I got one of these when they came out and after like a month of usage, got tired of the slow, outdated OS and the random resetting, sent back for a refund to get a galaxy SII and kissed Nokia good bye for all the years we were together
Nokia know how to loose loyal customers and I was one of those, not to add the incompetent guys from online customer support.
Android still better option here.

with the new symbian anna/belle, its probably better than the previous OS…

I think you should draw some distinctions between:
a major australian retailer;
a parallel import by an australian online store;
ebay with an OS seller.
One word to keep you away - "Symbian"
Great phone and when you upgrade to Symbian Belle makes it much better.

I still don't see how Symbian is better than Android.

Having said that, since Symbian Belle is not officially out yet for the N8 it's probably worth waiting to see what they have in store for the Win7 phone - at which point the N8 price is probably going to plummet anyway.

I'd settle for Maemo/Meego too. Just not Symbian!

Nokia produced this amazing time lapse film shot completely on an N8:
At Times, when Nokia was on top with most reliable phones ( they still may be) , better battery life ( there were also very few features) and very good reception.
WiFi, WiFi HotSpot, 3.5" jack, GPS, multi touch were some features, which were restricted to only very high end phones.
Android killed Nokia. HTC, Samsung, LG & Huawei took advantage to make very good phones where u can get these so called premium features of Nokia in a cheap phone from $50.
Symbian kept thinking, they make the best software and it sank Nokia with it.
I think, Nokia shd not stick with Windows and have both platform phones to give customers a better option.
Saw this, Great price ! Neat Phone ! Superb Camera !, BUT pity the OS sucks… lol
