  • Centrecom, would you please confirm how many days it takes to deliver? I am in Central Coast, NSW. Also can you clarify the weight of the laptop and battery life? TA

    • For me it was just a day (I'm in Sydney). With reference to many ppl's here, it was no different. They use TNT (IMHO they are very speedy but not very tactful).

    • After we confirm the payment, it should take 1-2 business day to NSW.

  • Does this support docking station? And if it is how much is it to purchase?

    • Also, if I to attach an external display, what resolution does it support to?

  • It would seem the 1600 x 900 is an optional upgrade going by the apc review.

    • +1

The review is not specific to this model.

      • So this is definitely 1600 x 900?

        • -3

          /facepalm

  • Is the Visa Card cash back can be used anywhere in the world that accept Visa?
The site says anywhere online, it didn't mention non-online…

  • S@#$@#$ I just bought a E520 at about that price last week lower specs. DAMNIT!

    • You meant a T520? No way could an E520 sell for that price???

P/S: I may get it now. You paid 699 rite? Not 1299.

  • This is a great deal and very tempted. However, weren't people complaining in other deals about Lenovo taking months to provide cashback? Without checking, I recall people saying 3+ months and still waiting. Can anyone comment on time frame?

Lenovo's website is silent on the issue which worries me.

Edit: OK, just spoke to the guys dealing with the cashback (outsourced). They say up to 10 weeks from validation date…so…that sounds up to 12 weeks.

  • +1

Definitely a better deal than T520, with 4G extra memory and better display card. Now regret to buy the T520 last time.

  • I bought T520 already, should I buy this one and get tax return too? haha

  • CentreCom, any chance for a special for T420s or X1?

    • We will bring in X1 in the future, but don't know whether have cash back.

      • excellent!! looking for the X1!!!

  • Centrecom, can you please confirm the resolution of the screen? Thanks.

    • -3

Don't you guys read the original post???
      "Display: 14.0" LED backlight Anti-Glare (1366 x 768)"

  • if the resolution for this is really 1600 x 900 i wouldn't mind grabbing one, even thought i already bought a T 520 weeks ago - -' otherwise im gona let this deal go since i dont want to wait for another $600 cash back from lenovo.

  • Now this is called a deal but pity that I have already got one T420.

  • I am so tempted, just got a new laptop few months ago.. :(

  • i think its official - centrecom is back in everyone's good books….
(no complaints from me - i bought a samsung off them 4 months ago and all good)

  • Now the question - will they run out of stock before I get home tonight and thus have the chance to order one? :)

With the Prepaid VISA card, what is stopping us just going to an ATM and withdrawing the entire $600 from it, then throwing the card away? I feel like the catch is that they don't have PIN numbers.

    • I think it's an e-voucher, not a physical card, so no luck there.

      • Ah okay, so adding the card to PayPal then doing a withdraw-to-PayPal account then a withdraw-to-bank account is the only way to get the cash back proper.

        • How do you do this? I can't seem to find any option to add money to my PayPal account with a credit card.

  • Just got one. Bit annoyed that they wouldn't let me install the RAM myself but oh well.

    • +2

thought u had t520 just week ago

      • +1

        LOL I do…

        • hey kheob can you confirm the screen resolution ?

        • +1

Yep! It is definitely 1600x900! Proof in a minute.

        • so its definitely 1600x900? nice, im gona grab one after uni :)

        • sigh, why you would need 2 laptops?

        • Bloody hell, now I simply must buy one of these.

        • I don't - this one just seems to be much better value than the other and I can do some light gaming on it. I'm selling the other one or giving it to my sister. It wasn't me who negged you BTW.

      • +3

        Yeah it's definitely 1600x900 - it's a huge difference going from the T520. Here is proof: http://yfrog.com/z/mev4vwj

OP - if you could add this to the description then that would be great as it would influence the buying decision of some.

Also, it has DisplayPort and an eSATA/USB combo port. No HDMI I'm afraid.

        • +1

Fixed for ya. Sounds a GREAT BUY!

And DisplayPort >> HDMI if you want to drive large monitors.

        • kheob,

as you know i also bought T520. tell me does the T420 is smaller than T520. In picture both looks same. or for T420 they simply put smaller screen in same T520 chessie.. Unfortunately i cant find dimenstion detail in lenovo site..

          thanks

    • Rep posted you can request this.

  • do you guys purchase the freight insurance?

    • Don't think we need it. At any rate the lap should come to us in good conditions.

      • +1

Are you getting another one as well? :P

        • But for my TR application I would buy one now lol. But c'est la vie mon ami, you cannot have everything you want.

        • TR?

        • Temporary Residence visa mate.

        • Oh ok. I was thinking Tax Return lol.

        • Lol.

  • any websites suggestions for selling my T520?

  • Just bought one. Now I have a few old bits of tech to sell to 'raise' some funds to pay for it (although it has already been paid for)!

Thanks kheob for confirming the resolution! Can you also confirm that it has a 6-cell battery (or, if we were feeling really lucky, the 9-cell version that juts out the back)?

    • +2

      6 cell :(

      • Thats okay, since notebookcheck.net says that this thing will still last for nearly 7 hours on the 6-cell (with wi-fi off).

One other thing - apparently the Nvidia versions of these laptops have switchable graphics so you can use the Intel HD 3000 graphics chipset for extended battery life - is this possible on yours, kheob?

        • +1

From what I understand, it does it automatically if you're not doing anything too graphically intensive. Don't quote me on that though as I don't have time to play around with it yet (mid-semester test tomorrow!).

  • +2

Thanks OP - I is poor again :P I ordered before the Screen Res was confirmed at 1600x900 … so I have an even bigger grin now!

I also noticed on the Scorptec link for the same model it lists "WWAN" as a feature and the specs posted by the OP show "modem" in the Network list… So can Kheob or CentreCom confirm if it has a 3G WWAN (behind the battery) installed as well?

    • +2

I'm currently charging it so I don't want to remove the battery just yet. I'll let you know as soon as it's done though (if I remember).

    • I just checked and it DOES have a sim card slot. Another pleasant surprise. I put in an old sim card and it detects it.

      • +1

Awesome news!! Thanks for checking it for us!

I thought it was ready for one on the Lenovo website when you spec up the 1600x900 display it come with W Wan antenna built in!

I assume under "devices & hardware" it would turn up as an Ericson 3G or similar… The laptop can't arrive fast enough now :P

        • +1

Oh I didn't check the devices but it did allow me to select 3G antenna under the wireless settings.

        • does that mean it allow using data via 3g network once you inserted your sim card in?

        • +1

          Yep.

  • Can I return my L420 that I ordered 3 weeks ago and buy this one?

  • Just ordered one, thanks for the confirmation on the 1600x900 screen. Seems like a great deal.

  • $600 dollar cashback is a lot but you need to pay $1299 first.

How long does the cashback take? Generally speaking cashback takes ages….

    • +1

Looking on Whirlpool indicates it can take up to 3 months. I'm not too fussed though - Lenovo is a reputable company and it'll come when it comes. Considering I have put through a number of cashback applications on Acer products bought in the past and they all came through (eventually), I have a good feeling about Lenovo (a company producing better products with better after-sales support).

  • +1

    i hate cashbacks. i dont have $1300!

  • What kind of warranty does this have. I realise it's 3 years; but is that for on-site support, or do they pay postage to a repair center or……..

  • SOLD out already???

    • Wow that was much quicker than last time.

      • +2

It's a better deal than the last T520 IMHO.

        • +1

Yeah definitely. Hopefully they get more stock like the T520.

        • +3

this config is over $2000 on the lenovo website (and no moneytree card either). a true bargain. I have a T500 that I use at work and it is fantastic; looking forward to being able to enjoy the same quality hardware at home.

Would be good if CentreCom can confirm they are out of stock/sale is over/what is going on, though.

  • sold out now…

  • -1

Some asshat copied and pasted my eBay listing title and undercut me by $100 for the T520. He also copied my photo arrangement.

'The box has been opened to take a photo of the item (see photo) and to verify the contents and make sure everything is in perfect working condition (No dead pixels). This laptop has NEVER been used or left its box after taking the photo and verifying the contents.'

    Really.

    • +1

Put the blame on Centrecom lol.

      • It's very strategic what Centre Com did I think. Release an awesome deal and two weeks later release an even better one knowing people will flock to it. If they had released this when the T520 was released I don't think the T520 would have sold nearly as well.

Anyway, if you're going to undercut me, go right ahead. I'm just annoyed that he copied my title and photo. Good thing I've got 100% feedback whereas he has 85%.

        • I won't do that lol. Still in the box coz I want to use it as a gift for my parents' friend. I'm still using a 5536G Aspire. Been using it for nearly 2 years, hardly turn off so I reckon in terms of money Acer's product is not so bad. Not on par with Lenovo's Thinkpad though.

        • Haha sorry I didn't mean to direct it at you. I was referring to the guy who posted it.

    • +1

such is ebay… people just wants to get rid of their stuff fast and make quick bucks, so they do anything to get there…

      • The sad thing is people actually believe what some people post. Take out a sealed laptop just to take photos? Who does that?

    • -1

"copied my photo arrangement" ?! LOL, how should they do it to make sure they don't copy your arrangement?! Take a photo of it underwater?!

    • You are trying to sell a $600 laptop for $800, so I'm not sure how you can take the moral highground here.

      • -1

Don't give me that ethical crap. NO ONE would sell it for $600 if they knew they could get more.

      • +1

But the best price on Ebay is round 1000? And he paid more than 1200 bucks upfront so IMHO 800 is a reasonable price.

        • +1

He/she is selling it with starting bid of $849.99/BIN$899.99, the other person is the one who is selling it for $800 with free shipping..

        • ^^^It's you isn't it? And no doubt if I list it first the other person has the opportunity to undercut me. Nevertheless, I'm leaving it at this price and hopefully the buyer will be turned off by the other person's seizure-inducing text.

        • No buddy it isn't me, I am a happy T520 owner and been using it for ages by now ^^ Good luck with your listing!

        • +1

          Thanks :)

    • Report it to eBay and they will shut his listing down.

  • +2

Imagine the thinkpad deal next week…

    • +1

soon enough we'll hear about lenovo pulling out of the PC market after HP, and selling laptops at even crazier prices :p

  • +2

Anyway, just to confirm (in case no one sees my post above), this laptop does have WWAN.

  • now let's waiting for the X1 coming…

    Centrecom 2 hours 41 min ago ¶

We will bring in X1 in the future, but don't know whether have cash back.

  • +3

2 Lenovo laptops in 2 days…..I'm going to have to put an IP block on OzBargain so my credit card can recover and my wife doesn't find out.

  • lol just bought 2nd lenovo T series and i dont regret it when comparing T420 and T520 side by side.
went centrecom 30 minutes ago apparently there were 7 units left in stock. not sure about now :).
and as for the rams the sales told me it originally have 2 x 2gb and they have to take out 2 of them and put 2 x 4gb in. but who cares lol.

    • The guy told me Centre Com had to install it for warranty purposes! I don't know why they can't just give us the extra 4GB to install ourselves.

      • Nonsense, CentreCom REP mentioned in page 1 of this post "Normally we will install it for customer, but sometime customer want to receive as sealed box. We could attach the memory separately." Plus, upgrading memory by the user/owner does not void warranty at all!

@abckids, the specifications in page 1 state that it is one 4GB stick (4GBx1) Memory RAM, not (4GBx2).

        • Yeah I was about to mention that to him but I figured I'd just let them do it to save the hassle.
