  • Been thinking of purchasing a robotic vacuum cleaner for my parents who like to vacuum everyday. They live in a relatively small house with hardwood and tile flooring, but as mum's going through chemo now, I want to reduce housework for her. Is it worth pulling the trigger on this deal? I've heard Ecovacs and iRobot were also good purchases.

I had the same idea for my parents as they have cats and floorboards. I got a Xiaomi model.

They never used it because it takes so long (about an hour for the house, 2 bedrooms) and it's noisy (even microwave level sound can be annoying for an hour) and they have to avoid it when it's working.
Alternatives can be if you set it to automatically vacuum before they wake up, or if they go outside every day set it to that time.

It also turns out they liked the routine of vacuuming. Best ask them for their opinion.

I use it in my apartment now and it's very convenient for me as I can run it every day when I leave the house and have the floors feel fresh when I return.

      Hope this helps!

I got my folks one of the Xiaomi Mi Robot's from Kogan as they were constantly vacuuming after their dog and it does an amazing job in their place. I've been looking for one myself and tossing up between the same model or a Xiaomi 1C, but which do mapping, but now this has me mightily interested.

Allow me to suggest a Neato. 4 years ago it cost us around AUD 700ish (from the US) - life is a breeze. IMO you really get what you pay for. Chose that due to several recommendations and back then the roomba or whatever i8 was out
