The reviews of Tangerine on Whirlpool are generally not favourable.

Rubbish isp, was with them for 3 months, was okay until speeds kept dropping making video streaming unbearable, churned to superloop and speeds back to 90+mbps no issues since then.

Worst provider, particularly if you actually use your internet. Lol
Was with them before and changed after a couple of months of terrible throttled speeds.

Agreed, I switch from ABB to Tangerine as my 6 month deal expired.

It has not been the best experience.
      - Latency is extremely unstable so it's not suited for gaming.
      - Had to call in a couple of times to run troubleshooting steps with their offshore tech team, issue was the long wait times.
      - A lack of online self-serve troubleshooting tools, was unable to kick my own connection to restart.
      - Connection runs out of PPPoE which means BYO devices must be setup using login and password. Took a phone call in order to get my login details (Tech support confirmed it should have been sent automatically).
      - Speeds are constantly bouncing to 24 mbps even though I'm on the 50 plan

Interesting; I've had the literal opposite experience, and I'm a network engineer by trade, I USE my net HEAVILY with some pretty ping (and route) critical stuff….
My speed is super stable, my ping is A++ at all times, and on the 2 outages I've ever had, I was able to call directly to a technician, and have them on-site within the hour.
I was gonna praise them, lol. Sad to hear people don't like them much :(

It was the exact opposite experience from ABB, who promised things on the recording, admitted they promised them, then told me "We're not going to honor that". Huh?
Then they refused to provide my VOIP lock code to the new ISP, had to go through some fighting to get that to happen.
Basically took my money, and then laughed at help. Not happy.
They even sent someone elses details to me and didnt inform them, I had to.

I guess my experience is not the norm.

There's always an outlier in every scenario eh?

  • i must be lucky, was easy transfer from Aussie. I am in Port Stephens NSW and constantly have normally around 43-45/17 on the 50/20 plan. No drop outs or problems so far. Touch wood been a few months now.

    • Yes, That's what I'd like to know form others as well if they have experience the same recently or it was age old.

      As these reviews say otherwise

It depends where you live. If Tangerine buy enough CVC and some parts of the Vocus network may suffer from slow speeds during peak time.

        • Vocus was Eftel and aaNet; that explains why it's so good.
Must be something to do with state.

I heard nothing but horror stories online from users around Aus, but living in Brisbane, aaNet used to be SUPER popular in the geek scene, and they were nothing but praised.

The Superloop deal is cheaper and are connected directly to the nbn POI.

Tangerine are not connected directly to the nbn POI, a Vocus reseller and may suffer from slow speeds during peak time. At least there is no contract if your not happy.

      U’r Right. Superloop is great.

  • Have I missed something or are Telco's no longer making mention of Upload speeds in their NBN plans any more?

    • Some of the bigger ISPs have stopped advertising the upload speeds because the ACCC think download/upload is too confusing for the average Joe.

      • +1

It's a crazy world when people think less information is somehow more helpful.

        • Yeah rather than educate people some ISPs just remove it.

          • @Twix: Real annoying because half the time I’m finding the plans to be 100/20 now instead of 100/40

            • @MBix: It's up to the ISP if they want to offer the new 100/20 speed tier only or both the 100/20 and 100/40 speed tier. ISPs who offer the 100/40 speed tier are Superloop, Aussie Broadband, Future Broadband and Launtel.

  • Just joined two days ago. I'm on the xxl speed boost plan fttc and been getting around 92/37 speeds.

Superloop is the best atm. Also offering $20 off first six months

Coming to the end of my superloop 6 months. Who should I churn to?
Tangerine is the only provider at similar price.

    • How much are you paying and what speed tier?

      • 25 unlimited. Looking for stability rather than speed.

        • How much do you want to spend per month?

          • @Twix: $50

            • +1

@Kanjus: Maybe try Tangerine and if your not happy you can easily change ISP.

If you can stretch the budget a little the next best are..

              Internode 50Mbps $60 with a 6 month contract.
Superloop 25Mbps $65 with no contract.
Aussie Broadband 25Mbps $69 with no contract.

              • @Twix: Internode might work. Thanks. Any idea how superloop class 'new' customers? 1 year?

                • @Kanjus: I think 6 months for Superloop.

    • What about Vodafone deal

  • Launtel 25/5Mbps comes in at $3-5 or so more a month. $25 off first month too. With open CVC charts and daily changes why would any one want this? Tangerines are known to easily sour. Stick to oranges.
