[SA] Palmolive Antibacterial Handwash 250ml $2.50 @ Star Discount Chemist, Tranmere

120

Popped into this chemist on a main road, thought I would try my luck with some Antibacterial Liquid hand soap because could not find anywhere at the shops. Looks like they got in stock today and have plenty of it in stock.

  • And the store closes at 7pm. I am at Paradise now so could have got there and bought some if posted early. Hopefully there will be similar deals at other chemists soon.

Any soap will do. Coronoviruses are viruses , not bacteria.

Any soap will do against bacteria too.

      • Antibacterial soaps have all the same properties as regular soap, but with an extra ingredient added that is intended to stop the bacteria remaining on your skin from replicating. The idea is that this additive will further protect the hand-washer from harmful bacteria as compared to regular soap.

Agree that any soap will do if you wash thoroughly enough.

Antibacterial soaps likely contribute to antibiotic resistance and are no more effective than normal soap.

@truemana: Not all antibacterial soaps uses triclosan. The palmolive one has lactic acid in it which is a nontoxic and non-sensitising agent. It is also a normal metabolite of the body. It can be used as a safe and effective antibacterial agent for local applications.

The key phrase in my comment was:

Agree that any soap will do if you wash thoroughly enough.

The one good thing that will come out of this pandemic is that we all now know what washing our hands thoroughly means.
