Antibacterial and antifungal are great, although what we need now is antiviral.
Just a word of warning if you have sensitive skin, that the active ingredient benzalkonium chloride, in these types of laundry additives may cause irritation or even dermatitis. I went to see my doctor and after months he referred me to a dermatologist, whose first question to me was so you use Dettol in your laundry? I said no, but I use Canesten and he said there you go that's the culprit.

Same problem here, I don't have sensitive skin and barley get allergy but this bad guy gave me serious dermatitis.
Thanks for the link, good to know as it is also in the new PineoClean laundry sanitiser. Wonder what is better for skin and kills bugs? Any suggestions for alternatives?
Regular soap (soap flakes) kills most germs, and destroys most common viruses.
All you need is a strong surfactant with a high pH.
Having said that, the main reason to use this stuff IMHO is for its anti fungal/sporicidal properties. Plenty of weird fungi and spores can survive laundry soap.
