FYI: This no longer applies to goods purchased on Groupon!

      Ye that sucks

    • +1

Thanks for pointing this out - I would have missed it otherwise.

Hi b-radicool. Been true since March 23 of this year, and unfortunately affects all partners. See here :(

    • Does food classify as goods?

  • +2

Cashback is ineligible on amounts paid with Groupon credit.

Is this new? It has always been eligible before?

    • Yes I am sure people have lots of credit now, with Groupons refund policy…

      • hmmm will wait out for a coupon deal then

        • Shopback have credit as a inclusion, but not 100% sure what it means:

Cashback is calculated after the usage of Groupon credit.

It may mean that if you use 100% there'll be no cashback or…

@tlai: Hi tlai. It's exactly the same for both CR and SB. As an example, this means if you have $5 in Groupon credit and use it to purchase a $12 item, you will receive cashback on the $7 portion. Hope this makes sense :)

Had to cancel a deal I bought for my birthday and credit was the best and only thing groupon could do for me which was pretty poor. Paypal wouldn't do anything and my bank said they couldn't do a chargeback as I paid through paypal. Now I have little I can actually spend the credit on.

      • Can you maybe buy something for someone in classifieds? Youā€™d have to discount significantly because people have other options.

      • +1

Noticed that credits expire in 6months, was expecting longer.

  • Uber Eats $15 for $3.85: https://www.groupon.com.au/deals/uber-eats-31

    Not sure if its eligible.

It's for new customer only, please use my referral code instead. No payment needed.

  • Buying a photo bookshop voucher . Is that goods ?
Or goods apply to items purchased directly from Groupon ?
    Thanks

  • Most food/services deals can't be fulfilled just now and the only thing they are doing with existing vouchers they cant honor is providing credit … thus this deal is mostly pointless.

  • Any sitewide code to go with this?

      TRY10 for new Groupon customers

Groupon are massive scam artists and rorters. Be very careful. I purchased a $664 voucher to complete a course, I went to the provider and asked if they could delay my enrolment due to covid 19 meaning I cannot do the practical on site components of the course. They said they can't and said I should get a refund. So I go to groupon and if you have any issue there is nowhere to talk to the company in Australia, there is no phone number, all there is is an email address to Groupon International where I waited days to speak to a representative of African descent who tried to renege on their promised 7 day refund policy which I requested within that time and instead tried to give me $664 groupon credit with 30 day expiry and I'm almost about to see consumer affairs about it and explore my legal options. Don't deal with groupon because everything they sell is crap and they will try worm their way out of acting in good faith and make it near impossible to get a straight answer from them. Groupon are the worst business I have ever dealt with.

file a PayPal dispute, explaining the situation and quoting the Australian consumer law:

Refunds should be the same amount you have already paid, provided in the same form as your original payment.

      • I didn't pay with paypal, I paid by credit card.

        • +1

dispute the transaction and do a chargeback through the bank

          • @skido: How do you do that? They don't have a leg to stand on, as the fine print says refunds can be offered within 7 days as long as the voucher is not redeemed, which it wasn't, and I did contact them within 7 days asking for a refund but it took 4 days for me to get a reply. The other thing in the fine print says no refunds for change of mind, but this is not change of mind. It's not possible for the provider to allow me to start a cert IV without totally completing a cert III, which I can't do as I have to do work experience. So I don't see any basis for them to claim I am only entitled to receive groupon credits with 30 days expiry as a refund. I am steaming. Do you call the bank to do this?

            • +1

@rudiger1234: personally haven't done it before but looks like you just call them up with all the evidence you have. from google:

To initiate a chargeback, you contact your credit card issuer and file a dispute. You'll point out the transaction you're disputing and provide the reason you're challenging it. This dispute information is sent to the merchant's card processor, and then it's forwarded to the merchant you're dealing with.

              • @skido: Ok thanks, I will keep that in mind. I am still waiting for their response to my refusal to accept groupon credits as a refund. I have already threatened if they don't offer me a full refund into my bank account I will tell consumer affairs and fight them. Probably have to wait a week to get another response but this might be the most effective way to handle it.

            • +1

@rudiger1234: Call your bank and they will take care of it (you might need to send them evidence and sign forms).
I did the same yesterday, but luckily my Groupon was only $41
I also have a long email chain from Groupon Support - who typically reply within 1 day of each email, so you might like to try that first.

              • @Wolfy: I'm calling the bank right now. I have tried emailing them, I started emailing on May 1, one of them said they will send it to their superior, then a couple of days later some guy said he will offer the groupon credits, I refused and haven't heard back since. I just want the problem sorted and my refund and move on with my life but it's like pulling teeth trying to get them to listen to you or treat you fairly. Hopefully the bank can retrieve it. I know one way or another I will get it back but the less painful the better.

                • +1

@rudiger1234: But you have the email transcript to show the bank that you tried to resolve it with the merchant first.
Unfortunately in terms of your moving on, my bank advised that it might take 90-120 days to get a resolution.

                  • +1

@Wolfy: Yeah I do. The bank told me I will receive an outcome in 3-10 business days. It's a lot of money, I will keep fighting them whichever way I have to to get it back so it's in their best interests to concede this one or I will drag them through every available avenue until I get it back.

                    • @rudiger1234: Just thought I'd let you know that our bank has processed the requested refund into our account (much more quickly than advised).

                      • @Wolfy: That's great, I'm glad. I'm still getting the run around by groupon. I first contacted them about a refund on May 1, on May 3 some guy said he said to refer it to his manager, 2 days later the manager says i'm sorry we can offer you groupon credits if you want please let me know ASAP. I said no and kicked up a stink. No reply. 2 days later, back to the first guy who said again he has to refer it to his manager who will reply within 72 hours. It's a joke.

Surprisingly I only told the bank the story, they haven't asked to see any evidence but they said the case will have an outcome in about 3 business days. I have confidence in the bank, once my bank card was stolen, well I left my wallet sitting on a gas pump and someone picked it up and went on a shopping spree around town with my money using paypass, once i reported it to the police and they showed the security footage of someone else using it, the bank gave me every cent back.

I would like it to be over soon, I hope there are no issues but I am confident there won't be but it is stressful with this amount of money.

    • Have you tried a live chat with them?

      • It's not available due to covid 19 nor is the Australian help line, the only way to contact them is sending an email through the site to groupon international customer support where they estimate 7 days for a reply.

    • Hi there, we certainly understand the frustration. Can you please email us at [email protected] explaining your issue so that we can be in touch and assist you further?

      -Harry

That's what I mean, scratch the surface of this site they are extremely dodgy and shady and everything I have ever bought from them there has been problems, I bought the ear pods, they were Chinese and spoke in Chinese, the instructions were mainly in Chinese, there was about 3 lines of information in Engrish about how to use it, it took me about a month to figure out how to make it speak in English then one of the buds stopped working, I couldn't work out how to turn it back on. Want any technical support or information? Good luck.

  • +4

So it's ineligible on goods, it only works for services all of which are unavailable right now so what good is this deal? Trust me, when the time comes the voucher expires and you have been unable to use it, you won't get your money back. Crap deal, mega neg.

  • +2

Would use this if a code was available.

  • TRY10 not available, says another 10% discount available. Probably no cashback?

    • yes, I used that for some purchases over 2 weeks ago and never got any cashback.
