    • Oh, I thought this is a delivery only deal? You got the same package for the same price and picked it up from the store?

      • +1

Yeah. Same deal in-store. Ask for it, they have a paper printed barcode at the checkout desk.

        • That's good to know. I baulked at the delivery cost. I wouldn't have minded walking in the store and picking one up.

  • Plenty of stock at my local store but I can’t fit it in my Dualis and none of my mates with utes are available to help me out

Selling fast, saw a bloke walk out with two

    Won’t last long

    • Can you do a C&C order then arrange a pick-up later?

  • Anyone know if its possible to attach a rod holder?

    • There doesn't appear to be anywhere you can attach a rod holder. Purely recreational/fun watercraft - not intended for fishing.

    • +2

Yeah you can add an aftermarket one.
I picked up a berkley one for $29.95 in store today with the kayak, 4 screws and silicone and its good to go.

        That's great news. Cheers!

  • Just bought two at Hopppers Crossing. Still plenty of stock left. The dude said they sold half of their lot already. They are quite big as ppl have mentioned. I drove a SLWB Hiace to pick the damn things up. Quality is ok. Entry level, but not too shabby. If you know how to swim, then life jacket should be ok even if your over 70kg. Obviously, not speaking about legality here, just practicality.

  • Anybody been near Heidelberg (Preston) or Highett Victorian stores for a stock update?

I'm out on holiday for the weekend and just curious to save me asking anybody to drop in on my behalf.

Also curious if anyone can comment on just basic use. I'm looking to cruise up and down the Yarra from the back of my area and have been wanting to buy either a sit in or on for quite a while now. Only looking for one for fitness.

Not in VIC sorry mate but can comment on it.
It took on a bit of water from just leisurely paddling around but not enough to ever think it would sink or anything.
Glides very well and its stable.
I’m 6’2 and 90kg if that helps anyone, I also have a child that weighs 20kg and although it slowed us down kayaking together due to the extra weight, it was easygoing.
The dry storage was full (to the top) with water after being out for an hour and the sticker inside it said its not 100% waterproof and to use a drybag in addition..
It’s incredibly small, like you could store 2 sandwiches in it or a phone and keys but thats it.
The paddle is decent in design and feel but looks a lot like a few i’ve had that rust easily over time so i’m on the fence about its quality for now.
Jacket is rated to 70kgs, I dont wear them, my wife will so its a bonus.
It has a little wheel on the back which was handy to drag it over the grass before the sand but you’re pulling on a corded handle so it will rock side to side a little so not suitable for pulling over rocks or concrete, it also doesn’t look removable so if it rusts up one day or wears out then a kayak trolley would be needed (if you can’t carry 17.5kgs with any extra gear for very long)

Overall for a trip on the yarra I’d say it would be perfect, for ocean beaches I’d be skeptical due to width but the bay would be good to, and it’s comfortable enough for a trip from say stkilda to brighton and back.

      Anywho, hope this help you.

Also anyone on the sunshine coast in QLD, there was maybe 40 red and 50 blue at the store in kawana at 10am today

      • Very helpful indeed!

Im sort of still kn the fence then and wondering if I just spend a little more and spring for something a little quicker and more water tight. I've always been leaning towards a sit in but this is cheap enough to at least try it out. I'm thinking I'd do that and upgrade at a later date given I should get a large part of my money back.

My walk to the Yarra would be about 3-400m so I'd be carrying it anyway. 17.5kgs seems considerably light actually, assuming it's not an awkward weight to carry. I know carrying our fibreglass ladders can be a pain if you can't seat them in a comfortable carrying position, otherwise you can carry them for quite a while.

Was the water ingress an issue 2-up or is this just common all the time? The Yarra is very calm and I'd only be using it myself - 85kg, 5'9.

        Cheers!

        • Nah I think the yarra would be great for this,
I took it out again today without another on board and it was great!
Caught a nice bream on it too!

For the price its a steal.

          Worth it IMO.

@ozy: Ended up buying one. Considering it's my first, I think it will be perfect and if I don't like it or want to upgrade I'm sure I should be able to get the bulk of my money back.

Thanks heaps for the input, it definitely assisted the purchase having to wade through the negative comments/reviews but I think the bulk of them are either people that don't have one, have a better model and trying to justify their expense or don't know what they're doing and/or haven't used the one they bought.

Looking forward to a different mode of exercise! 😊

How do you go about carrying your rods? Anything specific you've rigged up or do you just slide them in the netting at each end? I might try and rig up a trawler rod and a small tackle bag to drag behind me while I get my paddle on. 👍

            • +1

@db87: A floating esky on the front would be ideal but I just use a drybag, rods in the holders tilted down when paddling,
When transporting it all I just park close to the river/beach haha!
I have a trawler on the back and a collapsible abu 7’2” on the front.
I could get a kayak trolley but i’m fit enough to carry all the gear so I’m not too worried about 25-30kgs total.
              Glad I could help mate.

              • @ozy: FWIW I slide the paddle in the netting and feed it back up into the front ‘storage’ netting, esky over my shoulder with a bag on my back for bait and tackle and collapsible rod, when I’m transporting I just hold the loaded kayak and a trawling rod

              • +1

@ozy: Sounds right up my alley and a perfectly workable setup. I don't have anywhere near as much gear but good to know I can chuck a couple of rods on with me and have a crack. 👍

                Good stuff mate, cheers again.
