For the next 7 days, Spaceship Voyager has doubled their referral bonus to $10 for both referrer and referee once a minimum $5 has been deposited by the referee.

  • Referral system has been purged, users notified and program updated. All codes in the system are updated from today onwards. On a side note, my app says the referral system is over so referring must only be for a select group.

    • I think if you see that message then you need to update your app?

I remember having that screen a while ago but now I see the new referral scheme.

      • App is up to date and website shows same thing.

EDIT: Website & app have now been updated to show referrals.

    • FYI Still available if you login via the web platform.

    • Why were the codes purged? Gives an unfair advantage to people who saw this early and updated their code as people going through the referral system would have had less codes to draw from?

      • Codes changed. Read comments below.

    • Codes have again been changed after this promo finished. All codes expired, users notified and program updated.

So, 2hats spaceship voyager? 2nd cousin to the enterprise?

  • Check your referral code, as the code for me changed.

  • +1

Where do you put the referral code?

  • +3

Like this, No fee compared to Raiz.

    • +1

      A charity then?

      • No fee on balances below $5K.

Above $5K low fee of 0.05% or 0.10%.

        • +2

These fees depend on which portfolio you choose:

Spaceship Index Portfolio: Any amount above $5000 they charge 0.05% p.a.
Spaceship Universe Portfolio: Any amount above $5000 they charge 0.1% p.a.

That means any account under $5000, there are no fees charged.

Some mention the old code in Ozbargain had expired. Mod: Removed solicitation

I notice the code changed for this new offer and confirmed by Spaceship support that new promo generates new code.

Not sure if you use the old code will get you the $5 bonus or this $10 bonus (until Feb 23). I am still waiting for SSV to reply back.

Where to go to add Referral code AFTER sign-up:

    In mobile app:
Go to Account -> Referrals -> Enter Referral Code

    On Website:
Go to Account (bottom left) -> Referrals -> Click on "Click Here"

    • It doesn’t seem like at sign up you can add a referral code?

      • On sign up, the referral URL that is randomly selected via the link (below my post) would normally add the referral code to it, however as some people have mentioned, the referral code has been updated so some people’s referral code may not be valid anymore.

In which case, you may have to manually add a valid referral code in the app once you have registered.

If you check your transaction history, it should show if a code was applied or not, at least that’s from what I can remember.

What am I supposed to be seeing on this page? All I'm getting is a "You have not made any referrals." message here.

When I clicked on the random referrer button, it just gave me a code to paste, no link to click on.

      • Refresh the page

        • +1

Refreshing didn't work for me, but I can do it from the app instead.

  • +1

can you withdraw the deposited funds and bonus immediately? any minimum withdraw amount?

    • +1

It usually takes 3-5 business days for money you deposit to go into your Spaceship portfolio. However, in the transaction history you will see the funds and deposit confirmed and in the process of transferring. Once the money is in the account, you can withdraw it and I believe this also takes 3-5 business days.

great app and platform , just love it.

Great way to invest regularly over the year rather than holding money in a savings account.

I use it to store money then move into the classic Vanguards when it reaches $5000.

Though if you like their assets it's still good value to stay in over $5000.

    • I feel that the fee structure for Spaceship Voyager is unsustainable. They are still essentially a startup that would be burning through money.

Still good for putting your "spare change" into it for no fee.

      • +1

I've debated this for a while, I think there's potentially a few reasons for doing this:

        1) as a funnel for users to their super product (expensive)

        2) to boost AUM for super regulation (idk)

        3) upsell people later on different funds.

        4) annihilate Raiz then Jack prices

        • Don't forget you give them funds to invest into one of their universe/index fund right? You don't get the stock dividends, but they do.

Not complaining, just pointing out another fact that should help them stay afloat.

          • +1

@kc7: I don't know this for sure, but I think dividends are incorporated into index price - otherwise customers would request to invest in stock with no dividends.

          • +1

@kc7: They make an annual distribution to unitholders - and reinvest dividends

Great for starters with low investment to get started.

Brokers in US now offering zero trading fee but they have commision (i think) from the companies where they generate income.
In Australia, it maybe be different.

I hope their model is sustainable to help starters invest as early as possible.

Over 5k investment with 0.1% fee is still cheaper than other brokers.

      • It's cheaper than the brokerage any person will pay to buy some of these shares… not a sustainable business

        • Yes charge 5% and do a face to face or over the phone transaction, thats what the Bentley owning brokers want :D

        • Hopefully it is sustainable enough to maintain zero trading offerrings.
I think they have less over head since they are relying on robo advisor / AI to deteremine what goes into their portfolio.

        • I've been thinking about this today - they're obviously not buying and selling indexes each time customers cash in or out, they probably have deals/relationships to adjust their holdings in response to demand every once in a while. They could quite easily minimise their own fees charged that way, and clip the ticket of their customers.

I don't know whether it is sustainable, but you could probably make it work.

    • @anglais CGT event when moving the money though…

      • HODL for over 7-10+ yrs. for kids future. Or maybe i can put my kids little savings into this investment than leaving it in kid saver account.

I prefer to pay CGT which means you are earning than not at all.

Most are put off when they knew they will pay CGT/tax to gov for earning something.

Not sure if this kind of investment applies the 50% discount (like buying individual shares) on CGT when you hold it for over 1 yr.

        • +1

Yes it does apply. Which is why it's prudent to sell after one year. And that means only selling portions of $ invested after 366 days holding those amounts. If you get what I mean

          • @Oofy Doofy: I think, rather than selling every year, sell when its over a year and when your income is lower (below ~18k total) or no income like when you are already retired.

            • @atlinus: I should have said, sell after 366 days if you're looking to move set portions of money across to something else and don't want to pay the full rate of CGT.

  • Under my "refer a friend" in the app it says "the season of the take flight program has come to and end" and i have no referral code. I've already deposited a few times this past month. Anyone else have this issue?

    • I had this issue but logged in again later and the page had updated both on the app and website.

    • +1

I've just signed-up and I'm getting that same message.

    • +1

Yes, some referal codes are not even showing up on your account (web or app). SSV support says they are in the process of updating referral codes for everyone.
They raised to their tech team.

  • +1

Got my referral code back in the mix, unfortunately I had my old code clicked seven times and no one actually fulfilled the requirements to give me cash. Come on people!

But I will be using this to sign up my wife. I am going to have deposits put into this instead of low return insurance and I'm pretty sure I will see a better return.

    • I've updated my referral code twice in the past week, they seem to change them fairly frequently.

    • Same here, but you do have to realise that $5 minimum deposit means you're probably going to get a lot of clicks without any follow-through.

I tried looking through their website to look for historical fund performance, but couldn't find anything.

I just wanted to know the difference in performance between Index and Universe. Can anyone please point me to the right direction?

    • +1

Can't remember which one I have, but it's up 39% this year - pretty impressive.

      • +1

Thats for Universe. It is Year to date means perfomance for htose who started a year ago.
Universe has higher risk, higher reward than Index.

I talk to SSV support to recommend features to show the performance of your curent portfolio and not Year-to-date performance.

        • Weird they picked YTD performance to show. 39% for Universe is pretty alright, given last year was a good year for US and AU stock market in general.

  • No fees when getting started sounds good. Worth a crack. Have been running a small amount on Raiz.

Used 'Alexandras' code. Enjoy the dollaridoos.

    • Even if you pay fees for Universe portfolio of 0.1% for 10k investment is only about $10 for a year.
      - that is like Raiz 4 months worth of fees ($2.50/month) and CBA pocket 5x transaction

Hopefully it is sustainable for Spaceship to keep the business going.

  • Do they provide daily historical chart of the combined shares in their portfolio?

    • Yes, but it's a very high level graph with options for 1/3/6/12 month X axis scale.
You can scroll through the daily values if you really wanted to.
Can't see any way to export the data.

      • You only need to look at the historical Unit price of your portfolio.

I only look at individual stock performance in the portfolio to have an idea of stocks i want to buy individually using other broker platofrm.

        • Where can you find it? Is it only after you joined and use the app?

          • @leiiv: Yes, oncectou join you can see the unit price, historical graph and perf.

Then you can decide how much you top up and how often

  • Seems odd that it takes 3 - 5 days to get money in?

Used a code on here so some random has $10 coming to them!

    • Yeah, I used to have direct debits setup with them and sometimes the 2nd weeks payment comes out without the 1st weeks one being credited.

  • Does the $5 deposit goes into a fund?

    • Yes.

  • +1

Great app, I recommend it to anyone interested in investing but not sure how to start. You can deposit any amount you feel comfortable and unlike Raiz there are no fees under $5000.

  • Do you guys have to give them your internet banking login name and password? I find it to be a bit dodgy. Why do they ask for internet banking password?

    • +1

You can enter the details manually if you are hesitant.

      • +1

Yep you’d be crazy to provide your Internet banking details. Note: if you do provide your details “manually”, they do ask for proof via email you own the account e.g., a recent statement.

        • Poli uses it, your better off having a separate bank account for online stuff anyway.

  • +1

Surprised they're not required to highlight the risks in this. All buried in the fine(ish) print.

Risk profile High - the potential for higher returns in the long-term than lower risk investments, however the potential for greater returns is generally associated with higher risk and volatility.

Also interesting that they haven't updated the portfolio holdings since Dec 12th. Universe portfolio seems quite tech focused which is great for growth but a little scary. The index has 100 selected largest international shares - note that this includes a lot of O&G and miners, not to mention Philip Morris.

  • +1

I used 'Rohans' code, 10 bucks for you in a few days.

  • btw, I haven't done deeper DD, but what happen if these startups company goes bankrupt? What happen to the assets?

    • They get taken over by another company or sell their assets to give back the money. they have chat support on their app, easy to ask question.
