Where did that 4000A one go?

  • Has anyone got the Rooboost and can compare to this?

      • Thanks!

    • +1

I've got the Rooboost and highly rate it. Saved me and others heaps of times. I'm sure they both work similar but having wireless charging and a hardcase is great. I now take it camping, power my telescope etc. I haven't tried the Gooloo but I'd buy another Rooboost if I ever needed a 2nd battery booster based on my experience so far.

  • Just FYI; These will not start a 3L diesel from flat.

    • What car did you try to start?

      • +2

I jumped a 3.6L Diesel from flat no issues at all with this.

    • +3

I have started a 2L diesel 5 times and a 3L diesel once on a single charge. Works great. The charger died after about 6 months. Couldn't be stuffed claiming warranty as I have a hundred charges. The jumper itself is very good. It works as well my Antigravity jumper at a fraction of the price.

    • +1

Did you press the boost button on the leads? A flat battery the jumper wont recognise a battery is connected if its dead.
FYI i have done multiple starts on a 6.6ltr diesel with this jumper

    • Not true. In fact, it can start two in a row.

    • @Coastal0 "Just FYI; These will not start a 3L diesel from flat." ???
I've started a 5 litre diesel for a friend a couple of times. Worked first time, every time… go figure… even claims to work up to 7 litre diesels so I can't see where your problem lies.

    • if your battery has been flat for many months,
then this powerbank will not jump-start it.

"This is the best gift for mom"

I probably won't get one for my Mum. However my wife is a good candidate :-)

I bought one of these last week. Arrived faulty. Just put a warranty claim on Amazon so hope will be sorted.
here is the please explain video
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQb_6B-FBN8&feature=youtu.be

    • You certainly gave it enough chances to start working…

      • By the time you get to having to film a defective product you would have tried many times already

    • Oh shit i never tested mine i've had it for over a month. Thanks for the video and reminder!

    • Gooloo has confirmed that they will send another or money refund. Fingers crossed all good

  • anyone has an experience with the capacitor (battery-less) type?

  • +1

sweet, got one since I missed out a few months ago.

  • I'm still trying to work out how these would work in practice. If you have it charging at home and you need it, someone has to bring it to you? Wouldn't a good set of jumper cables do the same then? And if they are 2/3 of the price of a new battery and you need a new battery anyway? I can see if you are a mechanic etc dealing with dead batteries they are great, but for the average driver, I'm not sold yet?

    • +7

You forgot the part where you have to keep asking people if u could use their battery to jump start ur car, deal with rejection until someone has to agree and Parallel park next to u if it’s even possible depending on where the car shat itself.

    • +6

You could leave it charging in your car or just leave it in your car boot and charge at home once every 3 months or so. It doesn't need to be plugged into the wall constantly.

      • Where would be a good place in the car to store it to reduce exposure to heat and moisture?

        • Under the car seat, the case it comes in feels like it has good insulation

          • +4

@donkcat: this is a tough question, if you know your car is parked in direct sun light in summer, i would highly advice not to store it anywhere in the interior even under seat. the cabin temperature goes up, once i left a lolipop and pack of gum inside the center console which has a thick lid, and the next day it was turned into liquid goo. it gets real hot in there. i would recommend somewhere in a pocket in the boot, where the tools are stored as there is no glass there temperature will always be lower than the cabin in direct sun light.

    • +2

You charge it at home and store it in the car. Recharge every few months as necessary.

Or you leave it at home in case you need it there, because every time I've had a car battery die it's been when the car is at home.

Or you use this instead of jumper cables because it's easier, and in my experience people don't always like hooking jumper cables up to their battery.

    • +1

I charge mine to 80% (4 out of 5 LED's on), put it in the carry case and store it in a closed compartment in my boot away from sunlight.

It's value comes when you are one day on your normal routine, go to start the car and realise you left the lights on, or maybe you just haven't started the car in a good while, the batteries dead and you need to get to that place to do that thing you love, on a day in the past you would've been stranded, waiting for the NRMA for over an hour before they arrived, but not today, you've got a portable jump starter, hook it up (properly), and the car is started within the next 2 mins and you're right on schedule.

Not only that, but if you're also in my scenario, a jump start doesn't mean the battery is completely dead, one time my car didn't start (presumably because at the time I was doing alot of very short trips), I used the jump starter to get it going and went for a longer drive, and it would be another year before the battery was actually dead, so I've squeezed alot more out of the battery and it paid for itself that day, not to mention the countless times my family has needed a jump start too.

    • I charge once a quarter. Will hold a charge for 3+ months.

  • +2

I bought one of these late last year and has saved me a couple of times already! Very easy to use and seems to keep the charge for months. Would recommend.

  • Hopefully mine arrives this time, last time at a $89 deal it apparently got lost in the mail, still says delivering today in Amazon portal. Amazon was kind to do refund and give $30 amazon credit.

  • Is this thing charge Lenovo Notebook? Thanks

    • +1

      Maximum 18w/3amp output via USBC

So it would charge your laptop slowly.

      • +1

I recall there was a yellow version that had 60w charging on it's USBC.
It doesn't come up often though.

  • +1

If I connect 2 of these these in series will it put out 24V?

Asking for a friend who enjoys using these on their nipples but is no longer getting the thrill they once used to from 12V.

  • Found myself using this is a backup battery for my phone, mostly. Lol

  • +1

I got one last time, and it has perfectly work in Honda CRV 2006 a couple of times already :)

    • Same. Used it ~3 times or so. Recently, the car with the flat battery was parked with the nose to the wall so you couldn't reach it with normal jumper cables.

  • +1

Worked perfectly the first couple times I used it but the other day when I went to start boost my car I noticed it was dead, wouldn't charge back up either, currently being returned to Amazon as we speak.

    • so its 1 year full refund warranty is that right? its my first time buying on AUS amazon

      • tbh i'm not sure I just know that I had bought it on the 17th of Marth and I had til the 30th of June to return it, return postage was also free.

All the comments on Amazon.com are good. Decided to buy one. Hope there are no regrets.

  • +1

i bought one of this 6 months ago at this price. cool device, but haven't used it once yet for its intended purposes. makes for a half decent flashlight though.

  • Why is this one $20 cheaper? https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0748D8KT6/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp…
(plus its got 12v output, which works for me :)

    • +3

It's for smaller cars, only 1200A, also no USB-C for fast charging.

      • Do you think, it won't work on a small or medium SUV?

  • The Rooboost 1500 pack says it can be stored in an environment up to 80 degrees. Does anyone know what the Gooloo is rated at? I had a look but couldn't find the info and the manual on their site didn't work for me.

  • Oh man, finally come to buy this and its gone up to $149

  • This is super quick shipping. Mine arrived today, didn't know that delivery happens on Sunday. Gave it a full charge and tried it on my phone, yep, it does fast charging. Now I will have to wait for someone's car battery to be dead to really test it. My car battery is still too good to become flat.
