Pretty good deal for a 350w bandsaw. Closest thing Bunning have to it at 350w $339 not that you can compare apples with apple bu at $129 worth have one in the shed especially give Aldi return policy.

200m throat depth
80mm cutting capacity
Table adjustment: 0° to 45°
Table size: 300mm x 300mm
1 Year Warranty
45° table tilt
Long rip fence for accurate, straight cuts

The Wood Lathe 400W also seems good at $149 but it's not my area of interest.

Looks like a clone of the Scheppach HBS30, review here

    • Good find seems like a good one for the price. Note in the YT comments the price of the Scheppach was 149 euros.

    • Yes looks a good unit for the price

Aldi selling a Xiaomi powerbank (pg 6). That's an Ozbargain double word score!

Wonder if Bunnings will match like they did some years ago

  • Forget the tools look at the 32" monitor! yay.

Just a reminder that this is as good as you imagine it will be.

I have one from ALDI from a few years ago (not ferrex brand, but looks identical).

The guide won’t stay square, the blade will twist and flex, and for me, the table top gave up the ghost after very little use … but it’s handy to quickly get down to size jobs for the kids and their school assignments (near enough is good enough).

If you are serious about wood working, obviously this isn’t for you.

If you find yourself with a bunch of odd jobs from time to time, like cutting some PVC conduit to length, this is hand to have set up. Turn on, BRAAAAAAAP, done.

Though it does take up room. As soon as you find yourself needing the room and relocating it to the back of the garage … getting it out when you need it is a pain, as it’s heavy and awkward.

    • I'm hoping Bunnings will match with something OK - I have a $100 voucher that I need to use.

  • Not sure if I need it but can be handy to have lol

  • Anyone have any idea how big the clamps would be?

  • They need to sell prison shanks, then i'd have a chance of getting the one bandsaw our local Aldi will get in stock.

    Avoid the lathe.

Most lathes are made from solid/cast steel to reduce vibration. This model (which is a design that's been used for at least the last 20+ years) vibrates like crazy, and there's nothing solid about it. The rails are hollow tube steel, which only increases vibration instead of dampening it. Using this type of lathe will only lead to frustration.

Source: I have one exactly like this that's at least 25 years old, if not closer to 35. I got it for nothing, but it's not good for much other than roughly turning tool handles, etc.

Nice to see Aldi don't have a photo of someone using a bench chisel with the lathe though like last time. That's a really quick and easy way to find yourself in hospital. Wood turning requires proper wood turning tools, not normal bench chisels. And even a beginner set would set you back more than the cost of this lathe.

2 litres of milk, a loaf of bread, and, oh, a band saw.

  • +1

Anyone knows when the table saw is coming?

  • I'll take one of everything on those 2 catalog pages. It stuffs me why Aldi don't offer preorder of the weekly specials, delivered to your local - they'd make a motza and you would probably get your milk and stale bread whilst you were there. These aren't loss leaders they still make some money on them.

    • The whole concept is totally weird to me.
Motorbike helmet this week, weed killer next week. Repeat in a year.
Surely they could make this a bit more customer-friendly…

      • Couldn't agree more marketing is as stale as the bread.

      • It's all about getting lots of different people into shop, in the hope they'll buy "something" … ;)

        • At some point you must recognize your strength and focus on it though.

      • They can sell a wide range of stuff cheaper in a compact shop keeping costs down.

        • I wish someone invented something where you don't have to have a physical store but still accept orders from customers and somehow give it to them after they paid.

I swear businesses using this idea could grow to value over US$1 trillion. I mean, of course, if someone invented this idea.

Until then, helmet this week, weed killer next.

  • What's wrong here… Why are the catalogs containing the goods that have been prophesised not appearing on the Aldi website?

Javascript blocker was the problem for me (nexuspublications.com.au).
PDF download didn't seem to work either even without ad/javascript blocker but here is the link

  • Anyone have an idea about the the "premium drill and bit set"? Am i better waiting for amazon to drop the prices on a branded kit?

  • What do we think the chances are that Bunnings will come to the party on this? They have a pretty pathetic Ozito one at a bit more, but I'm hoping they go hard on the Ryobi: https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-350w-230mm-bandsaw_p621045…

I didn't think they would do it for the thicknesser I got a while back, but they did - reckon that wasn't quite as big a discount though…

    • they matched the last one so hopefully yes.

      • Matched the Ryobi or the Ozito?

        • That's the big question - I'm not that interested in $20 off the Ozito, but if there is a discounted Ryobi on offer then I'm in.

  • A quick question, how fine are the teeth, can you cut acrylic with that or it is only for timber? Thanks

  • Bunnings haven't matched on the Ryobi yet online, here's hoping…

    • I popped into Bunning (Cannon Hill) yesterday and had a chat. They said they would no the matching it and there was no direction from head office to drop the price.

      • Very disappointing, I held onto my voucher instead of picking up some Ozito gear just in case.

    • i think that's a big FU from bunnings. they wouldn't even price match the more expensive but inferior ozito model :)

  • i picked one up this morning. they were literally flying out the door. all gone after about 5 minutes of me sticking one in a trolley

    • Yes indeed they went fast. I had to visit three stores before I managed to get one (the last one in that store).

    • So how is it?

      • +1

i haven't had time to open the box yet

        • much suspense. very wait

  • Aldi Ashfield still has some stock.

  • Sadly Bunnings have dropped the price for the Ozito bandsaw to match the Aldi one. Guess I'm not getting one. Really wanted them to price drop the Ryobi one.

  • I visited 3 stores but it's gone. Anyone knows if it is still available in northern/western suburbs of Melbourne?

  • What's the chance of retiurning (for replacememt/re[aor), without receipt? My blade is blunt an Ox

    • i don't know. what did you try and cut? you can always buy a new blade. the manual gives you the specs

    • Did you pay with credit card/EFT?
You can show them the transaction as proof of purchase.
