$50 / $100 Referral Bonus for New Customers @ ING

1631

Hi all.

Looks like this is back!

ING are running a promotion where existing account holders can refer new accounts and both will receive $50 or $100, or one will receive $50 and the other $100!

Here's the content from my recent email:

What your friends need to do by 30 June 2020

  1. Go to ing.com.au/everyday, open a new Orange Everyday and enter ***** in the promo box at the end of the online form - this part's really important otherwise neither of you will get your reward!

  2. Deposit $1,000+ (such as their pay) from an external account into their new Orange Everyday account within any calendar month.

  3. Open a Savings Maximiser (if they don't already have one) and make a deposit into this account.

  4. Make 5+ settled (not pending) purchases using their new Orange Everyday card within any calendar month.

Once a friend completes all of the required steps above, you'll both receive your reward. But tell them to be quick - they've only got until 30 June 2020 to complete all steps!

Your friends can find out more at ing.com.au/refer

  • If you have previously opened an Orange Everyday account at any point since 1 July 2014 (even if the account has now been closed), then you are ineligible for this offer.

If you use this offer in a manner that is not satisfactory to us or in line with the intent of the offer (such as sharing your referral code on the 'OzBargain' website or other similar websites, or advertising or marketing your referral code), we may refuse to pay the cash bonus (including in respect of any or all referrals made in relation to the offer)

Mod: Use referral system below only where you will need to enable yourself to receive PMs for this offer or if you need a code it will start a random PM with someone who is offering to refer you. Ask them what offer they have (e.g. $50-$100).

  • Is there a limit on how many people one can refer? So if you refer 5, you get $500 or capped at $100?

    • You get $250 for 5 referrals ($50 each - not $500)

Each of the 5 new account holders get $100 each

  • Ty OP, used my sisters referral code but it had expired April 30th, should be fine I hope as the application went through.

  • I've got the email from ING, new account will get $100 and the referrer gets $50.

  • Got one where the new account will get $100 while the referrer gets $50.

Pretty good for anyone not already with them. Great products (compared to others available).

  • I have the offer - new account gets $100 (referrer gets $50)
Pretty sweet deal for anyone signing up, free money (and $100 is amazing!!!)
And ING’s email say I can refer multiple times? I think 5 or 10 people..

  • Added myself to the referral list, I received the one where I - the referrer - gets $50 and the the new account holder gets $100.

  • I got my first ever referral email! $100 to referred friends (new account opener). Pretty excited lol.

  • Nice, received the $100/$50 offer too.

  • Awesome, thanks OP! I got a referral code for $100/$100

  • I received the $100 offer for new accounts.
Some decent offers from ING lately.

  • +1

Just signed up for an account around a month ago. I am very happy about the rebate on international transaction fee :)

  • If I joint the ing when I get the $100?

    20 june?

  • Cheers OP. A friend received the same offer a couple months ago and I didn’t get it, but was targeted this time.

  • Do they charge monthly account fee?

    • No.

Basically bonus interest rate on deposits and free withdrawals at ATMs and I think also commission-free fx transactions, if you deposit at least $1000 every month and use your card (to pay for stuff) 5x a month.

  • Ive never had this offer from ING. Wonder why…

  • I Got no email from ING about this offer! ??

  • What is the benefit for using ING over the other big banks such as CommBank, ANZ etc? Apart from the free $100 of course :)

    • +1

They refund the fees for all ATMs worldwide.

Personally, I prefer the HSBC account with 2% cashback on Visa Tap transactions below $100. I don't use much cash these days.

      • I can second that. I don't really travel much, and with the abundance of fee-free ATMs in Australia, HSBC's offering is better for me in every way.
It's best to find what suits each individual.

  • Luckily, I missed the account opening cut-off by one year (I opened my first Orange Everyday in 2013), but then I closed the account in 2018.

Hope I get the referree bonus, fingers crossed … 🤞

    • ummm you held an account until 2018 so not eligible

      • The condition only says: "If you have previously opened an Orange Everyday account at any point since 1 July 2014", so I'm hoping there's no second 'hidden' condition about account closure.

  • I found an old referral email with a code from ages ago…any way to test if that will work? Didn't get the email

  • I had my referral in the last round and given my code out to 2 people, but haven't received anything yet (probably didn't satisfy criteria). No email this time around so not sure if old code will work still. :(

  • No limits on how many people I can refer?

  • Nice, got the Uber eats promo last month and $100 to the referred person this time around. ING really treating me well!

  • Can I refer two of my housemates? We all share the same address.

  • Bummed that I didn't make an account before this :(

  • Such a good offer! Got $100 for the new account opener.

    • Can you tell when the bonus deposited into your acc after all conditions satisfied?

      • I suspect it will be after 30 June.

  • Can't believe I just set up a new account in under 10 minutes. I transferred $1 to both my new everyday and savings account with OSKO with stgeorge and all my accounts activated.

Crazy how one can open a new account instantly with a bank.

  • Can anyone confirm whether we can may 5 beemit transfers between our own accounts using debit cards would count as transactions?

    • +3

Why taking risk when you can just go to Coles get $1.50 chocolate and at self check out do split payment of $0.30 each five times.

      • Does this work?

        Have you got the bonus?

        • Of course works… Everytime. All the time… You can do 1 cents X 5 too

    • +1

Yes, works with ING to meet transaction obligations.

  • Is anyone's account working yet that opened theirs from this deal? Mine is still in-active.

    • +1

You need to deposit to make it active. And we'll today is weekend so wait tomorrow or another day I bet they will be super busy with new applications

      • Ok thanks. I tried to deposit $1 into the account yesterday but it bounced back. I'll give it a few days.

  • has anyone had problems verifying their id with ing? my id check failed 3 times with three different ids then had to do a new application. feels like an id phishing excercise by ING

    • It's not even done by ING, Auspost does the lookup. Your name and address must match whats on record.

  • How do I earn 1.80% saving interest?

Do I have to deposit 1k to the account every month ? Is that right?

    • +1

yes.. and made 5x tap and go transactions with the card (but this requirement is currently waived)
also the deposit is from external account not ING

  • -2

Has anyone received the Referral Bonus yet???

  • So i've done the steps (im the referee), do ING make the $100 deposit themselves?

  • Would adding funds to my Apple ID count as a purchase?

  • +1

I’ve done the steps. Im the Referee. How long till I get my cash

    • Update: Changing to NEG this deal. During signup the code I used was accepted. When i queried about my promo they said it had expired and I wasn't eligible. Waste of time.

      • Did you ask what's expired? the deal or the code ?

  • +1

So I deposited $1000 yesterday, and performed 5x transactions today and yesterday. However they're sitting as pending still. Given 1 day left in the month, and being a Sunday, will I miss out on the referral if they don't clear before Monday?

    • The deposit will clear the 5x transactions wont.

    • you wont missing out, the promo run till 30 june.
the only thing you missout is time. you and the referee will get the $ in early July since you completed the all steps in June (if the 5x transactions didn't clear which probably will not)

      • he may need to do the deposit again, that's about it.

        • to get the referral bonus or to get bonus interest? if just for the referral bonus, i think all the 4 steps above are need to be done before 30 June, nothing says about in a calendar month

          • @CyberMurning: Steps 2 & 5 specify "calendar month", and I also thought I read that steps had to be completed within the same calendar month of signing up, but I was wrong there.

Just to play it safe I shot to Coles and fired off 5x split transactions on Savings and they cleared!

  • Open a Savings Maximiser (if they don't already have one) and make a deposit into this account. <<<

Can anyone please tell me how much do I need to deposit in the Saving Maximiser? Thank you

    • And from where, external or can be from the newly opened orange same name?

  • Referred a few people, but extra $$ yet to hit the account..

    • if you really like deals you need to have patience…

      • Haha, true! 😂

  • +1

anyone (who completed all the required steps during May) got the bonus yet?

    • Nothing yet.

      • not happy. now my friends thought i was scamming tricking them into opening bank account for nothing hahaha

  • Does anyone know how long it takes to get the bonus? I completed the steps required in May.

    • My guess we will get our bonus on Monday last week of month so 29th of June.

    • i recommend everyone to send email to ing to complain

  • +2

Just got an email from ING
    Hi XXXXXX,

Thanks for opening Orange Everyday and meeting the reward eligibility criteria.

As promised, your $100 reward will be deposited into your Savings Maximiser within the next week - so keep an eye out.

  • +1

Just got confirm email. Due for payment within next week

  • +2

    and for the referrees:

    Hi xxx,
Thanks for recommending ING to your friends.
Because your unique promo code has been used and your friend met the eligibility criteria, your reward will be deposited into your Savings Maximiser within the next week as promised - so keep an eye out.
It's great to have you both on board.

  • +1

Got $150 credit on my maximiser with reference "thank-ing you". From 3 people each $50 hmm I thought I was referring more than 3

    • Maybe they didn't complete the required steps to qualify.

      • yeah it is a shocking to see how can people are not reading properly and or feeling too lazy to complete 5 steps to get $100

        • yeah especially when the app shows you when you have completed 5 transactions and deposit $1,000+ per a month.

          • @aneil915: can you believe i was selling hard to a friend he said ok, couple weeks later when i check he said sorry too busy to do those all 5 steps… (while i know he is working from home and taking nap during work hours

            • @CyberMurning: i also tried with family member and friends, none of them went thru with it

  • I got my $100 for signing up and completing the steps required.

  • I got $50. Was expecting two sign ups - so thanks to the person who followed through. :)

  • Only found out about the 30 June thing now. Should still be achievable if I open an account over the weekend and pay with Apple Pay to meet the requirements, or must it be actual card transactions?
Also assuming whoever got my random PM respond soon enough.

  • I went through all the steps last month after signing up (though I used beam it for the transactions, so maybe that didn't count, even though it was enough to activate the bonus interest), but still haven't received the $100. Did the transactions and $1005 into the account this month as well, so I guess if the money doesn't show up next month I'll have to contact ING asking what's going on.

    • If you completed all steps last month I think it's better to contact them now.

  • +1

Okay, bit of a joke… Time wasting at it's finest… I messaged through the app

    Thank you for your message.

It's great to hear you have opened an account with us.

I have had a look at your registration and it appears the code you used is not valid. It may be that your friend had received this for an earlier offer.

I apologise that you are not eligible for this offer.

Enjoy the rest of your night.

    My response

Can I just say I am extremely disappointed. Not once during the process did ING inform me that the code was ineligible, and, to my understanding, I am now further ineligible for initial sign on promotions

    • it means some dodgy ozbargain member still put in their code despite knowing that they are not part of this targetted offer.

They have wasted your time and other eligible member referral.

    • Had the exact same response, they better do something about this as there was no way of knowing if your code worked.

      • You can check referral bonus with following link
        https://campaigns.ing.com.au/refer?code=******

        replace ****** with code.

        • that doesn't work , you can enter a random code in there and it shows $100 lol. I entered mine which i know doesn't work and shows $100

        • +1

There is no way to check, the link just show the promo amount. It won't check if you are eligible.
This is clearly the case of someone who didn't get the email yet still send out code to others. Maybe name and shame them should work or ban them from referral system for certain period as deterrent should work.

      • this is the same system that has been in place for years. nothing will be fixed. I'm still trying to get my account fixed after it stopped rebating over 3 months ago. support can be useless sometimes.

        • Perhaps in future ing posts Oz bargain related, make sure to include check the promo is active using the link like above to save future heartache.

          Cheers

          • +1

@ComfortablyNumb: Link does not check for validity of promo code, it only checks format of promo code.

      • maybe ozbargain mod should do something about it to deter time-wasting dodgy ozbargain members.

    • I think mod should request the one who sent you the code proved that he/she has the email to proved that he is targetted or else should be banned from referral of ING for as a penalty.
