I've always wondered, does this stuff actually work or is it just snake oil?

    • somewhere in between.

      • Personal experience?

    • +2

Dont think ive regrown anything really. HOWEVER it has stopped the constant falling out of hair.

Ive got a bit of receeding + thinning. Gonna try Finasteride out.

Clinical trials suggests it works for baldness near the crown, but not near the temples.

      Like whitening toothpaste

    • +1

      It prevents further loss mostly.

    • +7

naaa I tried it .. it doesn't work .. just Buzz it off.
It looks waaaay cooler than trying to hold on to your youth…. like trying to catch smoke.. just let it go and grow old gracefully.

Unless your head is a really odd shape, or you barely have any hair loss/thining, I 100% recommend trimming/shaving. This is coming from a 4 year Regaine user. Save loads of money, save loads of effort/hassle. Wish I did it sooner ;-) Hair was always a sore spot, and not having to worry about it made me so much happier.

        100% should shave.

        • the ladies are queuing up already…

          • @jv: So, you can already see them in front of your house? That was quick.

If you're ripped, you can be bald. If you're not ripped you need hair.

If you don't have hair, get ripped, or RIP.

      • -1

If you are ripped, you shave your whole body to imitate a baby anyway, so may as well shave the head. If you are bald and want to attract ripped guys, then yes you could get ripped I suppose.

        • Almost all babies have hair on their head.

          • @thedriver: As far as I know the rest of their body does not though right?

        • Dafuq are you taking about, neckbeard?

          • -1

@KLoNe: Awww, seems you need to work out your brain, instead of your muscles….. I mean at least I got hair.

There are reports of erectile dysfunction and other related nasties. Do your research before taking this medication.

    • +1

thats for the Finasteride not regaine

      • No it also occurs with Regaine. Loss of libido also.

        • right ok i never felt it until i took finasteride then i noticed it

          • @jabroni: Yea, I actually had it for a while with Regaine but never noticed it, then started finasteride and had erectile issues during the 6 months of use. Then stopped, luckily I am back to normal, but with both you can get permanent side effects.

          This is false.

To date, no scientific studies have made a connection between Rogaine and sexual dysfunction. Men who take Rogaine and experience problems with libido, erection, or performance will often find another contributing factor that explains their symptoms. One studyTrusted Source in 2014 found that Rogaine had an effect on the activity of androgen receptors, but the authors are very clear in stating that the effects are in the hair follicle only. At this time, there is still no confirmed evidence that Rogaine adversely affects the male libido, although research continues.

          https://www.healthline.com/health/mens-health/rogaine-and-lo…

It doesn't even make sense logically as it's a topical medicine that doesn't enter the blood stream. Plus it has no effect on hormones.

          • @Frukoz: Seems strange if given what you said, that they are still listed side affects. So what do you make of that? Also it does enter your system, as another side effect is that hair can grow elsewhere, and pregnant women shouldn't take it as it can affect the fetus.
Mostly there haven't been enough tests, and the tests that have been taken are generally all funded by the creators.

            • @onlinepred:

Seems strange if given what you said, that they are still listed side affects

Do you have a source for this statement please?

The Regaine website itself doesn't even list those side effects - https://www.regaine.com.au/faqs.

IANAD but hair can grow elsewhere if people apply it accidentally elsewhere. There is also a pill version of Minoxidil which will affect all of the hairs on your body in the same way. Pregnant women is probably more about being cautious due to lack of studies.

              • -1

@Frukoz: There are loads of studies done that prove it. Lucky for most, Regaine silences most through money.

                https://www.researchgate.net/publication/317000257_TOPICAL_M…
Just do a google mate. Once I stopped using it, I was back to normal. My Doctor said he has had patients with permanent side affects after using Rogaine/Regaine.

100% about the lack of studies, which is what I said. There isn't enough studies on anything about this drug

                • @onlinepred: Your bad science and disinformation has a better chance of giving people ED than Minoxidil 😂😂.

You're quoting a flimsy study with a sample size of 1, no references or citations. Meanwhile choosing to ignore a reputable aggregation of medical studies.

I'm still waiting for you to tell me where those side affects are being listed btw…

                  • @Frukoz: Sorry buddy, but if you know science, you know that those studies require funding to get bigger sample sizes. It was literally the first one I found. Also if you are so strongly into science, then you will provide me a study that isn't funded indirectly by Rogaine/Regaine that shows that it does not cause ED. We all know there was a big push by Regaine/Rogaine to put out fake articles and paid influencers through rounds of advertising to promote it and squash "myths".

Anyway, peace out brosef. Hope it works for you and causes no side affects. Also when I started with the topical solution, it listed many more side affects on the package than they do now. It must be because of all the studies they have done hey………………………

                    • @onlinepred: Mate, that's not how science works. You made the statement that Minox causes ED side effects. The onus is on you to prove that statement. Minox has been around for so long and has had so many studies published, that it's not even a prescription drug anymore. There are very strict measures in place by government run departments like the FDA in the US, EMA in Europe, and TGA here that have decided the drug is so safe, it can be bought over the counter.
ED is extremely psychological, and I have no doubt that there is a correlation between losing your hair as a man and losing your libido. But there is no hard science whatsoever that proves even slightly that Minox causes ED. And as I've stated, it doesn't even make sense logically in the way that the drug works on the system… And I'm not going to indulge your conspiracy theory route because it would give it some value. Best of luck to you.

                      • @Frukoz: It was literally on my pamphlet when I started 3 years ago. I don't have it anymore strangely…

            • @onlinepred: Hair regrows elsewhere as you get older anyway, even if you don't USE this topical cream.

              • @thedriver: Hahaha, if only I could transplant it to my head. Problem solved!

Should just wear a kitten on your head

    • If I could get a kitten bald, then I wouldn’t need this. 😏

  • I tried for 6 months and it helps to retain hairs even regrow very thin hairs.
but the problem is when you stop using they will go away in a month or so.
agree with comment finasteride and minoxidil combination helps better.
but try anything such after checking with GP as everyone is having a different reason for hair loss (dandruff, hormones, heredity).

  • i found Finasteride plus regaine did kep the hair in place but im now in the process of installing a water filtration system for the home after testing the water and finding high chlorine in my water

I once knew a guy who used a hair growth product. Dimoxinil was its name.

One day, he saw an enticing TV advertisement for a product to regrow his hair. However, he was dismayed when a doctor informed him that the product cost $1000. When telling of the episode to his friends, he relayed the moment when he told the doctor "Thanks for nothing" and stormed out of his office. Upon hearing of his disappointment, one of his friends recommended that he use a bit creativeness to cover the cost of the hair treatment to his employer's medical fund. His made-up excuse? Keep brain from freezing.

Well, he went back to the doctor to get another shrink the hair treatment. The doctor became suspicious when he noticed that the cost was to be covered by his employer's medical fund, but still wanted to make a quick buck. Fearing that his office was tapped, he put on loud music and whispered into my friend's ear to meat him in the alley later. That's when the magic began.

My friend went back to his house, applied the product, and went to sleep. In the morning, to his amazement, he suddenly had a full head of hair. He ran out on to the street and praised the wondrous product that gave back his youthful appearance. He even ran into another Dimoxinil user who was doing the exact same praising. They hugged and it was lovely.

He was soon promoted at work and was given keys to the executive bathroom. He was assigned a task to present a speech to the company, which should have gone well. Unfortunately, his son spilled the hair growth bottle the day before the speech and he was unable to his it and immediately became bald again. Even though he was given a prepared speech that was written phonetically, his absence of hair resulted in his speech being poorly received. One audience member commented "Why should we listen to him? He doesn't even have hair."

As a result of the failure, he was demoted back to his previous role and his life continued as it was before. Good times.

I'm paranoid about using this, anyone else been through this?

I used Finasteride for a year, noticed nothing. I still have thick hair, just minor shedding at the front hairline.

I'm unsure if it's worth risking using this? I don't want to make it worse. I bought a Dr Pen, as results have looked good.

      The penis mightier.

    • A widow's peak is normal and can't be fixed. These treatments are for male pattern baldness. If you still have a full head of hair what are you worried about?

    • On 1mg Fina & Regaine and no side effects. Cut out the regaine to use minoxodil tablets instead and noticed accelerated balding. Back on the topical regaine.

  • Reminds me of this press conference quote:

At a press conference about Star Trek: The Next Generation, a reporter asked Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry about casting Patrick Stewart, commenting that "Surely by the 24th century, they would have found a cure for male pattern baldness." Gene Roddenberry had the perfect response.

"No, by the 24th century, no one will care."

Baldness is a genetic advantage trait. That's why it's so common and still around to this day, and becoming even more prevalent.

There's a lot of interesting historical and genetic research into alopecia.

  • Don't buy regaine, buy the generic minoxidil from behind the counter. It's the same stuff and it's $35 for 3 months supply.

    • Been there, done that. Noticed more loss with the generic, switched back to Regaine and it slowed the loss.

I am a 1 year minoxidil user. I do have some suggestions:
1- if you are already shaving your head (like me) minoxidil from Kirkland or minoxidil from rogaine are going to dry too much your scalp. I find rogaine worse than Kirkland on this matter. Probably rogaine has more alcohol.
2- the scarry side effects mentioned above are only if you take finasteride. I took it for 6 months and I won't ever take that pill in my life.
3- since I started using minoxidil, I have recovered a lot of hair from my front line.
4- buy shampoos for hairloss and use essential oils
    5- be consistent

about this offer, it is a very good deal. do not miss it.

    • What were the scary side effects of finasteride? Everyone reacts differently to everything though.

      • yeah I have read about people that are affected mentally. In my case, during the time I took the finasteride, I didn't want to even see my wife naked. no libido at all. Thanks God everything is back to normal after I stopped the pill.

    • Your front hairline recovered?

I read about convincing it with derma needling, look into Dr Pen.

I just wanna keep the thickness at the front, maybe for a few more years and then I'd be happy to go to Turkey and spend 5-7k on a transplant to keep it thick. I like my hair, I don't feel shaving it is an option.

Had anyone used it, and it's made it worse? I know at the beginning it sheds but after it shouldn't?

      Foam or liquid better?

      Finasteride take from me:
I started on 1/3 dose every 2nd dose and I got massive sides.
My libido was up and down, my skin dried out and I gained 5-6kgs.

After 6 months I went to 1mg a day, and my libido was ok but my loads were much smaller. My skin was still dry, and weight gain. I'm late 30s and still have hair so it's probably just age related so I stopped Finasteride.

I didn't notice any slow down at all, I also don't have child and I read you can't be on it if you want, as it may not be safe.

Took a while for my skin, libido to get to normal. I tested my DHT and was already just AVG via blood.

It works for some, not for others. There isn't many options these days unfortunately.

      • I definitely have more hair in the front than a year ago but I need to continue with the treatment to continue recovering my density. I have also been using the derma roller but I have just ordered the derma pen m8. I am just waiting for it. About the shedding, I have read that it is normal at the beginning but then you are going to recover that hair back. If you wanna keep the thickness at the front I would also research about shampoos with biotin and essential oils.

  • You can get a 6th month supply of Minoxidil (liquid) on ebay for $77.95

If you want to learn about Minoxidil and Finasteride check out Kevin Mann on YouTube.
His videos are great, he's done a tone of research on the subject of hair loss

  • foam or topical . both are on sale ?

  • Like others said, don't waste your time with this. Just take Finasteride but prepare to deal wiht a few side effects. I havebeen taking it for 12 year since 21 and my hair loss slowed down considerably.

    • Too many bad sides for me personally.
      Dry skin = aging
      Weight gain(I'm muscular and leanish)
      The studies for birth defects
Libido, which after a while I actually noticed it was ok. I noticed my D was more sensitive, and my loads smaller aka my orgasm wasn't as strong.

Everyone will react different, the main but the birth defects study worried me as I don't have children.

Hair transplant is the best choice, depending on budget. They might ask you to use Finasteride after that depending on your hair loss.

  • So, I don't take 1mg a day. I take 1.25 3 days a week. I get all the benefits with very few of the side effects.

I have never had an issue with dry skin.

Maybe a slight bit of weight gain. I'm not as lean as I used to be and I'm reasonably muscular too.

I also noticed a few issues with libido and sensitive nipples when I started taking it. It went away after a while and taking my reduced dosage also seems to help a lot.

Birth defects are only if you impregnant someone while on it or your wife touches your tablets because its can be absorbed through the ski.

I think they recommend you taking Fin after a transplant.

    • Yeah, but say you want to have children then you'd have to go off and you'll lose alot of hair!

I actually had worse sides when I took it every other day. As soon as I went to .5 then 1mg a day other than the dry skin and the weight already gained my libido went back to normal! How odd hey!

      • I figure I have been taking it for 10 years, so I'm 10 years ahead of where I would have been otherwise. Its not like you stop taking it and your hair falls out straight away. Its a process. I think it is 3 months for no levels to be detected in your serum.

  • Other extra 10% discount for this product.
