Hisense 2 Days Dead on Arrival Warranty

Are you aware of the 2 days dead on arrival warranty proudly backed by Hisense? If so what do you think when compared with other manufacturers?
Edit: Hisense T&Cs does not state 2 days DOA warranty but during the warranty period its option is to repair or replace meaning it can always choose to repair even if it dies on the first day?

    Unnecessary with Australian consumer law

I have submitted a complaint. Let's see if Hisense can get away from the 2 days dead on arrival warranty. Lesson learned, next time just get an ALDI Bauhn TV that comes with 60 satisfaction guarantee at 1/3 of the price.

      • Ok.

  • On what day did it die?

        Plot twist:

Hisense, make sure you can pick up from the store because of the 2 days DOA warranty counts from the date of purchase.

        wtfnodeal on 17/04/2020 - 17:58

Just to let you know if you are thinking of buying one please pick it up from a store instead of having it delivered. Hisense has 2 days dead on arrival replacement warranty and counts from the date of purchase not date of delivered. If you receive it on the 3rd day and it doesn't turn on you will need to have it repaired instead.

So it makes me question this comment:

        I have submitted a complaint.

        OP works for a competitor?

Obviously knew about all this 20 days ago! At least. Or is this all just supposed to be some sort of PSA?

@pegaxs: LOL I bought the 65N7 model from HN. 2.5 years ago. Flickering problem on 6th day but Hisense refused to replace told me to get it repaired without a loaner.

@wtfnodeal: Let me get this right: your TV was dead on arrival but a couple of days later, it flickered back to life. This resurrection happened close to the Easter Weekend. Is that correct ? Because if it is , plot twist to plot twist to plot twist to plot twist , your tv is Jesus! 🤯

              • @[Deactivated]: Dead on arrival means it doesn't turn on at all or it also means doesn't function properly as it should? I can change the title if that is misleading.

        • Plot twist to plot twist's plot twist…

If you do not agree to the terms and conditions and do not use or damage the Television, then within 7 days from the date of original purchase from the relevant retailer you may return the Television to that retailer in as new condition and obtain a refund (subject to the return policy of that retailer).

If you don't agree with their warranty policy, you have 7 days to box it up and return it.

Also, in their "Warranty Disclaimer", there is no mention of this "2 day DOA guarantee"…

          • @pegaxs: The customer service lied to me then. It told me it was in the T&Cs 2 days not 7 days.

It was 2 and a half years ago and you're only just now bringing up this public service announcement?

              T&Cs 2 days not 7 days.

7 days is for non-agreement with warranty terms and conditions. There is NO mention of their "Dead on Arrival" policy.

              customer service lied to me

Customer service for whom? Hisense or the retailer you purchased from?

Yeah I don't get that either. Vendetta much!

@spackbace: It had flickering problem on the sixth day and now developed a crack. I wouldn't think Hisense customer support would not cover it under warranty so here I am to discuss whether anyone is aware of it and if it is same for all manufacturers. Is that too late to discuss it here or better late than never?

                  • @wtfnodeal: 2.5 years later, with wrong information forming the basis of a forum post… I'm sure you can appreciate why we can find the massive holes in the argument.

@spackbace: If it is just flickering I don't care as much as it is just the kids watch the TV most of the time although I was surprised to find out Hisense 2 days DOA warranty when I contacted them 6 days after the purchase. But given the repair agent assessed and mentioned the screen crack after 2.5 years could have something to do with the flickering problem it had been having and yet Hisense still insisted not to cover it under the warranty was totally unacceptable. The discussion here is whether anyone is aware of other manufacturers have 2 days DOA warranty or just Hisense.

Buttt… that's been proven to be misinformation

                        • @spackbace: Which words exactly on the title or body of the discussion contains misinformation?

                      • @wtfnodeal:

                        2 days DOA warranty

You keep saying this like it means something. It doesn't. You don't claim warranty for a product that has just been delivered to you, you claim defective during shipping from the retailer directly and get them to sort it out. That's where you went wrong.

                        • @Hybroid: ? I am not sure why do you think I can't claim warranty on products from manufacturers but through retailers when there is no proof of the products are damaged in transit. Isn't there is a choice for consumers to claim warranty through retailers or directly from manufacturers?

                          • @wtfnodeal: You received a defective product from the get go within a week, it's not a fault that developed months later. You should have gone straight back to the retailer.

You really need to read T&Cs more carefully when buying things.

              • @pegaxs: It is not a public service announcement but to find out anyone else like me does not read the warranty disclaimer but have never thought of only 2 days DOA warranty. If they do is it because all other manufacturers also have 2 days DOA warranty?

          • @pegaxs: Yeah you are right. There is no mention of 2 days but the Hisense customer service rep did tell me 2 days over the phone. But according to the T&Cs it could choose to repair or replace the products which also means even if it dies on the 1st day it can choose to repair instead of replacing it.

Did not die but the screen cracked itself about a month ago. Found out some in whirlpool and OZB member here also had the screen crack problem.

Why? They may not have acted as the brightest of the bunch but haven't done anything malicious.

    • Thanks for your attention on this discussion. If you could please contribute will be nice.

  • DOA should be replaced immediately or money back… why would you wait 2 months for a repair on something you never even turned on

    • I could turn it on but the screen flickered every 30 mins or so. I asked for a replacement but they said repair only because I bought it for more than 2 days.

  • hi if they pull any funny business about repair, ask them how much Consumer Warranty comes with the set,no luck contact you fair trading consumer affairs dept
