    $1.29 at Officeworks for reference..

Thank you but the petrol to get there and back would cost more than the price of the scissors.

      • +5

Don't forget Amazon's supply chain has to incur at least the same amount of petrol and probably more resources with the packaging, etc.

So while you save some money yourself, you're harming the environment. Obviously if you need it, then go for it, but don't buy it just because it's cheap.

Also, if you can plan, buy it from OW when you're next near one.

        • +2

It's still a good deal, as more economical than individuals drivi bg to and from OW's. I dud not buy as I have sufficient scissors to hand. As for packaging I always recycle / repurpose as much as possible, especially as I am selling old items on eBay. I don't buy packaging materials. Never received any complaints about using recycled packaging.

        • -2

          Well said!

        • -3

Thanks for the lecture, and for your permission for others to buy things. We'd be lost without you.

      • +3

Only if you're paying for Prime this is "cheaper".

  • +2

thanks OP, bought 10. Yes, seriously.

    • +14

Fair enough. Scissors are high up on the unexplained disappearance list, just below pens and socks.

    • +2

      Did you seriously need 10?

      • +2

skinnywombat said it all above. :)

      • +2

it's for his artificial humanoid, Edward. Hopefully he lives to finish it.

        • +1

I miss the good old Johnny Depp.

    • Thanks
      I missed out

  • Does the size 17cm refers to the blade size or the whole length?

    • Neither?

      Product Dimensions 1 x 7.5 x 20.8 cm

      • +1

So the whole length is 17 centimetres and the packaging adds 3.8 centimetres.

    • lol. imagine a pair of scissors with a 17cm blade.

      • this pair already looks quite sinister…

  • Can't add to cart.

  • Hopefully no one is going to get Amazon to package these, in their huge boxes, and them deliver them on their own? It's such a waste of resources.

    • I’ve always received the right sized boxes from amazon.

    • These would come in a postpak from Amazon.

    • Sadly there are some shops or suppliers or manufacturers that do ridiculous packaging like a business card sized plastic pocket for literally one nut or bolt. Didn't matter if you bought a box of 100 inside; still individually wrapped.
When I bought a couple dozen AAA batteries to maximize the shipping value, it was a big box with each battery in a small plastic bag.

  • none left.

  • +7

I tried to call Amazon to confirm the price but was cut off.

    • +1

You called to confirm the price on a $1 pair of scissors?

    • -2

Why are you calling? It's listed so just click buy. The worst that can happen is it gets cancelled (unlikely) and receive a $5 or $10 promotional credit applied to your account.

      • +4

        Woooooooosh…..

        • +3

πŸ˜… damn just got it. Beebababadibo

  • sold out? cant add to cart

      Thanks skinnywombat.

I only need one. If there's a couple of people in Brisbane who want to share please send me a PM.

      • I've had to replace scissors a lot. Keep them as spares when they start loosening up and what not.

  • Can't believe I missed this deal 😡

    • +6

Yes. It was a cut above the rest.

    • +3

Yeah me too I'm so cut about it.

  • I got on this deal early while it was in stock, even went through shopback and placed the scissors in the basket and went to checkout……then stopped. I don't need a 4th pair of scissors.

    • I had six pairs of scissors that were bought to be exclusively for my use after I complained about scissors going missing at home. All six have now disappeared too. I need a bank chain for scissors, like the ones they use on bank pens.

      • +8

Have you checked in the 3rd draw down in the Kitchen. The one usually full of crap you forgot was there?

        • +6

Haha omg too funny because mine is actually in the 3rd drawer

          • +2

@Lucille Bluth: Ours are in the 4th. πŸ™‚

              • +1

                @Lucille Bluth: Confirmed. Haha

              • @Lucille Bluth: Lol. Our 4th is mostly stationary type items, with the odd "where do I put this stuff?" conglomeration … even the disused fridge magnets and odd bits of dead coral from 20 years ago. Yes, when in doubt just stuff it in the 4th drawer. πŸ™‚πŸ––

My replacement globes are retained in a repurposed shoe box …

                • +1

@JediJan: Haha. I got bottles of beach sand from decades ago when it wasn't frowned upon. Totally get the coral stuff

              • +2

@Lucille Bluth: Lol. Selfie stick from this deal

                • @MS Paint: This week the damn wire from that selfie stick somehow got locked inside the dishwasher and I couldn't open that draw fully until the cycle finished πŸ™Š

        • +1

          Nah, second draw down

Everything fits in the second draw down..

          • +2

@SBOB: I’m keen to hear what sorts of crap are in your lower drawers.

          • @SBOB: You have not been buying enough of those OzB deals.πŸ€”

How does Amazon afford it (with shipping) even after considering the revenue from Prime?

    • They take a loss to control the market sooner or later they'll jack the prices

      • I doubt if they jack the prices permanently at any point though.. Even after their maturity in a market (i.e. with increased market share), their prices still keep moving from super cheap levels to reasonably high levels, similar to how they move now on different days/ weeks - seen it in the US and some other markets too. So the question still remains.

    • +1

making money is not their #1 priority. It's market dominance they are after. Once you dominate the market after eliminating your competition, you can easily make as much money as you desire.

      They're playing the long game.

  • +1

    Are these suitable for running?

    • +5

Into your mother in law? Most definitely.
