        • Maybe PM that user a deal on hearing AIDS?

        • -1

I think u’re missing the point. Who would want to keep buying nas boxes off deals… because its “no harm in getting one more”

          • +7

@kaleidoscope: Because RAID isn't a backup… so another box you can run a back to, even remotely is a good option.

            • @Elijha: This. +1 for Elijha.

I make a living advising people on how to build storage systems (upto the petabyte range) and if I had a $ for all the conversations that needed to be had to discuss protecting the data (backups and restores) I wouldn't have to work for a long time..

And the principle is exactly the same for the home user..

        Who sunk my battleship?

  • +2

Right place right time if it goes through.

  • +2

Cheers OP, ordered. Not expecting much haha!

  • Probably a price error, but what the heck…

  • +3

Ships from and sold by Tramu Computers.

    Not wasting my time.

    • +2

Agreed! If it was Amazon selling it I would take a gamble, but I don’t fancy anyone’s chances with this third party seller.

    • +2

AKA Umart. A more reputable seller than a nobody, but still not an FBA unfortunately.

      • Not about reputable or not, Amazon would be more likely to send it out as they are a lot larger than any PC store.

      • It's $715 on their site still, so I doubt it'll go through.

        • +1

On a plus side you can normally get a voucher from Amazon.

          • +1

@Clear: I think that's only for Amazon shipped items.

            • @hypie: Then I'll just take my refund if it's not honoured.

  • +4

I do not need it, but order one anyway.

    • got cancellation message.

      • +2

        Your wife terminated the card?

  • +5

    Well that was impulsive.

Is it possible it might be correct due to a newer model to be released soon?

    • +1

Was planned for Q3 2020 now maybe 2021. Also talk of the name being DS921+ as opposed to DS920+

  • +1

    So tempted!

  • wow, more than half price with other sellers

  • +4

Doesn't seem to be available now. If you click Add to Cart it gets automatically removed.

    • +1

      Same, can't add it

      • Same for Buy It Now….. oh well.

  • +1

    I can't get the order…..

  • +1

Wont let me add to the cart, I must have missed it.

  • Can't add to cart

  • yeah cant add to cart either.

  • missed out. had it in my cart

  • cant add to cart so guessing its been removed :)

  • gone i think

  • +3

haha, ordered. hoping for a gift card!

I bought one a couple months ago for $650… love it.

  • +1

    Party is over

    • only lasted for 10mins

      • +2

        I'm reporting you all!

        • Just fyi… mine was cancelled too, no gc.

  • +1

wow… i missed few mins. anyone able to buy it?
    Thanks.

  • +2

My AMEX just got charged for this order.

  • Pretty sure this happened a few years ago with a crazy price error. They all ended up getting cancelled by Amazon.

  • Bought 3 last year, all around $600

  • +1

Just in time Managed to order 1 before it was taken off. Thanks OP. Hope Amazon honours the deal.

    • +3

You didn't buy it from Amazon…

  • misssed out, feels bad
but first time seeing the amazon seller protection, can't add to cart

  • I bought mine previously for $671 with 10% cashback. If my price protection claim goes through, This will end up costing me less than $250 :)

    • +3

update us about price protection claim.

      • Approved today!

My bargain of the decade 😁

        • Lucky you, we all missed.

          • @sendcoupons:

Price Protection, which gives cardholders who use the card to purchase a product and then see the price of that product from the same retailer fall within six months after the purchase date, get a refund of the difference back on the card. The cost of this protection is 0.5% of the monthly closing balance

  • damn just missed it

  • +2

Something probably went wrong with their system integration like in this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/454982

    • I wonder if they fixed the order or just refunded.

  • They probably will cancel the order… happened to me before

  • +1

If its sold by Amazon AU then there will be a chance of getting it honored
or at least score a gift card as a compensation

However, seems this is sold by third party seller
Quite likely that they will just cancel the order if its a price error

BTW, I already have a 418+ at home (2 bays) and been really going strong
Been using the DS Photo, DS Camera, Docker (To host 7-11 python script) and Surveillance station (hosting 6 IP cameras) daily
No issues at all and it has been up and running (non-stop) for over a year now

Remember to get a reliable UPS as well in case there's a power outage

    • @littlesoldier What IP cameras do you use?

      • +2

        A couple of different brands
        2 x Foscam c2
2 x Xiaomi XiaoFang (with hacked firmware to get RTSP stream)
1 x GENBOLT outdoor cam (wide angle water proof)
        1 x Reolink e1 pro

Basically most IP cameras that support RTSP or Onvif will work

  • +3

Thanks OP for posting on the right time - Responded quickly - Convinced 6 out of 8 collegues over video conference we were having - Amazing price bought 6 :)
    Hope they process the orders.

    • +2

I think you got a bit too excited! I expect a few let down colleagues haha.

    • +1

lol Lucky for you you don't have to see them at work the day after the orders are cancelled!

  • +1

    That was fast :(

  • +2

The 3xCamel graph says it all - no chance.

  • +1

    damn… missed

    • Everyone most likely has missed it, the rest just doesn't know yet

  • So cheap now. Unofficially can support 16GB ram. You just need to buy the correct SODIMM 8x2 DDR

    • I run a bunch of Dockers with 8GB, unless you're running VMs 8 should do it. Can Max the 1g ports no problem over SMB.

I use a pair of cheap 256GB NVMe cache drives in raid1 and it flys.

      • Yeah I run 4+ VMs on it. Not sure how much Docker use and how many containers you got.

However it only comes with 4GB RAM which is not enough

        • Updated mine from some old drives to new ones and forgot to format as BTRFS to allow for the virtualisation DOH! No easy way to repartition or change this.
Now I need to figure out how to confidentially backup 6TB of data plus configs and migrate it.

    • Finding "which ones" was a total nightmare when I looked into it.

For any given stick, one person says yay but the next person says nay.

Stability short term is fine then long term is not.

So.. Which sticks are ok then?

      • I briefly recall the ones that go to Mac book pro are of the same DDR timings.

  • sigh… have been waiting for a legit but minimal deal to take this back under $700 delivered for a couple of weeks, and all we get is this non-starter.

  • +1

FML this deal was better than a 7Eleven helicopter special!

  • Damn just missed out. Be interested to see if anyone who ordered actually gets it, assuming it was a price error.

  • Best deal of the month so far.

    • Nothing beats the Telstra deal for the 265 points and $0.

  • the email notification from ozb just arrived 4 mins ago hahahaha lol
Search Alert for amazon Tue, 14 Apr at 5:11 pm

    • Yeh that never works well for me either - always a good 30 mins behind

    • Cannot add to cart

  • Great price if they honor it!

  • +1

  • backed in stock and showed 3 on stock few minutes ago, grabbed one. We will see how it goes

    • +1

dont worry this one is not real

    • yeah, but you'll get the QNAP

      • -1

        QNAP no longer great

        • Synology has some retarded dealbreakers though. Like no private directories.. They're all visible

  • +2

There's no way they'll ship these for that price, unfortunately. I'll eat a roll of toilet paper if they do!
