The 1460 is the original Dr. Martens boot. Its boot's recognizable DNA looks like this: 8 eyes, classic Dr. Martens Smooth leather, grooved sides, a heel-loop, yellow stitching, and a comfortable, air-cushioned sole. Built to last, this unisex boot is made using one of the finest methods of construction: the Goodyear Welt — which means the upper and sole are sewn together in our heat-sealed z-welt stitch. The boot sits on our iconic AirWair™ sole, which is oil and fat resistant with good abrasion and slip resistance, and is made with Smooth, a lightly textured, highly durable leather with a soft sheen. Use our Wonder Balsam to keep your boots clean, protect the leather, and keep it soft and supple. This boot tends to have a wider fit so we recommend going a size down.
Dr. Martens 1460 SMOOTH $183.99 (Was $249.99)

Too bad they're not made in the UK anymore so not AS punk.
Still good for HK protesters though.Solovair were the producer of Docs in the UK and are still making boots to this day (their own shoes and Docs’ “made in the UK” range) if you’re after UK made.
@jjjaar: The more you know. I don't really care where they're made. Still a good boot.
8 pairs of eyes
Size down definitely recommended.
If you've never bought new Docs I will warn you now - They take ages to wear in and you will experience blisters (wear thick socks and use elastoplast) but once they're worn in they're the most durable and comfortable boots. I've had a pair for years and I love them, good at gigs and out getting on the piss.
Wear them in the rain and jump in puddles if you want to wear them in quicker. There are a million ways people wear them in but I think rainy days are the best, I'm not one of those people keen on wearing them in the shower though. Thanks, OP! Been wanting to grab a pair for a while.
Built to last
Unfortunately not anymore. I’ve gone through two pairs in 10 years, but a pair I bought from an op shop about 15 years ago (likely made in the 80s/90s) is still going strong.
Yes, ~5 years wear is ok for shoes, but when older versions made 30 years ago are still good, it’s really disappointing.
I saw it, before Amazon sold 70 aud but size 10
Thanks so much for posting this! haha i grabbed a pair off amazon, such a good price!
link?
Size 8UK+ available for $150 at The Iconic using promo code CBAOWEEK (unisex one not sure if there is a difference). https://www.theiconic.com.au/unisex-1460-smooth-8-eye-boots-…
I picked up a pair of surplus 'Britsh AB Boots' from Mitchells Adventures in Melbourne for just shy of $100. They are made by Dr. Marten and are very similar to the retail 8 eyes Dr. Martens but have the following differences:
Black not yellow stitching around the sole
They have a vinyl not leather tongue
The branding on the sole has been removed with a wire brush
The pull tabs are plain black
They don't come with laces
they seem slightly poorer quality/ poorer QAI prefer the lack of branding/yellow stitching so they were a good deal for me. They aren't on the Michelle's website but there might be stock in-store, been surplus they had limited sizing.
Nah will rather spend $100 more for Docs
looks like its back to $259.99 (plenty of other still at the lower price though)
Shows as $259.99 for me, but then comes down to $233 in cart? (not sure why?)
oh.. checkout gives me 10% off…. hmm.. still not the $183…
Me too, not sure what that's about. Guess I don't really need a new pair of boots :/
These look like shoes that some sort of activists would wear
