There's one for $35 if you need a cheap one. Aldi are probably also due to stock these again soon, and they are normally around 30 bucks.

    • I guess you get what you pay for… Kmart one is smaller, polyester, and not machine washable.

    • German branded with 101 years experiences in making electric blankets vs Kmart unbranded cheap and nasty stuff, that’s totally your call lmao

a simple heating circuit, amazing german technology unable to be replicated anywhere else

    • Sorry for the noob question, but did ALDI stock the exact same blanket for $30? If it's the case, I prefer to wait for Aldi to stock them.

        of course NOT!

every comparisons against aldi' stock is apple vs orange.

        • Thanks, I'll buy from JB then

  • Does anyone have one and rate it?
Thought about it but not sure I can be bothered dragging out an extension cord…Probably benefit the most if you had one of those couches with the power points in the arm rests?

I don’t have this particular brand, but do have one. I have been using it on and off as I am working from home in an area which is the furthest distance from the wall heater in my apartment, so the space is hard to heat. I like it, it’s like a warm hug. Do I think it’s essential though? No, a hot water bottle and a blanket over my legs does just about the same thing.

I've 2 of this exact item from HN two years ago. Also have 3 of Aldi version. IMO the Beurer is much more comfortable with thick fleece and smooth surface, the Aldi one feels rougher. Aldi's is smaller in size too. But the main disadvantage of the Beurer is the auto cut off after 3 hours whilst the Aldi can be set up to 12 hours. I am using the Beurer for watching TV from couch and Aldi on top of my doona for the cold nights.

FYI, Beurer is one of the earliest manufacturers that produces electric blankets in the world

……….Or you could just grab your doona from the bed.

  • Not sure about this brand, but I have the Sunbeam version and can highly recommend them. They're great when sitting and you can have the room heating lower than you might otherwise. Cats love them too.

Good for quickly warming your bed. If really cold I sometimes put it between top sheet and quilt. That way you can use them on memory foam mattresses as you shouldn't use a conventional electric blanket on those.

The Aldi one is coming on sale soon, I saw it in a recent catalogue.

    $35

  • I got the Aldi one and used it everyday during winter last year. So warm and cosy when on the couch watching a movie.

  • Also have the sunbeam one and love it. Much better than a normal blanket.

  • closest I could find in sydney was paramatta, none in the eastern suburbs unfortunately.

    • got the aldi one as a mothers day gift - cosy

  • picked up Dimplex heated throw from GoodGuys instead over the wknd for $89
wondering how does Dimplex compares to Beurer (sold out in JB) and Sunbeam (sold out in GG)

so far Dimplex does the job, i set it at level 4-5 which is sufficient to keep my knees & feet warm from my raynauds syndrome

Although extremely low frequency EMFs (ELF-EMFs) does no harm to human, it's unclear to me what's the control mechanism in these products to make sure the product doesnt produce high-energy (ionizing) radiation, this probably it's the only concern with less reputable brands esp if you are preganat, or intend to give to your young child.

some additional reading about EMFs vs Cancer here:

These are simple devices - they don't need a control mechanism to stop them producing high-energy radiation because they wouldn't be capable of producing any in the first place.
