stack it with the AMEX cashback

  • Need PS4 console deals.

    • Mindful that the PS5 is due in November

      • +3

        Need preorder PS5 deal instead?

  • +4

Considering that everything on their website seems to be at just RRP, isn't this then not exactly a deal? Unless of course you request a pricematch at another store, but how does that work with being able to get the pricematch and the 12% cashback being tracked?

    • +7

not sure why you got neg, you are just stating the fact.

    • True , was trying to look for bargains but just RRPs galore.

  • +5

The pricing on their tv's are a joke… let alone those camera prices!

  • +1

Note that none of the TV's on there are HDMI 2.1 capable.

It's not going to be a point of importance to all, but for those considering next gen consoles it might be better off going for a different brand or waiting until the new x90h.

    • The x95g has eARC, thus HDMI 2.1

      • +2

It has eARC but not full HDMI 2.1 spec. for example, not full 48Gbps, etc. It has all the main specs though. I wish I could find one at a decent price now….

    • I didn't think any 2020 Sony had 2.1?

Regardless, there's some rumours even the G models do have it and could get it

      • The x90h has full 2.1 capabilities

    • It's definitely nice to have, but in practice it's essentially useless at this point as there's nothing to use that 4k@120hz for unless you're running a computer off of one

      • Yep I agree with you and I've tossing up whether to buy a 95g or wait. I decided to wait because I've been using my current 55" Bravia for almost 11 years now. Probably not such a huge issue if you flip tv's every couple of years.

        • That and it'd be unlikely console games hit 4l/120hz very often anyway….

        • Do we know a timeframe of when the X95H is expected to be available?

It's listed on Sony's site with no pricing.

          • @lint: Only the 90h has full 2.1 capabilities weirdly.

From what I read it's probably going to come out in August.

            • @malich: That's what I heard as well. Yikes, August, so far away…

The sale is a joke. No bargains. You can use the $20 voucher on a $20.97 earphone and pay 97c.

    • Minimum spend is $50

      • +2

yea, just read the crappy T&Cs

Sony price jacked a bunch of items during this frenzy
    This -> https://store.sony.com.au/headphones-inear/WISP500P.html#sta… from $52 to $129
    https://store.sony.com.au/headphones-inear/WIC310N.html from $77 -> $109.95

    NOT COOL SONY

    • +2

Something weird going on, they were showing up fine at those prices at 12pm but have now reverted to RRP. Think they're just trying to sort out the pricing still as they're not showing "Sony Frenzy" on the listings anymore.

      • +1

Agree with you, they aren't a small retailer. Imo they should be beyond the price jacking techniques. Must be updating prices and possible caching issues

      • Think they're just trying to sort out the pricing

Sounds like removing any chance of a good deal to me

        • +1

They haven't adjusted any of the TV or Camera prices yet, so they're probably either trying to fix in the background, or waiting till 7pm when the Frenzy actually goes live..

          • @doweyy: Was thinking the same, so I initiated a web chat regarding the price of the 55 X95G at $1895 and I received a follow-up email stating that it is already at the sale price! Surely this is incorrect, black friday this tv was $1695 down to $1610 with TA's additional code. Will wait and see…

            • @newgas: Shame. Was hoping for a good deal, but these are last year's tv's at pretty much RRP prices. Even with 12% cashback, $100 AMEX and a $20 coupon the prices are just not worth it :(

    • +1

PS .They reverted the price :P and I cannot edit my post anymore

    • Do you know if either of these have decent mic performance?

    • Agree. I was looking for a 55 inch TV just last week on Sony website and price tag was under $1000 ($950 or something) for the cheapest model. Today all models are $1100+
      Good luck Sony

  • Walkman anniversary edition looks sexy. :-)

  • They've also got items on their "frenzy" page that don't seem to be on sale at all.

  • How the hack can the WH-1000XM3 be priced at $449 during Click Frenzy.

  • Can the $20 voucher be used aswell

    • +1

Good question. You could risk losing $100's of cashback on a tv by using a $20 coupon.

    • Last time i got an OLED (One of those coupons around Jac 2019) They approved cashback on the $6000 RRP, not the $3000 i paid.
It subsequently broke mid year and they replaced with the updated model haha.

Did Sony Aus just massively jack up prices. The STRDH590 AV Receiver was $389 during last year's frenzy, with a non sale price of $599. It's listed at $749 on their website now!!! This is a receiver that goes for non discounted price of 250 USD on the US website. WTFFFFF …

Why the upvotes? even with the cashback there are no deals on the website

  • Marketing. Generate fake bargains to create a "feeding frenzy".
Discounts on jacked prices, back to square more or less.

    • +2

It's not the fault of Cashrewards. I'm sure they don't know in advance what prices Sony will put out there, and 12% is a very impressive rate (though insufficient to compensate for the crazy RRP prices). In the past, Sony has had good bargains. But this time, Sony simply created a fake sale, put a subset of its products in it at the same or lower prices, put up a sign saying "frenzy pricing activates at 12 noon", and then kept prices the same. I'd been watching a tv for a while to see what price they would put it at, and it simply hasn't changed.

Cashrewards and TA are excellent. Sony not so much.
