Nyko Zoom for Kinect - $26 - Harvey Norman

240

This is a great price for a potentially great product…from what I have been reading, it works really well for around half the people that try it, but not so much for the other half, so keep your receipt ; )

Around $35 elsewhere.

  • been waiting for this thanks mate

  • Does it work good? Is it like using Kinect without it but with it? In other words, no issues?

I want to try this too. but HN is a pain in the ass with refunds in case it doesnt work.

  • Sweet, thanks for the heads up! Was looking for these a while back and could only find em for $50+ on eBay

  • Nice! I've bought it from ozgameshop for $33.99 once it release BUT what a shame I still waiting for the delivery. :( very slow….
Better to get one out shop and it's cheap.

  • Got mine from Ozgameshop today but haven't had a chance to try it yet.

    • Hope you can post your review

Really hoping this device makes Kinect work in my room without any issues what so ever

      • A few days ago I got mine from Ozgameshop and it doesn't work for me. I'd say don't buy it.

        • Can you tell us why it doesnt work for you. Going by all the reviews online it works but will not work if you already have a large room

        • To answer your Q Twisty, my room is large enough to play single player but not multi-player. So I guess you could call my play space medium sized.

  • It's a great price for a perhaps useful accessory that should never have been needed. I personally refuse to pay for an add-on for an already expensive product that should have worked in smaller spaces in the first place. I think we are a LONG way from a properly accurate console sensor device. Wii/Move/Kinect are hit-miss, another bunch of rushed products like 3DS that should have spent longer in R&D and testing depos.

I think it would be a better message to refuse to pay for the expensive product that didn't work in small places, rather than the add on that helps correct the issue?

  • So, what's the science behind this? Can anyone confirm how well this works?

    • Fisheye Lens is the science. Used in many other applications such as a SLR/DSLR.
Distortion of image towards the sides will happen.

Also this is purely for close proximity, there is plenty of reviews saying it is BAD for rooms which are already big enough to play Kinect.

  • Harvey Norman (Fyshwick, ACT) has not received any stock yet. It's supposedly being shipped today and will be here by Friday.

    I left a $5 deposit on it.

  • Best position to put it is under tv, not above tv. It doesn't work properly if you use it above your TV, or at eye level.

    • But there is no other option, if you have younger kids around, who always are fascinated with the moving camera, its good to put it over TV.

  • I was tempted to get one myself too, but i seen so many bad user reviews on this product on few forums and youtube. the zoom is good idea just too bad nyko stuff is just always rubbish.
