Certified for Australia use?
The form-factor is Australian, so designed for here.
It does say "Certification: SAA" right up there in the summary, if you read it!
And if you don't know what SAA means, they you don't understand what your question means either.Certified does not always mean a lot, just a promise that they meet standards, so the better question is "do you trust the brand?"
I have no reason to distrust them, and this is not a high-risk component.Except … how does the "without neutral" version work? That is concerning. I cannot think of a nice way to do it.
There's post of those over on whirlpool debating the certification.
Harvey Norman sells them under a different branding apparently.
Even certification is no guarantee of quality or safety.
SAA does not test them, they just profit by selling the tick to anyone who fills in a form, like the Heart Foundation.
It is not worthless, but does not absolve the buyer from checking the quality and considering the risks.I've seen dangerous Chinese power supplies for example, with insufficient isolation between AC and DC parts, so I know it happens.
But what is the concern here?
With others that I have seen with neutral less version they essentially dim the light to a low voltage so it always powers it, but supposedly not enough to power the actual bulb (highly dependant on bulb).
I have been running the deta ones for about 6months now, pretty happy so far bit of premium for bricks and mortar store but they are also touch style.
Yeah .. not "nice" :)
They'd have to put enough volts into the bulb to make it draw a small current. That is fine for incandescent. Way out of spec for LEDs and could have unpredictable consequences, from annoying to damaging. But I guess I can't foresee any safety hazard.I much prefer rockers to "touch style".
I have used the Sonoff mini, which can modify an existing switch, but you need some space and a neutral wire.Is Deta available in a 3 gang? Do you know where to source?
Thanks@igerstep: Funnily I looked 2 nights ago and Bunnings does list the DETA grid connect 3 gang now(I use the 2 and 1 gang), but my store has none of the 3 gang in stock, and looks like they added single plate mount one as well (often used for inside roof plug connections)
They just rolled out The arlec BLE grid connect temp/door sensors (look like rebadged stuff off xiaomi or similar) so plenty of stuff at Bunnings now.
@jcarterd: Weird, only the single, 2 and 4 gang comes up in the search results.
its pretty much exactly the same as the one Harvey Norman's is selling
Huh? You been sniffing bleach again?
Nm. Annoyed at Coronavirus profiteering. First click through to the deal pops up an n95 mask ad
Agree, profiteering is pathetic but still don't know where you're getting that mask popup. I get a sign up pop up.
Only mask ad I see is "Related Store" one above comments but this "related Store" ad placement occurs on any OZB page for any item where deal from same shop has been made
@deltakilo: Was doing one of those 5 second ads before allowing you through. Would only reappear on history clearing. It is no longer showing. Tested twice before commenting. Now appears gone.
Ridiculous
For anyone looking for an alternative I've noticed Bunnings has started selling smart wall switches, power points and in-line switches.
“Go to Deal” not working for me.
Anyone else having problems?
EDIT: all good now.
