I saw that too, but the OP's deal is for 2.5". I guess for laptops/enclosures

Agree. When including shipping (to Sydney as an example), umart is $65 delivered and OP's HDD is $90 delivered. Don't really know why you would want a 1TB SATA HDD though (not a 1TB SSD)…..Slow RPM as well. Personally I would buy a 4TB Seagate external HDD for $99 from Officeworks, BingLee, etc than spend $90 on this (and I know they are different drives, but size matters!!)

The product you are referring to has 64M cache, our has 128M.

      • Instead, just buy the newer version for the same price from Amazon if you really want this drive (instead of the older model):
        https://www.amazon.com.au/Western-Digital-2-5-Inch-Mobile-Dr…
Or is it the same version? Dunno - Amazon gave me a link from the specific HDD to "a newer version here"

Sorry, the WD10JPVX has a 8mb buffer not 128Mb, the WD10SPZX has the 128Mb buffer.

      • The link from the deal says 8m buffer.

  • +2

I'd recommend the WD10SPZX variant with the 128MB cache over the 8mb cache for $10 bucks.
The one listed here is a cheap drive, but its nasty too.

  • Rather SSD anyday.

  • 5400RPM HDD? Oof.

    • +1

It is not for running your desktop OS, silly.
It is the faster HDDs that have been killed by SSD, not the 5400, which serves a different need.

But only 1TB? Not so great when 2 to 3TB drives give more GB per dollar.

        But like, $79 + delivery for 1TB.
That’s not a lot of storage for what you’re paying and getting.
Needs to be cheaper to be feasible to me.

Yeah, I didn't vote up. Just saying HDDs still have a place.

          • +2

@bargaino: Yeah they do have a place of course, but $79 + $11 shipping for a TB isn’t it lol.

Same price for the WD10SPZX 128Mb version at MSY, pickup or $11 delivery - https://msy.com.au/wd-25-notebook-blue-1tb-wd10spzx-128mb-54…

Not a bargain for a 1TB hard drive, which isn't anything special. Just about the normal price if anything.

2007 called, they want their 1TB hdd back
