If you do the safety modifications you are generally ok.

I'd spend a bit more and get an Ender-3 then get on the Aliexpress life with mods
why?
Better prints and expandability with mods and has a heated bed
This has a heated bed too. How do you define "better prints"?
Regarding modding, what for?
@ocoolio: Better prints:
Less ringing, ghosting, z wobble, bad extrusion, bad heat control, etc.
Modding in regards to upgrading the printer as you go to improve quality and speed, since 3d printing takes a very long time on low speed.
Also the Ender has a much larger build volume.(220x220x250) The OP deal printer has 120x120x120. Building parts over 12cm is very common.

I see your point, but it's worth noting that I have not seen any of these with this printer. Mini's fine printing creates so smooth surfaces that you can't really see the lines unless you scratch it with your fingernail. I don't see how you need better than that.

Common, if that is what you choose to search for and print. However, most popular items on thingiverse are on the very-small to small scale (<5cm), so I'm not sure where your stats are from.
I'm not saying Ender 3 is not a better printer - it is! What I'm questioning that for most people the mini, given its price and size, is a much better option to start printing.
The quality of your 3D prints will be by far mostly limited by your imagination and engineering skills, rather than the quality of the 3D printer.
There is nothing wrong with saying that you like your Ender machine and you don't regret the purchase. But it's getting a bit iffy to state that Mini is downright a bad choice and you really should choose an Ender instead.
@ocoolio: I don't have an Ender, I have a SK-Go but the value of what you get in the Ender 3 kit is industry leading, and that's why it's the go-to beginner printer.
I really disagree on the part-size argument, because it depends what you want it for.
If you're after a tiny build volume for minis, a budget resin printer is definitely a better choice and they're quite similar in price these days.
If you ever want to fabricate something bigger than a soda can or the thingiverse front page, an Ender 3 is a solid beginner choice.
Got mine about a hour ago. Printing the cat.gcode didn’t know 3D printers is so fun!
Jealous im still waiting for mine
Word of advice…. the filament it came with is exactly for one cat.gcode. I put mine in the kitchen and massive wind came through meant I wasted 25% of it….so now I have a 75% completed cat lol. The filament isn’t expected to arrive till 20/4/2020.
That's great that there are still deliveries happening on weekends(let alone over the long weekend). Curious if your order on Amazon stated that it was due for delivery today?
No it was meant for 20/4. Then all of a sudden last night I got email saying it is coming tomorrow. Arrived at door 10am
is back in stock - but seems suspiciously coincidental that it came up not long after my refund of my faulty one came through.
So just a FYI :D
I’ve done about 9 prints now in under a week. It does most prints quite well and our favourite print is Pikachu x Kakashi
I'm impressed too at the print quality for the price. Also some good groups to join on FB and Reddit if interested in being a part of a community of owners and who can share tips. I'm working through my way on an issue with some stringing and being able to print out objects containing finer details so it's been a good learning experience, not to mention the experimental side of trialing different settings and methods so solve for problems.

Im was having adhesion issues but seems to have sorted itself out by adding a layer of glue (UHU Stick) to the bed
Other than that there is some slight vibration noise coming from the gantry on the X axis which im still looking to resolve. I tried printing out the stabliser mod but didnt do much for me
Will do!
I've noticed that similar grinding noise too on the X axis- it's especially loud if it's doing a fast hop across the build plate. On first impressions, it sounds like it's coming from the outboard belt pulley. Might be something affecting the latest batch of units.
I've also ordered a flexi build plate from AliExpress in hopes that it won't be so painful getting finished prints off. One of the groups on FB linked to a well known brand but at a cost equalling AUD$80, I'll take my chances with a cheapie(~$23).
If anyone is interested in selling theirs in Sydney please send me a pm thanks!
On the off change anyone is interested in selling please get in touch. Happy to pay for postage.
What's the go-to for a decent non-mini budget 3D printer these days?
I've got an anet A8, which I got some surprisingly good prints out of, but the widely reported safety issues meant I didn't want to leave it alone while printing, which limited my prints to a couple of hours tops. Would prefer a printer with a lower fire risk.
