$50 / $100 Referral Bonus for New Customers @ ING

1631

Hi all.

Looks like this is back!

ING are running a promotion where existing account holders can refer new accounts and both will receive $50 or $100, or one will receive $50 and the other $100!

Here's the content from my recent email:

What your friends need to do by 30 June 2020

  1. Go to ing.com.au/everyday, open a new Orange Everyday and enter ***** in the promo box at the end of the online form - this part's really important otherwise neither of you will get your reward!

  2. Deposit $1,000+ (such as their pay) from an external account into their new Orange Everyday account within any calendar month.

  3. Open a Savings Maximiser (if they don't already have one) and make a deposit into this account.

  4. Make 5+ settled (not pending) purchases using their new Orange Everyday card within any calendar month.

Once a friend completes all of the required steps above, you'll both receive your reward. But tell them to be quick - they've only got until 30 June 2020 to complete all steps!

Your friends can find out more at ing.com.au/refer

  • If you have previously opened an Orange Everyday account at any point since 1 July 2014 (even if the account has now been closed), then you are ineligible for this offer.

If you use this offer in a manner that is not satisfactory to us or in line with the intent of the offer (such as sharing your referral code on the 'OzBargain' website or other similar websites, or advertising or marketing your referral code), we may refuse to pay the cash bonus (including in respect of any or all referrals made in relation to the offer)

Mod: Use referral system below only where you will need to enable yourself to receive PMs for this offer or if you need a code it will start a random PM with someone who is offering to refer you. Ask them what offer they have (e.g. $50-$100).

    • Maybe you should name and shame the one who sent you the invalid code and if he can't proved that he/she received the email, you should raise the matter with MOD.

hmm not sure why samehada got downvoted. could be true. we left our code in ozb but i bet no one remember to pull it.
basically once we put the code here in this forum it will stay forever.
some said the code is the same for every offer/promo but it doesn't mean that person is eligible to refer this time around.
so when someone put the code it will still go through but at the end both get nothing.

i think the referral codes in this forum need to have expiry date and get removed all together for some promotion like ING.
for some long running one like belong, can stay forever (but what if the referral not with belong anymore, if belong website can reject then good if not the same issue will happen)

    • Great point!

Or otherwise as indicated, ensure people use the code check for url indicated above in future posts. ING should really let you know when signing up ineligible… Not two months down the track.

      • nah see the above post, that link is not reliable.

        but:
if someone had valid code (previous offer) and this time not targetted, his/her code will still work.
if he/she feel naughty and put her/his code here, then well…..

        • that's very likely the case here. Someone knowingly send the code despite not receiving the promo email.

          • @samehada: yeah this is a forum so all bases on trust.

@CyberMurning: Then request them fw the promo email instead, if they don't want to do it then you can request the referral code from a different member.

I doubt that. The system set an expiry date for your code, beside this is not an automatic code display but a manual request sent and you have to reply with your code which you clearly know if you are eligible or not.

      • oh yeah forgot about ing code system is manual request sent hahaha… doh….

  • Sent an email to ING to follow up but unfortunately the code that I got was not valid, disappointed

    Hi xx,

    Thank you for your message.

I have searched the code you entered when opening the account and it doesn't show as a valid code for our refer a friends promotionm. This would make you ineligible for the bonus, I apologise.

    Regards,

    • I think enough is enough. There should be penalty for those member that knowingly send out referral code to others despite fully aware that they are not eligible for the promo.

If you do not receive the promo email but still giving your referral code to others then that member should be banned from the referral program for a certain period of time.

You should raise this matter with mod for the one who you got the referral code from.

      • That would be hard for the mod.
What if, we don't ask for just code but fwd email of the offer from ING to the referral person, so we can verify, see the dates etc

maybe it is something you should request when PM. The person has to forward you the promo email. If they refuse you should request it from another member. I believe many ppl are more than happy with your referral request.

It is because of these bad members that eroded the trust in the referral system.

    • Do you want to name the one who had knowingly sent you the code that doesn't work? So others can avoid such bad one?

    • How did you email them? I can't find their email?

Hey everyone, had the same issue where the code was invalid and ING didn’t want to pay up.

I just referred them to the website listed above that showed the code working and said this is false advertising. Then said if they didn’t want to pay up I’ll submit a request with AFCA to investigate.

They soon jumped at the opportunity to honour the payment

      wow.. you are legend….

    • Just gave this a shot myself, thanks for the idea, hope it works! Will report back

    • Their response was, "… we've lodged a complaint with our internal complaints team on your behalf…"

      • That's strange, I did the above with a family member as well and they arranged payment straight away.

Either way, lodging it with the complaints department will have the same effect. Banks are required to respond to a complaint within a certain number of days and as long as you say you'll go to AFCA, its almost guaranteed they will pay it out to you.

As soon as an AFCA Complaint is lodged it costs the bank around $500 from my memory. Then if AFCA actually take up the case, it costs them more… hence why the banks will almost always pay you out when you say that… as its cheaper (I used to work at a bank).

        • you shouldn't have to deal with all this bullshit if not because of those dodgy ozbargain members.

They are wasting people time and now they get nothing.

    • Well deserved, whoever wrote the verfication page had no idea.

I got referral code from Ozb member Imbrog (user profile: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/162048) and the code worked successfully. I have received the $100 in my saving maximiser account after following the 5 steps. Thank you Imbrog!

I referred 4 OZB member and I tried referring friends and family but no dice. I got my sweet $200 referral bonus.

    • i referred 5, got 3x bonus last month and one confirming done in June so waiting for one more.

not bad. 4 out of 5.

yeah same with family. some people just think $100 is too troublesome to open a bank ac. crazy world

    • Sometimes just don't bother with your "friends". Stranger does appreciate you more than your "friends" 😎

Happy I was 1 of those OZB members :)

      • Thank you.

  • Anyone received the $50 per referral but not the $100. I got the $50 a few weeks back but none of the people I referred got the $100 yet.

  • I just got this from ING support - another stooged OZB member here

    *Hi,

    Thank you for your message.

The code was provided to your friend for a previous promotion and not the promotion you've used it for. They will have the promotion information on the original email from us and this would have provided the expiry date of their code.

The system may have advised it was genuine as it was a code for a previous promotion.

    Warm regards,
    Erin

    • contact them like the above users did. The link does not verify accounts correctly. It clearly shows you will get $100USD.

  • Another stooged ozb user here from a random ING referral code that didn't work.

    • name it so others can blacklist them

  • quick close your account take note the date of closure.
next year make sure contact reputable members that still active with ing and receive the offer before applying.

    • Doubt this will work since the condition was:

If you have previously opened an Orange Everyday account at any point since 1 July 2014 (even if the account has now been closed), then you are ineligible for this offer.

      • oh wow.. usually only 1 year now 6 years omg…
well if i dont really use the account i will still close it and wait for 6 years and reapply to get the offer

  • Ok so I referred a few family members and they didn't go through so I was wandering why. Turns out because the $1000 was transferred from another ing account it does not count as an "external account". I would have thought that just means another bank account so sad $450 down the drain :(

    • Why it's hard for them to say non ING account, omg…
