  • Received on my Platinum Edge.

  • +6

Is it targeted? It showed up on my Velocity Escape, Westpac Platinum and DJs cards.

Worth noting though that the DJs Amex had a $20 credit rather than $15

  • Thanks OP.

  • Gift cards? Physical cards at least may work.

    • +1

I bought an eGift card in the past and it worked

    • +3

I've always bought physical or eGC when these deals are on. Tip: go in-store to consolidate your smaller denomination gift cards into a single gift card

      • nice tip! can you also consolidate e-gift cards?

        • Should be able to; just make sure you have the e-mail with the eGift card details on it

          • @kerfuffle: nice and do you know if you have to buy them direct from david jones? or can you purchase them through discounted intermediaries?

            • +1

@Your Friend: Whoever sells DJs eGift Cards; they can't tell where it comes from unless they do research, which Customer Services definitely can't be bothered to do …

    • +6

Confirmed I bought egift cards on 15 cards and worked on all.

  • Having issues saving the deal and getting the error message

"Sorry. We were unable to save this offer to your Card. Please try again later."

Have come back only to receive the same error message. Anyone else having the issue?

    • +3

I got this and tried a few times, and then I found it was there in My Offers list

      • +1

This. It's like it tries to add twice. So it's saved but then it complains too

      • you're indeed correct, this was the issue.

    • Tried a couple of times but finally worked. You need to keep pressing like a mad man.

    • +1

clicked like mad and still got the error message. I refreshed the page and it shows up as saved now.

      • Thanks just refreshing worked.

  • Dammit bad timing, just bought some lego yesterday!

    • +1

You are lucky to get it before it ran out of stock though

  • +1

Spend $100 get $20 on my Platinum charge

  • Thanks OP, saved.

Also used and saved the previous $100 for $10

  • -1

    Can giftcards be purchased?

  • Got spend $100 get $20 back on the charge card.

  • +1

These Amex offers are getting less and less credit back. Used to good.
A month ago, I had spend $40, get back $10.

    • Ha. That’s only a month ago? Just look at the chain of Harvey Norman cashback starting in 2016 or something. They used to be as good as spend $400 get $150 back. They go down each year. But amex also cut their commission in an effort to make the cards more friendly for merchants and to have them more widely accepted. They have less money to pay with. Don’t complain about free money.

      • I was just comparing to the most recent DJ offer I received.

Amex used to have good offers for T2, 7 Eleven, Dan Murphys, Haighs Chocolates, etc

    • +1

I think the spend $40, get $10 back is a card opening offer. Source: it says so on my new Qantas Ultimate card (and supplementaries).

  • -2

can we pay $300 from three different amex on david jones online?

    • +1

Definitely not. Just go buy three gift cards.

      • -1

how long the gift card to be delivered?

        • I don't know; it depends :/

  • +1

Got it on all my cards. Now I need to find something to buy at David Jones.

  • Wonder if it stacks with a welcome offer - spend $40 get $10 - probably not.. lol

    • +3

      It should

  • Unfortunately its showing 0% cashback on Cashrewards and Shopback!

    • That's not nice! When I bought some shoes back in February, Cashrewards was offering cashback.

      • +2

I believe it stopped beginning of April. No CashRewards, no Shopback and no Velocity/QFF now

  • -1

I have a Spend $40 get $10 back, and spend $100 get $10 back offers from DJ saved on my Amex card.

If I spend $100 will I get $20 back as both offers will be activated at the same time?

  • Anyone else having egift orders cancelled? Of all the things that could be OOS…

Perhaps a new low for DJ online, if that was possible?

    • +2

Nope. Did you buy all of them right after each other with different card names under different e-mails, or one at a time? They usually cancel eGift Card orders if they think you're being fraudulent; happened to a few OzBargainers before.

For what it's worth, I've bought two eGift Cards so far, with one credit received

      • +1

Right after each other with different cards, everything else the same

        • +2

That's probably why they got cancelled. Next time just order one, wait until it gets delivered, then order the next one and repeat.

          • @kerfuffle: Yeah kinda makes sense. This was only a few hours ago - do you think I'm ok to try one now, or needs to be the next day?

            • +2

@BobLim: If you're not desperate for the gift cards, try again tomorrow. Let us know how you go. Otherwise, you might need to contact Online Customer Services and convince them that you're not doing anything dodgy. My account got banned once for a few weeks due to exploiting a loophole and it wasn't until I contacted them and said I wouldn't do anything dodgy any more that they unbanned me (no regrets; I'm sure their IT has fixed that loophole since haha)

            • @BobLim: I've now received credit for my second eGift Card that I purchased on the same account, but in the cardholder name of someone else (thanks Dad for letting me use your name to open supplementary cards!)

              Any luck with you BobLim?

              • @kerfuffle: I got onto the customer service people and they said my account is flagged and they'll try to chase up sending me the 'verification'.

One other order (only one for a few weeks either side and not a gift card) a few months was previously cancelled for the same reason apparently. I don't really understand why they wouldn't just 'verify' me rather than cancelling

                • @BobLim:

only one for a few weeks either side and not a gift card

Weird. What was the item? As ex-staff, I can tell you some items triggered a check on the order e.g. if you tried ordering ten bottles of Aesop handwash (back when they sold it) in one order, they'd cancel it because they know that you'd just resell it for a profit

                  • +2

@kerfuffle: Just baby/nursery toys, total about $25 in September. Turns out that was the first in a string of cancellations from then until now, but the other couple (except egiftcards) have supposedly been for stock availability.

"May we kindly advise that in some instances, we do require our customers to send through identification to finalise the verification of their order. Please note that this is a David Jones policy in place for your own security."

"We apologise for your experience so far. We have been unable to verify your payments for these purchases and therefore haven't been able to complete them."

They apparently need ID/verification but they don't ask for it or offer to facilitate that process, preferring to just cancel orders without explanation??

                    • +1

@BobLim: That's so weird that they'd cancel you for $25 worth of nursery stuff because they thought you were being dodgy.

Who knows how they operate these days. I got out months after they brought in the new website; what a shambles …

  • +1

    Any manual link?

    • Also hoping for a manual offer claim link so I can register my partner's card too (as he didn't receive his own email inviting him to claim the offer).

      • +1

As long as he can log into online banking, he should be able to claim it. I was able to, as secondary card holder. I did not receive an email invitation.

  • Thanks, used it on DJ.

  • Anyone know what has happened to Cashback and Shopback. Not available on Qantas Mall either.

  • not showing any psychical giftcard available, strange

    • You have to pay $5 to get them delivered; just get an eGift Card

      • ok, thanks, i thought delivery is free over $50

        • +1

Yeah, for physical items that aren't listed as exclusions in the free delivery policy. If you buy an item that's $50+ and a gift card at the same time, I think that makes the gift card free delivery but it's been a while since I did that.

Can you pay for a DJ Gift Card with PayPal linked to your Amex card and still get back the $15?

    • +2

Excludes transactions made through a third party establishment or payment processor.

      aka PayPal

  • I received the email ‘You’ve just used your David Jones Online Amex Offer’ but the credit it’s not showing in my online banking? Have you guys actually received the credits in the past two weeks for purchasing a gift card or only the email saying you’ve used your offer?

    • +1

Credit should appear on your billing statement within 5 business days from qualifying spend but may take up to 90 days from the offer end date.

      give it some time

      • -1

I received the last credits from Woolworths and PayPal Amex offers 1 day after the transactions. This one is 3 days and nothing showing yet. Hopefully it shows up soon

        • +1

doesn't mean all statement credits will appear as quickly so, like i said, give it some time before you start fretting.

    • +1

Have you guys actually received the credits in the past two weeks for purchasing a gift card or only the email saying you’ve used your offer?

Yes. Did you bother reading the comments? Sounds like this is your first Amex …

  • A shock when I tried to use my DJ eGC today at a physical store. They said, since about 2 weeks ago, management have decided that eGCs can only be used online and NOT in physical stores due to fraud/security reasons. WHAT?!?

And when I went to the DJ website, their eGC page still showing that it can be used in-store or online.

    Very dodgy DJs!

    • +2

Ask them where it says that as a policy that eGift Cards can only be used online. I haven’t worked there in 18 months, but they’d want to see the e-mail where you received the eGift Card (rather than say a Stocard or Google Pay barcode) at the bare minimum.

Also I would put this on the DJs facebook page if you have facebook.

    • That is a worry. With the DJ's online being so bad I was intending to use these in store, when I leave the house after iso. Really sounds like someone overstepping. Yes as kerfuffle says ask for it in writing. You would think their practices should match what it states online when you make the purchase.

    • +2

Did you print out the e-card or did you just have it on your phone? Either way I don't see how it is legal for DJs to change the way the card is used after it has been purchased just because they are having problems determining their validity. I wonder if you can buy a physical card on the website and pay with the e-card although there is probably a postage charge. In the past I have found a $2 item added to a gc purchase makes delivery free.

      • +3

When I mentioned eGC, they didn't even ask to see my phone or printout.

Due to their dumb system and heaps of arguments, they reluctantly allowed me to use the eGC in the end.

I didn't ask for it in writing as I got the result I wanted after 15 mins of back and forth, calling managers etc.

        • +2

That's probably because they were making it up so had to give in when you persisted. Well done.

    • Which DJ store is this?

  • I tried to buy David Jones physical gift gift card online but they are only selling e-gift cards. Did everyone who have bought e-gift cards got their Amex credits already?

    • +2

Yes, four times. Just don't buy them one after the other if you have multiple Amex cards. Buy one, wait until you receive eGift Card, then repeat.

      • Silly question, what do you buy at DJS even with the 15% discount to make it worthwhile? Price matches? I've found that I've run out of appliances to buy a long time ago - mine last.

        • Skincare, cosmetics, perfume clothes, diffusers, homewares … All the stuff that DJs sells, really.

    • +1

Yes I have also received four credits and followed kerfuffle's advice on staggering the purchases and have had no issues.
