make sure to also get some sexy lingerie too. a couple of sizes small will be a good incentive.

These are awesome and so is this price.

I bought some a couple of years ago when Withings had been sold to Nokia (since bought back by the original owner).

I like that I don't have to have my phone on or nearby because they just use my Wi-Fi and upload to a website which their app syncs with. Battery life is amazing and they easily distinguish between different members of the family as long as there's weight difference. I can't recommend them highly enough.

    • I also had the Body Composition smart scale, but the Bluetooth/WiFi got weaker and eventually died after the warranty expired, so gave it to a family member (not the wife) as a non-connected scale. Also beware that despite supposedly being useable on carpet, it definitely isn't (even with the supplied adapters). I have a Garmin scale now since all my other fitness junk is Garmin, which works fine.

    • Same- get up every morning and jump on the scales and it auto goes to Withings and Garmin so all my stuff is tracked.

      • Is this one auto-sync with Connect App from Garmin pls?

        • +1

Not directly. Scales uses My Health Mate -> linked to My Fitness Pal -> Linked to Garmin Connect

Once setup you don't need to worry about it the data just syncs across those accounts, you can setup MFP online and don't need to install the app on a phone or tablet. From memory that's how it works.

  • +3

Agree, they’re a great scale but for one thing. The downside of the instant wifi upload is you can’t pretend you didn’t-see-that-one after an indulgent day.
    The cloud knows…

Upside: It can purportedly calculate and track a baby's weight. Just put any extra kilos down to the baby! WIN!!!

      • +1

        I have a covid baby i think!

        • Note: Having a baby also justifies cravings, I'm told. Tonight, it's a craving for remaining Easter eggs.

I have this and the sync between their app and Google Fit is poor, lots of missing data in Google Fit and they have not been able to fix this.

But in principle it's very good.

    • Try linking it through Myfitness pal, I had to do this to get the data to show up in Samsung Health. Yes, it is a pain, however it seemed their API had access to more data than the link from Healthmate directly to other apps.

Healthmate <> Myfitnesspal <> Samsung Health

I just checked Myfitnesspal and there's definitely a Google Fit plugin.

      • Thanks for the tip, it does sync some data but there are big gaps etc.

        • All good, times like this I get envious of the Apple ecosystem :)

          • @bdl: Dead link trying to link the apps :(

            • @lukethefish: Between which apps? I just tried a Myfitnesspal <> Google Fit login and it seemed to work…

Myfitnesspal was already linked to my healthmate account

              • @bdl: Fitness pal to health mate

Although I didn't try to link health mate to fitness pal maybe I'll try that

  • +4

It doesn't tell you much. Weighs you, does a calculation and that's it. Not that smart. Your mere weight is not a great indicator of progress.

    • +1

What else is it meant to tell you? Body fat percentage is never accurate on these scales.

      • Similar price you can get scale with bioelectrical impendence analysis, measure your fat, muscle, bone and water. All this one does that is any different from a garden variety kmart digital scale is sync but you could always just buy a $10 scale and input the data yourself.

    • +1

It also tells you the weather (well, the body composition one does) :)

      • Mine WS-30 does as well, I believe other newer models do.

    • +1 to this. It’s just a normal digital scale

  • Got one of the body composition one last year when on deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/471050

Highly recommended. Having the scale automatically record the data is very useful.

  • The phone included?

    • I don't think so, but 4xAAA batteries is included, and free Health Mate app for download. 😄

  • Nice price. Well worth getting a WiFi scale (such as this) over Bluetooth.

Ive had the smart body version for years, great scale. Great software. That said, im not looking forward to my next weigh-in!

  • Bought the original version of this nearly 6 years ago for $46 or so (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/152233), and has been brilliant. I'm a big believer in not worrying about exactly how much I weigh each day, but I like to track how much I weigh over time and this does it automatically. This definitely helped me to slowly manage my weight down to where it should be and keep it there - no crash diets that are impossible to maintain, just being a little more sensible about how much and what I eat and drink normally plus some regular walking. I just bought another and will retire my old black version and try the white job as it will blend in better with the bathroom, and I'll keep the old one as a backup. Thanks OP - this is a great price.

    • Ah that's when I got mine too. Hasn't missed a beat. We use ours twice daily. Excellent scale. App is pretty decent too.
Only issue observed is if you weigh again shortly after someone else it adds around 600grams. Don't know why. Don't think it used to do this but a bug may have been introduced. Wait a few minutes in between weighing and its fine.

      • Yeah. I find the accuracy seems a bit off now. Most scales need recalibration over time, so maybe it's just wearing out. Again doesn't worry me that much as I'm looking at averages over a period of time so the odd glitch doesn't matter - will see if the new one is better though.

  • What is the maximum load capacity?

  • Best thing is getting on the scales on your bday and it gives you a happy bday message with balloons. Made my day in isolation hehe

I have had the scales for couple of years and it has been fantastic as it syncs to my phone. Keeps a good track record.

  • +2

Be careful with these! One men got divorced because his wife spotted "unknown weight" in the recent list…

  • +1

How do these compare to FitBit Aria?

    • I got sick of my Fitbit stuff, the Aria v1 needed special settings for my Unifi wifi, Fitbit Versa never synced properly with newer versions of Android… definitely felt like Fitbit was running low on $$ and pulling funds out of R&D/support… things may change now after the Google acquisition.

The Nokia/Withings app seems to work better and more reliably than Fitbit.

  • My original Withings WiFi scale (which I presume these things are based on) is now 10 years old and still going strong. Has never missed a beat (or kilogram, unfortunately).

  • According to BMI - Usain Bolt is overweight. Yeahhh that is really something you should be paying attention to, along with your daily horoscopes.

  • OOS

    • +1

      OOF. OzBargained!

  • Good product. Highly recommended, especially at this price.

  • Does anyone recommend a watch or anything else to keep track with steps in the same ecosystem?

    • +1

For iPhone ecosystem, Apple watch for sure.

      • So best to stick to a Withings watch as well? Nothing worth/able to from another brand that will sync with Healthmate app? This health stuff's all new to me

        • +1

You can import from others apps but if you want just their app it's probably just their stuff.

      • +1

I have a Withings Steel HR Sport hybrid watch. Beautiful watch. Looks just like an analog watch (because it is!) until the digital display lights up with a notification or something else that you might want shown. Just the vibrations are a tad on the weak side compared to my previous Pebble. I've never tried an Apple Watch to compare it to, even though I run an otherwise full Apple ecosystem.

  • $18.90 does the job tracks on an app. Exports to Google.
