This is awesome for the price. I want to track percentage body fat too, so am after a deal on the Withings Smart Body Analyzer WS-50. Let me know if anyone sees any body fat tracking wifi scales going cheap :)

Also if any of you have an old Wii Fit board sitting around, you can hack those to be a Bluetooth scale and send results to your smartphone

    • Didn't know about the Wii Fit board hack. Will have to give it a try. Cheers!

    • I must have the old version of the Smart Body, cause mine does body fat but not the heart rate / air quality stuff. They're a good little unit, and the Withings app with the graphs of your weight is quite interesting.

I find the body fat stuff all over the shop, so I take it with a massive grain of salt, from what I understand it fluctuates wildly depending on a bunch of things, such as how much water you have drunk / sweat on your skin etc.

    • Was going to try out the fitscales app, but only supports 4.1 and below. No ball for kitkat

  • awesome price but i'm a little concerned about the reviews

I've completely steered clear of Megabuy in the past but at this price it was too good to pass up.

    • My only experience with Megabuy was flawless. I paid, they shipped.

  • good deal,I got new model WS-50 at $200 from apple store a few months ago

  • +1

Awesome price and I want one but is it worth the risk given megabuy's reputation. Would go perfectly with my withings pulse :)

    • +4

Honestly, even though Megabuy pulled a total dick move by (IIRC) buying up all available stock & then attempting to monopolise HP microservers a couple of years back; every deal with them I've had was relatively straightforward.

  • good deal,I got new model WS-50 at $200 from apple store a few months ago

  • I own these scales and paid ~$120 for them. It is a nice looking set of scales which sends your weight (multi-user) to a web/phone app. I weight myself everyday so it is quite handy.

I had issues getting the FitBit Aria scales to work on my home network so I swapped the Aria for the Withings scales and have had no issues with the product in over a year.

$35+Postage is a more reasonable price considering the main benefit of the scales is to save a person from writing the weight down in a diary or other companion application.

    • Yep I am kicking myself too… although dealing with the Polar Shop was very easy. I've had mine for 6 months with no issues at all.

      1 x WS-30 Wireless Scale $AUD 129.00
      ————-
      Sub-Total: $AUD 129.00
Express Courier (Residential & Commercial Street address): $AUD 5.00
      GST: $AUD 12.18
      Total: $AUD 134.00

I have the WS-50, it has quite literally changed mine and my wifes lives.

We have lost a crapton of weight and wifi scales much it much easier to track this. The app produces a chart which is very useful to see when your weight is starting to trend in the wrong direction - ie weight loss slowing or gaining weight. We paired this with myfitnesspal for kilojoule tracking.

Of course this all only works if weight is how you measure fat loss - if you are going to be doing strength training then this approach won't work.

Cool story, although without these scales I doubt we would have been successful. They were a crucial element.

        • -1

          yes, ur story is "cool"!

im pretty sure the 10 neggers (so far) are big asses.

  • thanks OP, have the withings blood pressure monitor and it is good, so going to give this a try

  • Thanks OP!

  • +1

OK i've taken the gamble - fingers crossed I don't get screwed by these guys

  • Thanks OP. Have pulled the virtual trigger and bought. My brother has one of these and is really happy with it, but I have been hanging out for a deal on the WS-50 as I wanted the body fat info but for less than $50 delivered (including credit card surcharge & insurance) it was too tempting. Will see how the service goes…..

    • geez, negs. lighten up people! (har har)

  • Anybody got a completed PayPal purchase transaction

    Seems mine is 'pending'!

    10/07/2014 Preparing [PayPal IPN]
10/07/2014 Pending IPN [OK $47.01 (Verified user)]

Why would they manually have to process it, or are they taking orders without current stock!?

  • +1

Just pay by credit card, don't bother with paypal as it adds an extra layer of complexity that these buffoons at megabuy might not be able to handle.. That way, if the delivery takes longer than expected or you get stuffed around, just do a chargeback and let your bank sort them out..

  • They don't deliver to PO Boxes, so unfortunately no good to me.

      Scores from Product Reviews:

      • Excellent - 8
      • Good - 7
      • OK - 2
      • Bad - 11
      • Terrible - 92

I think you'll find they don't deliver to many other places too!

  • It's been taken off their website, wonder why?

  • +3

Here we go.. and so it begins… sorry.. pricing error.. blah blah blah.. 4 weeks for a refund..

    • Probably they left out a 1 in front of the $35

      Should be $135 , not $35

      LoL

  • Oh Oh…

  • +1

Never Ever buying from Megabuy again took me months to get a refund through the courts. Buy from them at your own risk. There has been tons of forum talk advising to avoid them.

    Just received an email update:

The status of your MEGABUY.COM.AU Order has been changed to Processing.

    Your Order has been received and confirmed;
Orders marked as Processing after 2pm should be processed on the following business day.

    Kind Regards,
    MEGABUY.COM.AU Customer Service Team

    • Same here… Hopefully that is a positive sign

      • Reading the reviews I'd say the only positive sign is a recieved and confirmed working product!

Emails/phonecalls/ordertracking information from them seems to be meaningless…

        • I emailed them around 9am this morning to find out why my order hadn't progressed. Had a reply in 15 mins and the order was bumped to processing.

As they say, people only do reviews when something goes wrong, so you hardly ever hear about things that just work.

        • @Chuppa: that's very true. however, it's good to look at the ratios in comparison to similar retailers: http://www.productreview.com.au/c/computing-shops.html

These guys either stuff up much more often. Or when it does go bad it goes really bad and motovates people enough to post.

    • Same here as well…. let's hope it really comes through.

      • Order changed to processed! Lets see if it actually arrives…

    • ditto

Asked them about stock levels in a separate email.

Due to the high level of interest we have had with these items we have needed to bring more stock into our local warehouse, which is expected to land on Monday.

Which means the ETA for your goods has been moved to roughly next Tuesday or Wednesday, however we will definitely still be supplying these goods.

    • Wow must have gotten cheap stock. Better not be refurbished

    • Megabuy claiming they have stock when they don't and then accepting orders and payment. Who could've thought it possible.

I wonder if anyone will receive notification that this product is no longer available and be given the option to purchase a current model at a much higher price.

It's illegal and they've been doing it for years. If it happens to you please do yourself and everyone else a favour and take 10min out of your day to report the company to the ACCC or your local consumer protection agency.

      Bait advertising

Bait advertising takes place when an advertisement promotes certain (usually ‘sale’ prices) on products that are not available or available only in very limited quantities. It is not misleading if the business is upfront in a highly visible, clear and specific manner about the particular product ‘on sale’ being in short supply or on sale for a limited time.

  • I ordered about 2:30pm and have just had an order update….

It came in the mail today! Can't say that I had a bad experience with megabuy.

    • Wow that's quick. You in QLD?

  • Just saw the black model is back in stock priced at $129 + postage. :D

    • hahah wow.. so megabuy came through with the pricing error.. interestingly postage is now $16…

  • My order just arrived (Perth), stoked!
Big tick for Megabuy from me.

    got mine today!

    • +1

might be time to + the deal?

  • Got mine about 5 days after ordering. Good experience from my side of things. Works perfectly.

  • Anyone know what the deal is with displaying a rain animation and umbrella after weighing yourself? It would be great if it actually told u the temperature as well

  • +2

Mine arrived yesterday. Brand new, worked not a problem. Firmware version of 211 is maybe a little old, but that will update itself so not an issue. So a big plus one from me to megabuy…..
