I was looking for Lanolin to undercoat my trailer for rust prevention. For the 4wd enthusiasts also and general maintenance person.
Fairly cheap compared to the well known brands.
SCA Lanolin Spray 300g $4.99 (Was $9) @ Supercheap Auto

Oil from sheeps wool. Has been used as a lubricant and protectant for centuries. Vikings used it on their ships.
Yep, it's a lot more convenient than rubbing a sweaty sheep over what you want to protect. Not as much fun though.
You need to find a Ouessant sheep. I don't know if they have Australian breeders but they are much easier to rub over smaller items.
How do you get the sheep sweaty?
Banana365 sounds like he knows
I haven't heard of using lanolin for this. Don't people mostly used to use fish oil or zinc paint for rust prevention?
Inox Lanox MX4 is kinda famous for what it is. I have been using it for some time and have good result.
in the USA they use Fluid film which is a lanolin based product for rust protection in the snowy areas. Also mining rigs etc use it too
That's what I thought too.
I tried MX4 as a protectant on an outboard. Being an oil it remains 'sticky', which is a little counter intuitive. When taking the boat out on a dirt track lanolin is all bad. Also smells like a sheep station. I prefer Marine 66 spray.
If it's in a completely sealed place, then lanolin is great.
Silicone spray dries to a dry film. In my experience it needs to be reapplied every so often to maintain protection though. I could be wrong, but I spray PCBs with it all the time and after several months it looks and feels like it's gone.
Lanolin. La – Lanolin? Like – like sheep's wool?
