You don’t want to be a loner on your birthday walking around a zoo for a $1 or do you? How much for a friend/family?

    • +3

Some people maybe tired of those all cruel human and prefer to surrounded by animals on his her special day.

  • Whats the saving?.

    • +2

Looks like its usually $44.10 for adults, $35.10 for concession

  • +2

People with at least two people with birthday on the same day save the best. Start practicing ozbargain, try to have your kid born on the same day as you or wife.

Just went to Taronga last Sunday using the half price tickets. Was a bit of a sad day, many areas in the zoo weren't even open…

  • -4

Wouldn't go to Tarongo zoo if they paid me. Pitiful excuse for a zoo.

    • +1

it's a not for profit zoo, and i get zoos in general keep animals trapped, but there are a lot worse zoos out there, go to any 3rd world country zoo and you'll realise

      • +2

i get zoos in general keep animals trapped

There's this strange theory that animals would prefer living a short brutal life in nature rather than a long safe life in a zoo.

      • go to any 3rd world country zoo and you'll realise

Go to Adelaide and you'll realise. Hippos with tiny swimming pools, lions living on a small patch of lawn.

  • They charge $2 if you pay by card. The dollar actually goes into a donation box on the ticket counter. You're not actually buying a formal ticket. You get a VIP badge (to keep) so that the gatekeepers and everyone else (e.g. gift shop) knows it's your birthday.

(I only had a bunch of $100 bills on me, the lowest denomination I bother carrying, so that's what I paid. I had such a great experience that I donated a few more of those bills on the way out. You can throw in just a $50 note or less, it's just how I roll.)

    • +2

So what's the highest denomination you carry then? I :)

  • Too late. Mine was yesterday.

    • next yr?

looks like Tarongo zoo hates people born in Jan!

    • I don't know why you were down-voted, unless by someone who thought you should have read the T&C's. I thought you were right to be annoyed, but apparently this deal has been available since 1/1/2018, so there was plenty of time for the January-born to apply. I didn't know either…

  • What animal is that in the main image?

    • +2

Looks like a tree kangaroo of some sort.

    • Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo

No idea, but it's delightfully retarded expression makes me happy.

      • me too, someone got triggered by your word

        • +1

When people pretend to be offended by everything I can't even pretend to care about them.

          • @cfuse: I mean my girlfriend is retarded but i still love her

      • Yeah. The doofus of a critter is eyeing that dollar coin like an OzBargainer eyes an Eneloop.

  • +1

You will also get a nice, big Taronga Zoo "I'ts my birthday" pin badge that you should wear at least when crossing the gates (though you will be asked for the receipt anyway). I was positively surprised with the badge - it's a cool souvenir :-)

BTW, when paying with card, you'll be charged $2.00 ;-)

***EDIT: just noticed that I literally repeated somebody's comment above. It wasn't intentional.

  • Both my and my wife's birthday is in Dec. But the voucher is only valid until 30th Jun 2020 really wish they would extend it from July this year.

    • +1

Register/claim vouchers by 4:30pm 30 June 2020. Vouchers are valid on your birthdays in 2020.
