R. M. Williams Comfort Craftsman Boots $624 Delivered @ The Iconic

HEYICONIC75

Since RM's are the holy grail of aus corp footwear thought I would share this little hack I've done recently.

  1. Get your actual sized measured in store. The sizes they have are very different to normal. EG im a US mens 9.5 but im a 6.5wide on RM williams.

  2. Purchase off The Iconic. Use $75 off 350 spend promotion Code : HEYICONIC75
Use 6% giftcards @ macquarie marketplace to pay for the rest. this will bring the total down to $587.5 (16.13% saving)
Price will depend on which colour you get but the classic black and chestnut don't go on much discount.

  3. RM williams actaully lets you exchange your shoes in store for 1/2 size up or switch to narrow/wide in your same size. This is great as online retailers dont stock 1/2 sizes and narrow or wide just regular.

Also an employee was telling me the RM williams sold in store are actaully higher quality ones (made more recently) and the lower quality ones get sent to these outlets.

16.13% of RM Williams Comfort Craftsman

How do they decide which 16.13% of the boot I get?

Ugh 624 is still too much for a pair. They’re really not worth it at this price.

      TL;DR:

use $75 off code and discounted giftcards.

this will bring the total down to $587.5 (16.13% saving)

And if your true size is one of the 1/2 sizes eg 11.5 just buy the 11 online and exchange it for free in store at RM Williams.

      • Didn't know about returns! How does this work? I've just bought a pair of boots which are a half-size off my ideal fit…

      • Ugh 587 is still way too much for a pair. They are not worth it at this price.

    • So true. I can understand a designer label but not RM Williams.Such an overrated boot.

The quality has gone to the dogs for these particular boots and they rely on the brand name to exploit people who don't do the research. Better off with a pair of boots from Aquila imo.

Or dynamic flex for $450 from Myer

  • Not bought a pair in about 10 years, which I suppose is a comment for quality, but I also remember them being about $500 or thereabouts. $587 on "sale" just seems ridiculous.

$87 is about 17.4% inflation, over 10 years that's pretty good. Its cheaper now when adjusting for purchasing power.

They're also a completely different boot these days. Reviews of people who saw them and half and actually inspect them show their quality has taken a nosedive. They totally sold-out quality for profit margins.

        Good to know.

Get Comfort Craftsman not the Dynamic Flex.

    • My first pair from 2004 is still around (have been re-soled twice), but I'm positive it was nowhere near as expensive back then (maybe even half). My parents wouldn't have paid $700 for a pair of school shoes. At this price point, there are so many other heritage brands you can look at, like Red Wing to Paraboot. $700 for a nice-looking but thin leather pair of Chelsea boots with elastic sides is madness.

      • That far back I bought a pair of these for $330. Usually get at least ten years of practically everyday use out of them with infrequent heel replacements. I usually reward my self with each decadal birthday.
My last pair about a year ago were $450 or so delivered from the RMW outlet. The sizes did not match and so they were replaced with new by RMW.
Never pay full price, and this doesn’t seem much of a deal

        • Unfortunately that has not been my experience. My current ones are about 2.5 years old. Had to get heel rubber replaced every 6 months. Costs $30 on each side. And then despite using the leather wax regularly, they have started to have cracks on the top. And where my pinky sticks out, it started to drill a hole in there. Turns out, when you purchase them, you have to take them to a shoe shop and get them stretched, otherwise the leather conforms around the foot and starts to wear down. They should have told me when i had bought these. I ended up getting mister minit guys to put a small leather piece inside with glue but thats all they can do to stop the wear. So far, it has slowed down to keep them usable.

Hasn’t been the same since nungar lost their distribution rights for the boots

    • They were $440 in 2015 when I bought my first pair.

People are amazed that min are 10 years old although I do alternate between a black and brown pair day to day and don't walk to work in them either.

  • Didn't realise they went up in price again! They were $649RRP when I got mine in August. Ended up paying about $550 with discounted gift cards etc.

  • 2000 qantas points + $300 or no deal.

  • So glad I got two while it was $350 ish!

  • What's the deal here? Boots are listed at their RRP and this code is only for new customers. Cheaper here without the code: https://mainstreetclothing.com.au/products/rm-williams-comfo…
