  • Made in China…. What isn't made in China?

They are still not too bad pegs, but definitely not the quality of what they were before they were made in China.

I have some that are 34 years old and still fine.

Wow, that's great endurance. Do you take extra care with them such as bring the basket in the shade and dry when not in use?

Got some from Aldi a year ago and some snapped at first go, no kidding. Was not reckless or anything, the high tensile metal springy plate just snapped in half.

One of my biggest gripes is when some plastic part breaks easily without excess abuse or wear and tear, just cheap light duty plastic used sometimes even in newer quality goods. We know that many things made of/with plastics in the 70's/80's and 90's used to often be stronger and last. Often they say in the name of customers wanting things smaller and lighter, but I think most of the time it's just cost cutting. Rant Over lol.

Some have broken (so you can make two broken pegs into one) and the darker colour ones are showing more UV damage than the white ones, but they have plenty of life left in them. I only have them on the line when using them. The rest of the time in a bucket in the laundry.

The years old ones were made in Australia and are extremely durable. These new ones are literally just adding more plastic to landfill.

      • Do you have a better alternative?

Aldi do a range almost identical. I say almost identical, because if placed side by side, they look and feel so so similar. HOWEVER, the Aldi branded pegs simply don't last. The Reva brand are excellent. Sure some succumb to the weather over time, but I lose most that land on the ground and get eaten by the lawnmower. Definitely my go to pegs.
