    • names checks out

  • No luck to submit the form.

  • It is free.
    It is targeted.
Do I think that their marketing is good? nope.

I don't have a problem with helping those that are in the 'front line', but that is not all of the people in the Healthcare industry, and there are plenty of other workers who are on the 'front line' that are excluded from this offer.
But, hey, it was easy to think up, might get them some publicity.

    • They need to validate who medical workers are. Also other Frontline workers need a validation as well. At least, AHPRA number is a kind of way for it. Do you have a better idea for the validation?

      • Validation of who can get this 'targeted offer' is one of the problems.
They obviously put some thought into it, but in defining how they will validate this has actually moved away from the probable intended beneficiaries (i.e. the people who are 'at risk' whilst doing their job).
Rather than that specific group of beneficiaries, the validation criteria has expanded the scope to anyone with a AHPRA number (regardless if they are actually undertaking those roles).

Obviously, there are many others in the 'front line' that don't have AHPRA numbers, as they aren't in that profession / employment.

Yeah, i don't understand this "Healthcare worker" BS.

It's their god damn job. These aren't volunteers who are risking their lives for the benefit of others. These people are getting paid to do what they were trained to do.

Why don't police officers get the same treatment? They are out there risking their lives everyday.

      So stupid.

      • +3

No, that is not my point.
I don't think working at a testing station set up in a cold, windy shopping centre car park is 'doing their job'. It is above and beyond.
Same with working in the specific COVID ICUs, etc.

Plenty of places offer police (and emergency services in general) discounted meals, free coffees and other freebies year round.

We don't need free stuff and we do not need charity, we still have jobs. It's getting embarrassing tbh.

  • +2

People moaning about them getting free stuff shouldn't look at all the free stuff millionaires celebrities and 'influencers' get….

I heard when she was ambassador Jen Hawkins was giving complementary 3k a week to spend at Myer just so she could be seen in store…

    I don't think I spend 3k a year on cloths!

  • Thanks I don't need it , send the coffee to Singapore, USA, UK, Belgium, Spain, Italy…etc

DUE TO THE UNSURPRISING DEMAND FOR OUR DELICIOUS PRODUCT, COFFEE MIO IS UNABLE TO FULFIL YOUR ORDER AS QUICKLY AS ANTICIPATED.

WE HAVE ALTERED OUR TERMS AND CONDITIONS, SUCH THAT IN ORDER TO REDEEM YOUR COFFEE, YOU MUST COLLECT FROM OUR ROASTERY LOCATED AT:

      Unsurprising demand…another marketing fail

    • id be happy to collect

  • +1

Apparently I have to collect the coffee in person. This is disappointing. Not worth my time travelling to and from to collect this. Why make a commitment when you cant honour it. When you offer free coffee you have to expect great demand, there's no other possible situation. In retrospect, this feels like a publicity gimmick.

    • +2

Shipping costs and the knowledge that less people will be willing to jump through hoops to take advantage of the offer. If the demand was "unsurprising" surely there should not be a problem.

    Picked up this morning.

Espresso blend. Looks like their entry level. $35/kg. Very friendly service. 30% off voucher given with the coff.

They've had 2.5k registrants. They get "a bunch" coming through on the afternoons for their claim.

    To try…

    • Did they ask for ID verification/email proof? Might try to send a friend to pick up mine

      • +1

They ask for your AHPRA registration number and place of work, and check it on their record of registration.

I had a copy of my AHPRA certificate, the email printed, and one of my hospital ID cards. But they didn't go through it. I would have each of those on-hand to be sure.

        • Thank you. Enjoy the coffee!

        • How is the coffee? How does it compare to the beans you usually get?

(Just out of interest, for future reference - ie. if a deal on these beans ever comes up again!) :)

          • +2

@caprimulgus: I'm loving them. I'm pulling thick shots with good crema, great taste.

I'm not the best to judge though. I only got my first manual espresso machine in Dec and have been trying to make my way through 2kg of Publo & Rusty blend (free redemption), so I've gone from very old beans to freshly roasted and I'm obviously impressed by the difference lol

            • +2

@poshjimmyxo: Ah nice! Barista Express, I take it?

The Pablo & Rusty beans seem to be well loved on Ozbargain, so if you are liking these more than the Pablo & Rusty (granted the P&R not being fresh), these must be decent beans.

But yeah, fresh beans definitely the most important thing! Have a look into freezing beans (controversial topic, but I am a believer!), if you want to keep bulk lots like that from going stale:

              • +1

                @caprimulgus: Yep, the BES870. Got it at ~$470 with 2kg P&R.

I've only just started freezing. I put half of this kilo in my grinder and in an air-tight container for my next refill, and the other half in the freezer. Will judge how the second half goes…
