These are amazing, I keep one in the car with a cigarette adapter for doing repairs.

I use one on my desk to build race drones.

And I keep one in my toolbox with a molex\sata power cable (12v rail), to fix wiring, or custom wire fans.

    I should buy more.

    • This is replacing a cheap Hakko copy soldering station from ebay, im only using a 12v 1.5A power supply i have currently and it still heats up ALOT faster than my ebay solder station.

      • +2

Oh yeah, 12v still gets it to 350C within probably 10~15 seconds; but I'm ready to solder before that.

19v 2A+ laptop power suppliers are the king for these things.

        5 second heat up time.

  • Does it come with the power supply? Seems that it does not, but it is not explicitly stated.

    • None of the other suppliers do; so I'd assume not.

19v laptop power supplies are the sweet spot for 'high power' but 'safe for the VRM'.

Gets to 350c within 5 seconds.

    • +1

The TS100 never come with a power supply.

      • This. A cheap variable laptop power supply should suffice for powering it.

  • What kind of power supply should I buy? Current capacity? Any form factors?

  • Bought, thank you OP.

  • There is no Earth connection. Be ware of ESD. Not recommend for IC, Mosfet …

    • +2

It does have an earth screw-down terminal. Finding a PSU with an earth spade connector is a different story

      • Yeah. There is a screw. But it's a pain.

        • It's more for an anti-static wrist strap.

          • @endotherm: Buy why would you connect your wrist strap to an ungrounded soldering iron?

  • Can someone explain the CNC aspect of this to me?

  • +4

Bought one of these on a whim 12-18 months ago just to see what the fuss was all about. I soon found out and now use it instead of my Hakko 936. A great little iron which I mainly use powered by an Ozito 4Ah Battery using one of their $10 Standard Chargers as a base. Haven't finished it yet but I'll take some shots when I get home. Removed the guts of the charger as that will be where the iron & tips are stored when being transported. Just need to throw some hinges and a latch on it then it's done. Hmmm, maybe I need a second…. hmmmm.

    • +1

      Very interested to see this!

      • +1

It's only a prototype at this stage so it's a bit rough but yeah, works SO well and with 21V to play with and loads of current on tap it heats up extremely fast. Once I get the hinges & latch on the two halves I'll then look into attaching an iron holder and will add a switch & fuse/breaker then it'll be done. I'm hoping to get it so all the bits & pieces fit into the shell so it's a nice neat little unit to carry around. We'll see. It's difficult doing this fun stuff without a workshop but that'll be coming within the next few months (fingers crossed) then it'll be on like Donkey Kong :)

        OK, here are the pics…

        Any questions, ask away!

        • Thanks for sharing. Well I'm complete noob on this iron but I do know how to use an traditional one. I want this mainly for soldering my R/C hobbies. My question is what kind of power supply do I need to build a soldering station like yours? Corded and battery powered which one is more recommended? I have 3 Ryobi 18v so batteries not gonna be a problem. Cheers!

          • @WayneOZ: They can be set to run off LiPo hobby batteries as well as a power supply.

        • +1

That looks soooo awesome, the only suggestion that I could make is to create a socket for the cable going to the iron rather than hard wiring it.

          • @moonpen: Oh yes, absolutely. This is still just the prototype as I needed to prove the concept before wasting what little spare time I have getting it schmick. Iron holder, DC socket, switch, fuse/breaker and the hinges & catch will finish it off nicely. Oh and a nice handle on the front too :)

    • +1

Just as I was planning, to use an 18v aeg battery.

    • +1

I’d love to see pictures of your setup.

      • +1

Yep, I'll take some when I get home from work today and post them here.

      • +2

        Pics posted above…

    • +1

I love everything about this idea!

Im going to do the same if i can find a broken ryobi charger.

18v ryobi one batteries, i have many!

  • +1

I have a Goot RX-711 soldering station but I prefer the TS100's speed and thermal recovery. At this price I'm tempted to replace the Goot with this. The Goot's ergonomics are nicer, but for shorter soldering jobs, this is fine.

I recommend getting a silicone cable like this. You can cut and join the cable from your power supply to it, or you can buy the 1.5m one and just replace the whole cable. With this cable the iron won't be pulled down by a heavy inflexible DC cable.

    edit: wrong link

  • If I want to use an iron with power bank is it better to get TS80?

    • +1

Yup, less hassle… although you could get a Type C PD trigger which will allow you to use a Type C power bank with this TS100.

One thing I prefer on the TS80 is the shorter tip to grip distance. The quick-change tips are nice too! Makes it a lot easier to pack away too, as you can just pull the tip off.

      • Thanks.
Sounds like TS80 will be better for me.

  • Bought it. Thanks. I have a PD to 12V cable. Will try if it works with my PD powerbank.

  • Is it easy to get replacement heads for this?

    • Yep. Search for TS100 on eBay and all will be revealed. Hundreds to choose from.

    • Super easy.
I buy sets of 5 from banggood.

Not that ive needed more than 1 yet, and thats because i used the original for plastic welding and damaged it.

  • Is this website a scam?

    • No, that is exactly why i waited for my TS100 to arrive before posting this deal.

    • +1

my order made on 21 feb is still in the confirmed stage, i.e. i haven't received confirmation that it has been sent out. so, i'll give it a bit longer and see what happens with it. it does feel a bit scammy at the moment, though.

      • +1

I ordered on the 22nd, and in the same situation as you: confirmed but no dispatch.

Sent them an email this morning to see what's happening, I'll post again if I get a response.

        • Here's the response I got overnight:

          Hello friend,

This product is hot sales, Now is out of stock.
This week i will add more stock to send, hope you can understand.
          Have a nice day

          Best regards
          Insker Team

Hopefully it gets dispatched sometime soon.

          • @Srey: Hopefully…

            Thanks Srey!

            • @Yosan: Just got a dispatch email! Along with this message as well:

"I know some australian friends order this hottest items,
Please let them know, just relax, i will send the product as soon as possible,
Because our local warehouse has no stock now, i will try to send from UK warehouse, need test the shipping time,
Please help me ask them, don't worry."

Given that other people have bought from the successfully I'm inclined to believe this, looks like it genuinely could be a supply issue cause they got ozbargained.

        • i had no notification up until today. i emailed them asking what's going on, received an apology and then 2 hrs later confirmation it has been shipped. so we will see.

        • I have just emailed to see what going on with my order.
It does look a little suss to me. Looks like they are only shipping if you make an inquiry as Koom advised shipped only once inquired. I will advise the response, but looks like they are hoping people forget.

          • +1

@RandomBob84: I never contacted them at all, but I too received a shipping notification.

            • @eug: Yep, same here eug. My notification literally just arrived.

              • @SteveAndBelle: I received my notification, but have you seen the actual tracking number?
Takes me to lePost, which doesn't recognize the tracking number.
                Dont like my chances…

                • @RandomBob84: Hmm, very good point. I did test it when I first receive it but did so on my phone so when I saw it fail I wasn't too bothered. I had forgotten to follow this up on a PC but yes you're right, my tracking number can't be found either. Hmmm. Paid with PayPal though so should be all good to get a refund.

                  • @SteveAndBelle: yep tracking number doesnt work here either. useless

                    • +2

@koom: I had the same issue, tracking number went to le post and wasn't recognised.
Insker emailed early this week to see if the order had arrived and I told them it hadn't and asked about the tracking number.

They said not to worry about it (worrying) and that this was the first time shipping from that warehouse to Aus (apparently my order was the first shipped) - also worrying.

Good news though, it arrived today! Iron looks great, even more compact than I was expecting, just gotta sort out a decent lead for the dell PSU I snagged now.

The carrier listed on my parcel is Deutsche Post, and it definitely has the tracking number that the seller supplied under the barcode. I still get a "not found" if I try and track the number on deutsche post though.

So definitely not the most straight forward order I've made, but it does look legit. All the updates they sent make sense with the timeframe for delivery, could be that they legit got inundated with orders and just weren't ready for it.

                      • +1

                        @Srey:

Here's one for your consideration. It's an extra-flexible silicone lead.

                        • @eug: Thanks mate, I actually got that link from your earlier post and ordered two of those leads yesterday. Fingers crossed they don't take too long to get here so I can get the thing running!

  • Has any one asked for a refund?

    • ive started a paypal claim now

  • Still no delivery for me :(
    Ordered 28th Feb

    • i opened a paypal dispute, they asked for 5 more days. if nothing comes by thursday i'm escalating it. they said they'd refund it.

    • +1

Yep, I just bit the bullet too. I like giving sellers the benefit of the doubt but I feel this is pushing the friendship a bit. Dispute opened.

  • +2

Just let you guys know that I just received it this morning.

I lodged the paypal dispute and the seller told me it was sent out but no tracking number on it. I replied that I will wait until the month end to see if I could get it. I suggest you guys just wait for a while as they should arrive these days.

    • Yes, I received it today too.

    • Thanks for letting us know. What day was it marked as shipped?

I've just emailed the seller, no dispute raised yet.

      • Placed the order on 21/2.
        Lodged the dispute on 20/3.
The seller replied it was sent on 6/3 as the regular post.
        Received the package on 24/3.

        • I still haven't received mine either. Emailed them again. They emailed early this month saying ti was sent with t a tracking number.
That tracking number is fake by the looks of it as nothing comes up. Emailed them advising as such and requesting a proper tracking number or a refund.

          • @RandomBob84: Emailed the seller through paypal also and all they said was its posted. Asked them to confirm the fake tracking information they sent me but no response. Escalated the claim to PayPal who once reviewed the information have refunded me.
Hope you guys either get your item or refund.

            • +1

@RandomBob84: It will arrive eventually in the about a week or so. Will you return the product?

            • +1

@RandomBob84: Not sure I'd go as far as to call it fake tracking. Legit number, just not track-able. Not sure if they were originally supposed to be sent with tracking? Certainly shipping notifications incorrectly listing it as traceable was a mistake.

PS. If anyone has a Gooloo jump started powerbank, the iron works quite well using the 15V DC jack via a 5.5x2.1mm to 5.5x2.5mm cable. Not sure if anyone sells such a thing, but easy enough to make.

  • Good news guys, the item just popped up today on my AusPost app with Tracking. It's on the way to my parcel locker!
This is the first time ive seen it tracked anywhere

    edit: ready for pickup

  • +1

Just received my two TS-100s today. WOOT! Packet shipped date was 6th March so yeah, all good… just took a little longer than expected but all angst & speculation could've been easily avoided with a working tracking number. Hopefully a REP heeds this advice for future deals. Cheers OP!

    • Hopefully they don't get penalized or disadvantaged by the PayPal disputes that were filed!

      • Yeah, not sure. I think (& hope) if they're closed out properly all is OK.

  • +2

Mine arrived today. I did not file a paypal dispute. Poor saler must be disadvantage by all those disputes due to poor communication.
It is so light I thought it was an empty box.

    • +1

Mine arrived yesterday. Hope everyone gets theirs, and not forget to cancel any disputes if that's possible!
