I've often wondered this myself. I'd like to know for sure.
Plus wear and tear on the machine. I believe your lifespan would be a lot longer and less maintenance.
Definitely in summer I would leave it on. The cost of it powering up to drop to the temperature in the heat of the day or afternoon would be more than keeping a consistent temperature from the night before. It's good for just being able to use google home to control the aircon, and to turn it in before you get home and turn it off as you are leaving. If you like sensibo on facebook, they regulary sell the units for $129 with free postage.
I have a couple of these, at the moment on Heat/ Silent set on 22 degrees. Its helpful while holding an infant if you want to switch it on or off via Google. Also can enable Geo Fencing so when you leave or come home, it will turn on or off. Schedule and timers are useful too.
more cost effective to leave it on auto economy 24 degrees
It depends on how you use it but generally your right.
Basically it takes far more energy to change temperature then to maintain an existing temperature.
It depends on how good your room insulation. AC will use energy to pump or extract heat. If your room is poorly insulated eg lots of windows, big gap underneath your doors etc, AC will consume energy all the time. In this case, turning off your AC when not in used is more energy efficient.
To know how good your room insulation is, try to turn off your AC and see how quickly it warms up/cools down to outside temperature.
Same use it mainly for my kid's bedroom - because the a/c is quite rubbish and the temperature sensor doesn't work very well so I have to use the sensibo to make sure it's not freezing in the room.
I guess if your air conditioners have smart controls that can be controlled by google, then you wouldn't need this device?
Would that be correct?Yes. Native wifi split systems are superior to a Sensibo as they have two way information. So if you use your normal remote you can see it update via the native app. Sensibo won't know if it gets updated.
A Broadlink Blackbean RM3 Mini is a much cheaper option than Sensibo and can control other IR devices. No temp sensor though but pair it with a Xiaomi setup and you'll still be $60+ better off.
That's correct. However if your AC has optional Smart adapter, it will probably cost more than a Sensibo and you won't be able to reuse it on another branded device.
If you have a google assistant device, you can link one of these and it will control just about anything with an IR receiver and has a learning function for the brands it doesn't list.
Obviously doesn't have as many functions as the Sensibo (temp sensor etc), but it is $100 cheaper if you just want to be able to control your IR devices with voice.

And Bunnings now sell arlec BLE sensors which includes temp sensors.
Just set them all up in Tuya app instead of Mirabella or Arlec.
Can do auto room temp related config then aswell.
Starter kit with temp sensor

Or base hub

- additional temp sensors $20

None of those links work for me on mobile ☹️
Manual searches for variations of 'arlec hub' show 0 items as well.
Yes same for me
@0 0 0: Weird, I have noticed other things disappear recently too guessing stock constraints, they only just launched.
I/N: 0148570
I/N: 0148574
I/N: 0148571All 3 of my nearest store (Townsville) show Instock (haven’t gone in and verified tho)
@0 0 0: Same, I wondered if it’s because it wasn’t stocked on the store it’s associated to me.
@Hargain Bunter: That's what I'm thinking. I tried a few random WA/NSW/VIC locations but none came up with anything however as soon as I changed to QLD stores like Townsville or Stafford the pages loaded fine.
Normally they would just say out of stock, so maybe they haven't been added to other states inventory yet?
@cimrak: Cheers guys! Changing to Townsville worked. @jcarterd have you tried them, and do you know how long the batteries usually last?
@Hargain Bunter: I wonder if these are Zigbee or Zwave or something else. Would be a good local way to get cheap devices for my Samsung Smartthings hub
oh just saw you said they're BLE devices? How do you know? Or could they be Zigbee or Zwave?
Product description and indicator all says Bluetooth.
“Bluetooth technology with 10m range (when connect with sensors)”
- additional temp sensors $20
Hey mate, just wanted to drop a note to say thanks for recommending the Mirabella Genio. For $30 it works fantastically.
This looks cool. I personally believe it is more cost effective to leave it on auto economy 24 degrees than turning it off and on though with an inverter system.
