In November they had a discount on the Vodafone TV which they didn't honour blaming it on an "internal glitch" . Ridiculous excuse when they took their sweet time providing refunds

Luvyourphone has been involved in cases such as selling a refurbished phones is "new", and refusing to refund faulty phones. I would NOT buy from them again.

  • My Vodafone TV order back in November has been dishonored either. Not a pleasure experience.

    • fyi vodafone tv box is on sale $72 on vodafone site.

      • That's the standard price.

TTV3 units are very problematic, and very little support

    • I have had good experience with my TTV3. Had few issues with only the odd "Have you turned it off and on again?" moment.

  • No Play Store no thank you!

    • It's Roku based, not Android TV OS.

      • exactly my point. limited rubbish

  • +1

I have more of these media players than I care to admit, mainly for streaming and Plex.

TTV3 is Roku based OS and very good, although the app store is locked down. Plex is available and works well. Remote is good, audio passthrough is good for HDMI connected devices/amp. Probably runs Plex just a "little" better than the Vodafone TV, but a line ball.

Vodafone TV is Android TV based with very little skinning from VF and full android tv apps availability. Probably more flexible regarding apps, UI maybe a little "clunky" and not to some peoples liking. Recently updated to Android 9.0. I like it and a dead set bargain @ $72.

Remote controls on both are really nice button feel, both bluetooth and IR, and simple to use.

If I had to make a call, I'd say just buy the VTV.

Can't comment on seller, no prior experience.

    • Hey how do you upgrade to Android 9.0

      • It's automatic, but if you haven't done it, most would tell you not to. Android 9 removes the ability to read NTFS drives, and changes the Home screen. Have a look at the discussion over on Whirlpool.

  • Do these have Chromecast and can you plug headphones into remote?

    • +1

No Chromecast, it's Roku based not Android based. Also don't believe that the remote has a headphone socket, it does have a microphone though.

      • Thanks. I read somewhere that you can use the Telstra app so it can transmit audio via bluetooth to wireless headphones.

        • +1

I believe the device has Bluetooth so you may be able to connect the headphones directly to the device, (best for someone that has one to confirm if possible) Telstra have crippled the RokuOS with many blocks, so not sure if it will work. I know about the app, but people complain about lag, both on this and the full Roku based devices.

Also note that it doesn't have Chromecast, but it does have a casting feature, so just depends if your phone can support it.

I would personally recommend going for an Android based device like a VTV, Mi Box in the budget options, an nVidia Shield or can't believe I'm saying this, an Apple TV if money isn't a problem before one of these!

  • Mine has apparently shipped. Will let you all know if it arrives and is indeed new in box not a refurb.

    • Did you receive it and was it all as described?

  • Not sure why I’m flagged as store rep. I’m not and have asked a mod to clear this.

  • Telstra TV3 I believe comes with powere on/off button where as the ebay one doesnot. I reckon its telstra tv 2
Just going by the product photo on top.
