    Hi everyone,

    Thanks for raising all of your concerns and massive apologies for the multitude issues that have come about. We know how frustrating this is for you all being uncertain whether you'll get your cashback or not.

    We're working with Dan's to identify what caused some people to not get their cashback initially and to implement a fix. As far as we're aware, a batch of orders didn't feed through to your accounts, however we have forced it through and these would have appeared in your accounts this afternoon.

    There's still other bits and pieces that need to be resolved, but we just wanted to confirm that we are very close to having this resolved for all, we'll keep you updated here when this is done. We still need to get to the bottom of everything, so thanks for your patience.

      But clearly you don't. This type of event regularly occurs with Shopback and seemingly Shopback is aware of these systemic issues yet makes no genuine effort to resolve the problems. Shopback's first response is always to deny responsibility and insist that the customer has done something wrong. Is Shopback just incompetent or operating fraudulently?

      I know that if this happens again to me then its time to close my Shopback account. I think that this may be the only way that Shopback gets the message that their conduct is utterly unacceptable.

We have advised the team to reassess such cases, however if you do get the same response back about the attribution (you shouldn't but if you do though), do PM me your registered email address and I will escalate this with the team.

          Do you think people are still going to want to use Shopback if this is the effort required to get whats advertised every time? You should fix everyones order on your end, not force users to submit a request and then engage with your "support" staff to argue about getting the cashbacks.
          I didn't use this offer, but I'm seriously thinking about jumping ship to cashrewards in future (currently up to $500+ cashbacks + 3 referrals with shopback)

    Disappointing to have received a 'rejected' email on the 29th April, after the rep above posted that they were 'very close to having this resolved for all' in a post from the 28th. I have replied to the boilerplate response referencing this thread and the known issues, so I hope they do the right thing.

    So add me to the list - one rejected and another still pending with no follow up at this stage…

      My cashback also didn't appear, though my clicks were registered in the Shopback system. Filed an investigation and they said "Upon receiving the updates from Dan Murphy's, your Missing Cashback claim for Order ID 99719670 was rejected because your order was not attributed to ShopBack."
      This is ridiculous. I placed the order through the shopback app.
      @gotyourback Please advise next steps.

      We have received all the necessary data for that batch and have passed them through to all relevant accounts, but if you haven't received any tracking by now, you can submit your claim through.

        • Dont give up. Look above to the other posts as to how to handle this. Keep pressing them. They must be held to account. They cannot be allowed to continue to act fraudulently.

        • I suggest to everyone that hasn’t picked up their order yet to not pick it up until the cashback has been resolved or has picked it up but not opened the bottles/cans to return them and lodge an online complaint with dan murphy customer service.

            @OzzyboyBargainHunter: Yeah, I'm at the point now with huge cashbacks I'll return items and if 500 people are returning it's a real pain for them!I know people on here return for $5, I don't do that but for 20%+ I will now.

  • After a few emails, I've finally got my cashback. They're framing it as "a gesture of goodwill" rather than "paying me the money I'm rightfully owed" which is kinda scummy, but whatever, money's money.

        Yeah, it's a pretty short-sighted move on their part. If they'd just owned up to it and apologised, I'd be comfortable using them again in the future… sure, they might continue to have technical f***-ups, but I'd know they'd be able to sort it out eventually.

        As it is, why would I use them again when they could just deny the cashback, blame a technical issue, and say "sorry, we already gave you a goodwill cashback last time"?

          I guess my point is … If we don't trust Shopback, they have until 9 July to confirm OR revoke the cashback decision. In which case, our safest bet would be to not open the purchased goods at all. I am not siding with them or anything. It's just pretty challenging to keep the booze unopened until 9 July.

    I don't think i'll risk it anymore, the only benefit is you can just take stuff back to Dan's or First Choice and drop it off. Postage for returns is a huge pain for me! CR can't even make a claim for 7 days, i think both companies need to sort out issues with major bonus claims, or else people will stop because once you get burnt it's enough!

    I did 2 orders last night, ebay and vinomofo and not one went through! I dont know whats going on atm!

      Yes people should return their alcohol purchases and lodge a written complaint with dan murphy. I’ll be doing this in a few days times if I don’t get the advertised cashback from ShopBack. Cheers

  • I just saw that my cashback claim has now changed from pending to rejected, despite the click registering, and the purchase confirmed 3mins later. Looks like CR from now on.

    Also purchased following all the rules and then rejected, no reasons given that I can see.

    I would encourage anyone with money in Shopback to pull it out, because this sort of scammy behaviour seems to happen a bit with companies that are going to go under.

    I submitted a claim and now the pending shows rejected , says doesn’t meet the bonus conditions . It’s evident that the purchase was made during the correct time period so why wouldn’t it be honoured .

  • Yeah, I'm finding my order via Chrome on laptop not tracking but tracking is generally fine on Chrome via my mobile.

    I may of been using a VPN, that's the only reason id say? However I did eBay 0% and it tracked, and VinoMofo didn't track 5 minutes late exactly the same way on laptop. It's very hit & miss.

    What’s going on here shopback???

    Firstly my order doesn’t track.

    I complete the missing cashback.

    Gets rejected.

    After making a complaint via email, they acknowledge the issue and add my cashback at the increased 20% amount.

    Checking my shopback account today, they have now lowered the cash back amount to the regular %, not the 20% of this deal!

    Others might want to double check if theirs has been lowered too.

    • I just checked. My estimated cashback has been lowered by about $3, which doesn't seem like the full 15% I'm expecting.

    Thanks to those who have reached out to us about the issues you were having. We're aware this is an extra step for you and super appreciative of your efforts. This is a long one, so there is a TL;DR section at the end of this comment too for the main updates.

    I wanted to again thank you for your patience and to also apologise. We take these issues very seriously and it's obvious we've let you down in this instance.

    This the update regarding the Dan Murphy's issues:

    • The batch of orders that we had to upload manually has already come through to those affected - in other words cashback should've tracked already

    • Anyone with rejected claims - please respond back to the rejection email if you haven't already (or email [email protected] with your order ID/ticket number if you can't find the rejection email). The team will be escalating these claims for appeal in the meantime. If you haven't received an email to acknowledge your response within 24 hours of appealing the rejection email, then likely it's been put on hold, but feel free to PM me your registered email address and I'll check to confirm.

    • For those who have been waiting for some time after their rejection was escalated - close to resolution now but I’m seeing on my end that many claims have been successfully appealed, and we’re working with Dan’s to sort the rest. Once everything is sorted all, we will proceed to do a bulk credit to everyone. Stay tuned.

    • There are now reports of people’s cashback values changing - these have been common with those who purchased a few bottles of wine. Dan’s has been adjusting some values on their side which have echoed to our side, but rest assured these will be automatically corrected once they’ve fixed the values up. No action required on your side.

    For anyone that doesn't already know how your cashback is tracked - all brands on ShopBack work with a tracking tech partner which they use for all cashback sites in Australia. We get a feed from the tech partner that tracks all the transactions that come from ShopBack customers. As soon as these show up in our system we then get the money (commission) to award you with the cashback for your transaction.

    To be fully transparent around this offer for Dan Murphy's, the issue came about after the tracking partner they used found a break in their system. This break, unfortunately, hit us/coincided during this flash sale.

    Without going into the details, identifying the issue was not as straightforward as usual and had some unexpected effects with our missing cashback system, causing false rejections to be sent. We are manually reviewing all cases and expect this to be cleared up shortly. Feel free to PM me with any concerns.

    You may have also seen that there was an issue with a BWS offer we ran, super unfortunate timing and no doubt, some of you were affected by this as well. Again being fully transparent, this came about due to the data not tracking correctly in the BWS tracking system. All outstanding issues regarding BWS have now been resolved.

    During our birthday week, we've seen heaps of transactions through other merchants come through fine correctly. That said, I understand this deal affected quite a few OzBargainers and we’ve worked hard behind the scenes to resolve the issue. Also, our communication to you could have been better and we’ll be making some improvements based on your feedback

    I just wanted to let you know everyone at ShopBack cares about your experience with us and we’re truly sorry for dropping the ball twice, this and BWS. As mentioned before, we only make money if your transactions track correctly so if you ever have any issues please reach out and we'll do everything we can to find a resolution.

    For those still who have had their claim rejected, next steps are as follows:

  • Just a warning for everyone to check the cash back was calculated correctly on this…
    I had 3 orders; 2 wine and 1 spirits - I just noticed all 3 orders went through at 15% and they ignored the 20% for wine.
    This was after they missed my transaction tracking like many people and input it manually.
    Spoke with Live Chat and they fixed it on the spot but seriously annoying.
    Check your value people!!

    My cashback is now "confirmed" and the cashback is exactly correct (15%) like what I was expecting.
