    Good price.
Please note bacteria and virus's are different so it may or may not be effective against coronavirus

    • -3

although what you're saying may be true, these wipes can be used more as a preventative measure than to "kill" coronavirus on your surfaces. The virus is able to attach and live on greasy/oily surfaces much better than a dry, clean surface. Hence cleaning your surfaces even with soapy water is a great way to prevent viruses from being able to attach onto your surfaces in the first place - the same reason why we should wash our hands often even though soap doesn't have alcohol or bleach in it.

      • +7

Soap kills coronavirus in both cases

    • They were on clearence for 99 cents in Feb at my local Bunnings. Bought 2 packs then.

  • +3

Keep in mind that viruses are not bacteria.

    Edit: Beat me to it!

  • +7

    Props for stock level listing

    • Except my local store isn't listed.

  • +12

I hope this pandemic teaches people about good hygiene even though this product is not effective against the coronavirus.

    • How do you know it's not effective against coronavirus? Do you know what the active ingredient is?

  • No alcohol = no viral protection

    • +4

Hyrdrogen Peroxide and bleach are also effective.

    • Not necessarily, they may still be effective even if by virtue of the mechanical rubbing action, however will be less effective than alcohol based products
      https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/infection-control/…

      • +2

What you are mentioning is only for sanitising skin. This post is for a surface disinfectant. Bleach is effectice against thr coronavirus. Don't use bleach or peroxide as skin sanitiser. It will damage your skin.

        https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-si…

Diluted household bleach solutions may also be used if appropriate for the surface. Check to ensure the product is not past its expiration date. Unexpired household bleach will be effective against coronaviruses when properly diluted.

  • +2

not going to do much against coronavirus except spread it around on all the surfaces

    • If you have coronavirus on your surfaces, you might want to look at getting yourself tested.

I don't recommend exercising when you have the flu. Rest and recuperate.

      • +6

The only type of exercise you should do is caution…. exercise caution. Get it?!?!?!

  • +6

Thanks, going to buy them all up and send them to China

    • +3

      These are made in China

      • +7

They can have their defective products back. Buy Australian only. Let's keep our borders closed and start the inbreeding.

        Share if you agree.

        • These have been approved for sale by Bunnings.

  • A for effort, but these aren't gonna do much - bacteria and viruses are two separate things.

Just like masks are only for the sick and people caring for the sick right?

      • +3

Well being completely honest, people shouldn't be stocking up on masks.
There's a shortage of them for the healthcare industry as is and if you have symptoms or are around someone that does you should be self isolating.

Let's leave the whole debate of if they even work at the door and think about those that need to wear them. Not your average Joe going to Coles that's for sure.

        • Healthy people only need masks when caring for the sick
        • Don't reuse single use masks
        • Any facial hair will decrease the effectiveness as it is not a tight fit.

If anyone here is panic buying medical grade masks, you're only making the problem worse. Without PPE, you've just put the doctors at increased risk, and thus the community.

There is no stock of PPE in Australia the normal people can buy.

          • @Turd: That's even more of a reason why we need to save our scarce supplies to those that need them most.

            • +3

              @pennypincher98: 100% agree.

              But this comment:

"This is oversensationalised journalism. Hardly anyone wore N95 masks during the bushfires anyways, and the crisis around the world had not started yet. Sending these masks to Wuhan helped doctors and nurses over there significantly in their fight against the initial outbreak. It was right around the national holiday and production of medical supplies had not ramped up yet. This is just supply and demand."

        • +3

Healthy people only need masks when caring for the sick

That's outdated advice now, and was never entirely true in the first place.

Wearing a mask obviously helps defend against airborne transmission of the virus. It's a respiratory virus, so covering the nose and mouth makes sense. Another less obvious way a mask helps is by stopping you touching your face. Your hand reaches up and meets the mask instead of your face. And finally, the "healthy" person may have the virus without symptoms. All three of these reasons are valid reasons for a healthy person to wear a mask when out and about in public - where community transmission may be happening more than we know.

      • No, not like that. Bacteria and viruses are two different type of organisms, and a batericide is not necessarily a viricide. It's like mixing orchids into a monkey's food to kill it, because someone told you that orchids are poisonous to cats. The monkey will be fine.

      • +2

Asymptotic people can spread this virus (ie people can catch the virus and pass it on, yet have no symptoms). Also, people can be infectious before they show symptoms.

Any sort of mask, even a home-made cloth one, can reduce the amount of virus you expel when sneezing, coughing or just talking.

Wearing a mask also helps you to not touch your face.

Government advice to the contrary, I do believe is worth wearing a mask when out. If nothing else, it will help protect other people if I'm infected and don't know it.

    • These are going to clean your bathroom nicely, just like they're meant to.

      • Was that really worth a neg? People aren't buying these for a sudden bathroom spruce up lmao. Hopefully even you can see that.

        • Yeah it was. It's tiring that every comments section of any cleaning related product gets sabotaged by the do-gooders and know-it-alls who need to educate others on what they should and shouldn't be buying or stocking up on, what kills bacteria vs. a virus - it's all been discussed ad nauseam.

This is a product for cleaning your bathroom - the manufacturer makes no claims about it being effective against CV, the OP hasn't, so no need to assume the rest of us are so dumb as to conclude it does.

@dm01: Never underestimate the stupidity of people, fuelled by fear and paranoia in the current climate

          • @dm01: Seems to be something personal against me though. Maybe because I showed you up yesterday about how people don't want to buy luxury goods to pamper themselves with when a significant number of people are losing their jobs.
Just in this thread here, here and here have all mentioned it and you haven't negged them. If you're going to do it so blatantly, at least be consistent.

  • +1

What's the active ingredient in these wipes? Tried finding more information but nothing…
Alot of commercial wipes have benzalkonium chloride which may be less effective than alcohol against coronaviruses
    https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/infection-control/…

The best budget option would be a 1 in 40 dilution of white king (or any other commercial 4% bleach) solution made up freshly daily
    Source: https://www.health.gov.au/sites/default/files/documents/2020…

    • Benzalkonium chloride is close to useless against the Corona virus, especially in a wipe form where it will not be in contact for long. So are chlorohexidine, citric acid and other quaternary ammonium salts.

They are anti-bacterial agents. Rather wash using soap.

I have seen no evidence for or against triclosan.

    • Did you search for the MSDS? That will tell you all you want to know.

  • Stock levels are not correct. Especially with BUNNINGS.

Kotara and Glendale have non as of 10:30 and 10:41, checked in person in store.

PS: both had none yesterday as well.

    Don't get too excited.

  • +11

Fark what a waste, better to stay home people that to all cram into Bunnings for one pack of wipes for cleaning your OWN house!!

  • Why are these stores making people go there. If they allowed delivery people most likely would purchase other items to make the delivery better value.

    • +1

No store is making anyone go anywhere.

      • +1

Actually they are. Woolies has stopped home delivery unless you fit into one of their vulnerable categories.

You're limited in the number of items you can buy, so you can't buy 2 weeks worth and then stay at home.

So if I want to eat, I have to go to my local Woolies, frequently.

        • Once again, no one is forcing you to shop anywhere.

          • +1

@dm01: I don't believe you're offering everyone free contactless delivery?
I'm not sure what you're current situation is - but there's 7 people in my household. 2 packs of pasta and 2 loaves of bread lasts a grand total of 2 lunches and 2 dinners. Fresh fruit and vegetables are needed as well as milk and other essentials.

What's your advice - get everything delivered (if so, from where?) or are you just one of these people who point out the obvious - you can always just go hungry and wait until the entire country has been quarantined until you go out again?
Oh no wait, I've got it. Go out regularly, but use all the masks for the healthcare staff.

            • @pennypincher98:

I'm not sure what you're current situation is - but there's 7 people in my household

But you're quoting the shopping quota of one for 7 people. Just take all 7 and get in there. That is 14 packs of pasta, 14 loaves of bread. Enough to feed a Lombardy village for a week.

              • +1

                @netjock:

Just take all 7 and get in there.

                So many assumptions.
This isn't 7 adults, we are talking about children as young as 9 years old. We are also talking about an adult with pre-existing respiratory conditions. And people still need to work.
With the new coronavirus mapped by postcode, we've found there's quite a few in our area so want to limit contact as much as we can. Hence, one person goes to the shops - who's also working and voluntarily isolates.
                Flattening the curve here guys.

            • @pennypincher98: Last I checked this deal was at Bunnings and they don't sell bread, milk, pasta, fruit, or veg.

              • +2

@dm01: Last I checked the prime minister wanted us to stay inside unless absolutely essential. I stay inside because I know 9/10 is unachievable if we all just decide to have a joyride to our local hardware store or shopping centre every time we run out of something.
People like you are the reason people like me stay inside.

Out of interest, have you bought any Easter chocolates because they've been heavily discounted?

                • @pennypincher98:

People like you are the reason people like me stay inside.

People like me? You don't have the foggiest idea about me or my circumstances, because I don't take to the comments section to complain about everything and overshare.

You don't even know what you're arguing anymore. Just ranting for the sake of it.

                  • @dm01: Yes people like you. I don't have the slightest idea about your circumstances but from what you've commented here it's clear you are still going to the shops regularly and encourage that behaviour.

I know exactly what I'm arguing for, you just don't have anything to say to my last message except for that line.

Now tell me, have you tried to put yourself in someone else's shoes?

                    • @pennypincher98:

…from what you've commented here it's clear you are still going to the shops regularly and encourage that behaviour.

                      Nope, quite the opposite.

I know exactly what I'm arguing for, you just don't have anything to say to my last message except for that line.

I have plenty to say, I simply don't care to respond in length to your diatribe.

Now tell me, have you tried to put yourself in someone else's shoes?

Of course! But once again I'm not going to expel effort to address your dross.

                      • @dm01:

I have plenty to say, I simply don't care to respond in length to your diatribe.

                        Then why are you?

                        • @pennypincher98: I haven't responded in length.

                          • @dm01: But you're still replying which means you care somewhat. At this point, I've literally got nothing better to do besides refresh Amazon lol.

        • You're limited in the number of items you can buy, so you can't buy 2 weeks worth and then stay at home.

You are not living in Australia are you? Who told you to bulk buy and stay at home for two weeks? Or is that a voluntary thing?
