to stay in Tokyo as it has one of the major train stations. It is close to a huge shopping complex (I think it's Takashimaya) with a whole floor dedicated to (cooked) food. Shinjuku-gyoen (garden) is definitely worth a visit. The train station itself has lots of shops and eateries above it.

  Such a good deal, I wanted to stay at this hotel earlier this year when I went to japan, but it was around 250 a night and out of my reach. The location of this hotel is ace! right in the middle of all the buz in shinjuku!
