imagine what your amazon/google devices are doing

      • You do know Ring is Amazon?

        • +2

yes, i'm not condoning the actions of ring. i'm just noting the lots of other devices are spying on you as well. hell, as soon as wifi/4g comes on your android phone it is phoning home.

and the article says the law-enforcement agencies could use ring devices for surveillance. i wonder if other devices in your home could be used for similar purpose.

          • @c64: They're introducing an opt out for the law inforcement part. I think it's useful, neighourhood watch on demand.

@c64: The actual issue was that a setting for 2FA wasn't on be default, and people were using reused password/weak passwords.

"If you are happy to share your personal data"…… Well you are on the internet

so I need to pay $203 to "share" my data? lol

    • +1

Or you can pay thousands each year on phone and home internet and share your data that way too.

  • is toby legit ?

    • Yup, they don't always have stock even though they say they do, but you will get it eventually. Ordered a phone from them 2 weeks ago and paid for express, after 2 days of no updates i emailed them and they told me it will be back in stock the following day and they refunded me the extra $25 i paid for express shipping and told me they would send via express for the muck around. The phone was in stock the next day and it arrived 4 business days later.

If you have patience they are fine.

  • Are they any good beside the "security" issue? I have an outdoor solar camera doesn't quite cut it. Need additional camera for the front. Thanks.
