Read some reviews on Logitech's Lightspeed tech. It's actually very good and has little to no lag.
Can also use as a cabled mouse if you plug it in.

      • +4

This, it's a great mouse, I don't care too much for gaming on PC however it's still a nice device.

Using it with the charge pad too.

    • +11

Logitech claims they are as fast if not faster than a wired mouse, for me any difference is unnoticeable but it feels a lot better to use without a wire there

        • +11

Logitech Lightspeed wireless has been independently proven to be faster than or the same as wired mice.

@Tacooo: If it was sponsored content, they'd have to tell you by law so uh; I believe it.

          • -1

@BradH13: those results aren't statistically significant given a sample size of 5, and given the monitor has 4ms frame time, you can expect a variance of 4ms in results, nice effort but that's broscience

        • -2

Hey you do realise a 5G connection is faster than cable broadband?

          • -6

@Ryanek: You do realise that has nothing to do with this topic?

            • @Tacooo: Yes it does. It dismisses your notion that something that is wireless is slower.

              • -3

@Ryanek: Latency on the same distance over cable would be faster, with less noise. The only reason 5G is faster than cable broadband in your scenario is because of higher multiplexing on 5G and less distance to travel.

              • +2

@Ryanek: That's such a shit example and comparison. Both completely different technologies of wireless and wired applied to vastly different hardware.

You could have just spent 1 second googling and linking the test by Gamersnexus to disprove the misconception of wired > wireless.

        • You certainly can beat a physical connection if you dislike having a wire dragging at you, especially when you're using low sens which means a 180 turn is about a 40cm swipe for me.
I've got this mouse, and whilst my reflexes might not be superhuman like yours obviously are, I can't tell the difference between this an a wired mouse. After you've used a decent wireless mouse, you can't go back to a wired one.

      • +1

claims they are as fast if not faster than a wired mouse

They're both the same speed, you cannot refresh faster than 1ms because that's the limit of USB connection.

    • +1

I have several series of the wireless logitech mouse and i find no problem with the lag. One of the biggest issues however is the battery life. You will need to charge it once a day…

      • +1

Some are better than others with batteries, some seem to go a looooong time.

Turning RGB on my Corsair Mouse on my HTPC is a sure fire way to kill the battery every other use.

      • +1

Makes the "Powerplay" pad look a little more tempting.
I have just been plugging it in when done with it and seems to work ok. Would be nice if there was just a dock you could sit it on that was cheaper than the Powerplay pad though.

        • Yea the powerplay is surely tempting but doesnt work with my current mouse.

        • I use this mouse with the Powerplay pad, and I do not notice any latency whatsoever. Almost tempted to buy one of these to have as a spare.

      • I have the G900 and I haven't done any explicit tests, but I know that it definitely lasts longer than a day.

    • I have the 900. Amazing mouse, zero noticeable difference in lag between wired and wireless. The only annoyance is when you have to occasionally go back to wired to charge it. After using wireless for a while a cable is really noticeable.

      • I just occasionally plug mine in overnight. I never actively use it while it's charging.

    • Best mouse I've ever used. Zero lag at all and it improved my skills in Siege & CSGO immeasurably

  • +8

Seems like Logitech released a newer version of this mouse with HERO sensor. This is probably why they're selling this this cheap.

    See the comparison: https://www.logitechg.com/en-au/products/compare.html?catego…

    • +1

I'd imagine, unless there's actually professional gamers on this site that are also trying to game on a budget (that's a nice of a niche market) the difference definitely wouldn't be worth the extra money….

      • +2

Agreed. I have the G900 and it's still working perfectly. But wouldn't mind to snatch one of this as a backup.

        • I love it, most comfortable mouse I've used in ages, even for a ambidextrous style, normally I loved the traditional right hand curved mouses.

          • +2

@scuderiarmani: I've been using a G502 Proteus core from sometime mid 2014 and have just gotten this due to finding it for a decent price (otherwise was just going to get a G502 hero when they go on sale for $69). Aside from changing to new teflon feet it's been an awesome mouse but have been looking to replace as it is aging.
I didn't think I would like the ambidextrous style after using and loving the g502 for so long, but it doesn't really feel too much different anyway surprisingly. I do however find the button layout on the G903 a lot better and the ability to use wireless makes everything nice and neat.
Didn't really have to think twice at that price.

            • @AmperSand: I've tried others, wanted to get a ROG mouse to match other hardware but they were terribly uncomfortable, Corsair stuff looks pretty average for the most part too… think Logitech of all the mainstream companies really nails it, likewise with their non gaming stuff…

Grew up on the typical MS intellimouse of the 90s and have always taken to that shape, till this.

      • It'll have a PMW3366 sensor, it's already top tier. The difference would be in battery life improvement with the Hero.

    • +1

      The newer model is $250.
I bought this one for $150 a month ago and thought it was great , now it is $80 , what a bargain

  • +2
    • +2

That is the newer model with hero sensor

      • +1

Are you sure about that? I can't see anything on the Officeworks page that mentions it's the newer model, unless I've overlooked something?

Also - in my experience OW don't really do a huge dive into the price matches - would they pick up on the fact they have the newer model if it's almost identically named?

        • +5

Go to specifications. Check the model number against what is on Logitech's site.
Listing is for the Hero sensor version on Officeworks site.
          910-005087 = This mouse
          910-005674 = Hero Sensor version

          • @AmperSand: Ah yes, I see now, thanks for pointing that out!

            • +1

@MBix: Yeh i didn't look at model number , i just noticed the long battery life which is what you get with hero sensor

              • +5

@Rubber Duck: I just got office works to price beat for $75 and it's the one with hero sensor 😅

                • @david6509: nice work

                • @david6509: Good on you. I tried but was declined they say EB games have no part number so it is a grey import. That is BS :(

                  • -1

@ssp88: That is indeed BS. EB games is an australian retailer, and it is under Australian Consumer Law. That is literally the opposite of the definition of a "grey import".

                  • @ssp88: I thought they matched grey imports these days

                • @david6509: Is yours definitely the HERO sensor? I got Officeworks to price match but I noticed it's the old model (box says 12000 DPI), and the listing on their website doesn't mention HERO.

      • Would the staff know that?

        • +1

Tried the one in chadstone, Vic but got referred to the manager who found out the difference in model. However someone else has apparently got it done so ymwv

          • @rickyricardo6: Lol was literally about to go to Chadstone, thanks for saving me the trip :)

    • +1

Thanks for the link. Got the Price Beat confirmation from OW. I recommend calling 1300 OFFICE

      • Yeah need to do it over the phone they have no idea, friend had no problem doing it also (was the hero model)

      • called them just now, apparently the guy that answered knows about the sensor difference. he even mentioned they're selling the HERO "newer version"

        • guess they caught on

        • dang!

    • +1

Got the new one with the hero sensor price matching at Officeworks, thanks mate they didn't bad an eye!

      • +1

        nice one

  • Any deals for G703/G502?

    • +1

G703 is on sale for $79.95 too.
Much less stock, wasn't worth mentioning as a "deal".

      https://www.ebgames.com.au/product/pc/233869-logitech-g703-l…

    • I just bought the g502 wireless for 160 shipped from Catch.com.au
Was surprised that they had the best price by far.
I've used the wired g502 for years and it's nice to no longer have the wire but im not sure its worth the price for two reasons. It doesnt feel the same, although you can make it weigh the same the balance is different/it has a 'hollow' feel to it now.
And two, there is forced software needed for it (Ghub) rather than the old LGS. Normally that would be fine but once you install it LGS stops working and you are forced to re configure all your other stuff (headphones, keyboard etc.) to the new Ghub, which i found very laborious to do compared to LGS. On top of that, Ghub is (profanity) shithouse. It makes my headset randomly turn off mid fight almost once a per match, and I had to re-install and restart 3 times before I could finally access my microphone.

  • Well done to anyone who found any stock, got excited a bit early.

    • +1

Come on now, my nearest store with stock is only 594km away! Bargain mouse + I get a road trip!

  • +2

I used to own one of these. Excellent mouse all around, but apparently Logitech have switched from using Japanese made switches to Chinese ones a while back, leading to people having the 'Double-Click issue' after a short usage period. My double click issue occurred after a month of use, after which I had a refund for it under warranty.

    • The "double click" issue has been happening for as long as I've been using mice. It's caused by dust.

      • +1

In this case it actually is the switches. You can mod these and replace the switch with a better quality one.

        • Link pls? Mine is doing it and its out of warranty now.

          • +1

@Hero: Buy some Kailh Red GM switches from eBay (should be like $2 each or so). You just need to open up the mouse, desolder the old switches, solder in the new switches. I haven't done it with this specific mouse but I'm sure there are teardowns on YouTube.

            Good luck!

    • +1

I read about some of those issues before purchasing.
Logitech is usually pretty good with their warranties though. So 2 year warranty hoping if anything happens it will be before then.
Hopefully by then the original G903's will be phased out completely and they can replace with current model if any issues arise.

  • +1

    no stock at all

  • +1

yep only a couple in 'rural WA'

  • Actually found stock near me but dunno if its worth getting

  • I got the g903 with hero from officeworks 2 days ago for $152, for anyone looking for the new one.

Also got the powerplay mat from them as well for $141. Both through price beat.

    • $300 for mouse is a bit too much for me.

      • 152 for just the mouse, the powerplay mat is personal preference, I liked the idea behind it and I felt like it was worth it.

  • Nice, my g703 is still going strong after 3 years, but may as well upgrade at this price, $170 off

  • +1

Does the "Hero" sensor make much of a difference when used for gaming?

    • +1

it makes you feel like a hero and that can give a psychological edge

apart from that i haven't seen any credible evidence it makes a difference, which is weird given it should be easy to prove right?

    • marketing spin

  • G900 and still going strong… although this is a good option if you want to pair it with the power play mat.

If the hero's biggest game changer is power savings then this G903 + Power Play mat may well be a better option for some - especially if you basically never have to charge your mouse again. lol

  • no stocks in canberra :(

  • No stock in metro SA for the past week apparently

  • It possesses the same ability as the hero version, but has yet to realise it's full potential. Usually a quick montage towards the final third of the production is required to complete that step into true hero status

  • I have this mouse. I don't recommend it if you want to use it's full functionality. The middle two buttons for on the fly sensitivity change get stuck and have since I bought it. I was unable to return it for a replacement (one of those return first then we will send a replacement in 2 weeks dealios) because it was my only mouse and was in the middle of assessment for me. Could be a unique problem but I wouldn't buy it again.

  • +2

Just a warning. The micro-switches for the buttons on these mice are trash. I'm on my second G903 with "double click" issues (the microswitches sometimes double click when pressed).
I would've moved away from Logitech after the first one failed, but I had also invested in the PowerPlay mat.

  • I've had a G900 (model before this one) for a couple years now; it really is a gorgeous mouse. I've never had any issues with the wireless, the battery life is terrific, it feels great in hand, and there's no perceptible latency. I like that the forward back buttons are removable on either side, or can both be active. Logitech currently have my favourite clickwheels, being able to switch between ratcheted and free-spinning scrolling. RGB is a small, but nice, feature.
The only issue I had was with the first unit I received; the clickwheel 'clacked' from lateral movement, and the DPI buttons were unresponsive and mushy. No issues with the replacement unit, and Logitech support was fast and responsive.
If you want an ambidextrous mouse (with or without wireless), this is absolutely the best option, especially at this price.

  • +2

Managed to get it price matched at Officeworks.

    • How? Would you share your story please?

      • +1

Yeah, so I live close to a store with EBGames that have it in stock so Officeworks were willing to pricematch it (over the phone btw).

Got a conformation message too, money out of the bank will be ready for pickup in like 1-2 days

        • Lucky you :) I called the call centre twice they did not fall in it.

          • +1

@ssp88: Yeah, got pretty lucky because the person I talked to said before it gets confirmed that they were going to get someone else to double check first. 50 minutes later, I get a confirmation e-mail

    • I tried hoping they wouldn't pick up on it but they did…

  • +1

Guys, can confirm this is the latest with the Hero sensor!

    https://ibb.co/gS44TT4

    S/n: 910-005674

Just picked up from Belconnen, ACT.

    Absolute steal at this price!

    • Website says Belco and rest of Canberra are out of stock…. did you get the last one?

      • I guess so - ordered it as soon I saw the deal. I didn't ask if they had any more stock but it can't hurt to call them, given they might have alot of the newer sensor ones in stock rather than the old ones.

    • I think they accidentally gave you the wrong one, did yours scan at $80 or did you have to show them the online price?
      https://www.ebgames.com.au/product/pc/257345-logitech-g903-l…

      • I just paid online for click and collect - rocked up this arvo and she had it in the bag waiting for me

        • +2

yeah but I would assume someone bought the last of the non hero ones so they just grabbed a hero version off the shelf and put it in a bag. The boxes are very similar, it only mentions hero on the back in small writing

I think you got double lucky is all I am saying!

    • Haha nice work, you got very lucky!

  • Anyone check any OW store in Perth? I checked Subi they didn't match

    • I tried at Subi as well! :(
