Not a bad price, although the E350 isn't really a high performance CPU. At least it comes with 4GB of RAM.

    • Yeah I checked there first before posting it here. I also found the ones for $460 and up, but they all only had 2GB/320GB compared with 4GB/500GB for the JB version. So this one seemed like a good deal for more than $60 less and free delivery.

No review of e350 laptop has been favorable, they struggle playing 720p video. The subpar CPU is a deal breaker.

    • +2

That isn't true, the E350 has great graphics and will play 1080p, let alone 720p.

There are plenty of good reviews of E350 based machines and the Radeon HD6310 graphics is quite capable for an entry level notebook.

      • Realistically, you would be using your big screen TV which is optimized for HD, not a small laptop screen. It is still comforting to know it can churn out 1080p without a hitch.

        • unless you aren't near a big screen tv or you don't have a big screen tv

maybe you're thinking of the emachines em350 netbook?

e350 was meant to be a low powered netbook processor though

there is a refresh coming, e450

I applaud Toshiba for giving value here, bigger screen + dvd drive + full keyboard,
asus 1215b can go rot away for all I care lol

$350 will surely move these units out of the warehouse…

    • Is a bigger screen really a luxury?
I was led to believe people were paying a small premium to have a smaller screen on their laptop for more portability and less bulk. e.g. 14" as opposed to 15.4".

check the premium on apple macbook pros, you wish the 17 inchers were cheaper.

so does the extra inches matter? ask your wife/gf/ego

  • Battery life?

  • Any idea how long it takes to ship it ?

Never ordered anything from JB online before !

    • Find a JB to go into if you can, even if it's in a few days' time it'll be in your hands before an online order. That's my experience with their free delivery anyway.

To be truthful, I'd be keeping my eye on OrangeIT et.al. for recurrence of their Lenovo specials on i3 laptops if you're looking to buy at this price point…IMHO the e350 technology shows promise but performance seems to be let down by its immaturity across a broad spectrum of tasks.

As annoynimous says, IIRC they were indeed only ever meant to compete with the Atom class processors but in this class of machine they tend to be up against generally better performing low-end c2d's & i3's. That said, the pending refresh may well be a different story if they address the CPU cores deficiency! ;)

  • I'd grab it if it was around 13", a bit too large for me. Positive from me anyway.

    lol toshiba

2 usb, 10/100 and no hdmi

giving you the netbook experience in a 15" frame

    • It is a basic machine. Not much room for expandability.

      • problem with that is their competitors give you more for same money… doesn't everyone have a cheap 22"+ hdmi lcd? even netbooks have hdmi, GbE and 3 usb these days

  • does this one comes with HDMI port?

    • "Yes it only has an AMD E350 CPU, 2 USB ports and no HDMI, but seems reasonable enough for the price"

  • hey i thought this was a good deal as well..

    until i just bought a

    -2nd gen i5 (sandy bridge)
    -750gb hdd
    -4 gb ram
    -nvidia GT 520M dedicated gpu
    -hmdi
    -usb 3.0
    -6 cell battery

for $505 from OW (acer 5750G)

but im thinking to take it back because i hate that acer looks :(
    i think it looks ugly:(

    • Which OW did you but that from? Don't see it on their website

  • link says expired.

    • Yep looks like they sold out early.. I've modified the title and expiry date.
