  • Made an account just to say that they supposedly had more in stock at 5:20am. Got the confirmation so now we play the waiting game

I dont understand. Why are we keep + vote a deal where the seller wont honour the transaction and the buyer wont get what they want?

    • +2

Because life is boring now and we need entertainment

  • It’s back in stock but I think it’s because all orders got cancelled. I just tried ordering again but I’m sure it’s not going to be honoured.

  • Managed to get one, CC has been charged and I got an order confirmation email from Amazon. Guess I'll wait for the cancellation email now!

    • Would they refund the CC if they decide to cancel?

      • I emailed them and this was their response:
"Please allow a few days for the amount to reflect in your credit card account. The charge will be automatically reversed."

        • Ok thanks

    • Ordered one again after the cancellation of yesterday's order. Hopefully this time it will be honoured. Otherwise we should mass report this dodgy seller to Amazon.

  • Been waiting waiting for deals on 918+. Thanks, OP! Ordered one. I hope it goes through.

    • Wait, what price did you order it at? Comment below (posted a minute after yours) says it's back to full price now.

of course he ordered at $305
of course it will get cancelled

  • It’s back at $821 now

For those whose order is pending (at the $305 price), I have some bad news. I inquired further regarding the on and off again availability and this was the sellers response:-

"There was a pricing error on the listing. the item was wrongly listed. Order was cancelled and refunded. All orders for this product have been and will be cancelled and refunded"

    • bohoooo party pooper…..

      j/k

  • Pricing error to cancel orders.

It may be a way for the seller to pump the listing to become a Best Seller

      This is rediculous.

    • Hopefully enough users leave negative reviews to disincentivise that sort of behaviour

we knew that since like… a day ago?

  • Poor umart, getting all one star review now… =D

  • Did anyone get a screenshot for a 28 degrees price protection by any chance?

This is as good as i could get you - https://imgur.com/a/4WGZgv4

      • Thank you very much! I appreciate the extra effort considering you had to block out a few personal details

  • Btw guys, does Amazon have any buyer protection scheme in the case that seller has charged CC and do not return the money after cancellation.

    • +4

or course it will get refunded… dont worry

So epxensive for a box that holds harddrives, probably $25 in parts and a plastic case….

    • +3

By that logic, your phone, clothes, and everything you use is too expensive compared to the costs of materials used.

You yourself are probably worth only $220 in minerals and meat. But you would be worth more to your family or to somebody looking for an organ donor. Worth is subjective

If it was $300 great deal, but it's not it's $800 and for that price you could build your own PC with H/D's included.

        • im kind of agree but somewhere in this thread people said yes you can build cheaper, but not much cheaper if you want the very similar components and factor in the software and support.

        • What about the power consumption of this Nas vs a PC though? Can you get down to the level of power consumption with off the shelf parts? It at least to a level where the extra power consumption is negligible? (Genuine question, riding up between the pros and cons of both solutions)

          • +1

@kiitos: Never really thought about the power consumption, but my 850w psu idles at 70w on my main pc.

I guess a home built NAS without a videocard, and just a few harddrives, would probably be 20-40w

Not sure what a Synology NAS would use.

Nowadays the options are endless, from WD MyCloud and the like, Google Drive and the like, Netflix etc, Android TV boxes(Global TV box etc) to installing multiple HDD in my PC, to simple external HDD. I am even thinking of selling my NAS.

  • Is there a point in getting a 4 bay NAS in raid 5/10 for home use? I use a 2 bay in raid 1 and backup that to the cloud. Is raid 5/10 needed at home (I'm only backing up/streaming family photos and videos to/from this NAS)…

depends on your size of media library I guess. currently, I believe 8Tb drives have the best price and if you expect your library to be more than 8Tbm it will be cheaper to get 4 bay with raid 5
