  • This or should we wait for the new AMD CPU's coming out?

    • +8

The AMD is worth the wait.

dayum! that is a lot of laptop for $1500. very temping…

    60hz with 12 thread processor and rtx2060
    facepalm

  • It's been better. Was a G7, 16GB, 17.3 inch, a few months ago.
AMD 4000 is out and slaughtering INTEL.
It's built to order, so expect to get it in 2 months.

    • +1

It's an absolute bloodbath and they deserve it. The slow burn, chipping away at every aspect of Intel's business is satisfying.

      • They finally restocked them! Thanks for the link :)

        • …aaaaannnd…Goneski !

    • amd 4000 laptop is outt?

there are a couple things that stop me from buying this are:

    • 8GB ram
    • 60hz monitor
    • 60whr battery
Not a bad deal, just not great.

    wait for AMD 4900HS

I own this and the throttling on the gpu is a pain in the #&*#. I've upgraded the spinning rust to a 1tb sdd and added more ram which had helped performance. It's pretty noisy when running gpu intensive games.

If I didn't get it as a swap for a g5 1060 system due to graphics issues from dell id look elsewhere.

  • 16GB RAM upgrade possible?

    • +2

Comes with 2 x 4gb so need to fork out for a full 16gb kit..

    • It can take 2x16GB.

  • A few months too early for me, but looks like a great deal.

8gb ram. not really a gaming laptop unless angry birds counts

    • 8GB is fine and you'll be able to play any game with it. But you'll want to upgrade to 16GB at some point to get the most out of the system. 32GB generally isn't needed unless you are running specific apps that will benefit.

      • 2x4gb means to upgrade you can't slap another stick in, gotta get a whole new kit

        • Also do a bit of research, you need specific ram which cannot be overclocked or some other thing otherwise it doesn't work you can't just put some ram sticks in even if you match the clock speed etc etc.

Also the wifi software on these modules is the worst of its kind.

          • @sn809: Ram modules have their own wifi software these days?

            • +1

@wombat81: Wifi software is for the wifi module, fairly obvious if you know a bit about how computers work, but I do apologize if it strained your noggin ;)

    will this deal back?
