    Resolution: 2560 x 1080 in description

  • +2

1080p - doesnt mention refresh rate

  • +21

    2560x1080
Literally the reso of stapling two old 17" 1280x1080 LCD together.

    • +4

      Sorry its 1280x1024 not 1080!

  • +13

Got some at work. Beware they are a tad 'pixelly' so the text doesn't look quite as good as on a 4k screen etc. And it's so wide it kind of fades to a light grey on the edges . Good price though.

    • +5

After going 4K, you can't go back..

    • +3

2560x1080 at 34" doesn't look good in general.

    • I recently tried a 32" 16:9 1440p and even with that increase I still found text on Windows really hard to read compared to my 43" 4k so I went back to that (was trying to downsize because it is overwhelming)

      • +1

What's your 43" 4k? I'm looking for something around that size.

        • +1

LG 43UD79-B IPS anti-glare matte screen with builtin speakers, remote control, 4x HDMI and Display Port. Tbh my current is still rather impressive although lacks inky blacks and 43" is kinda 3" too big and you need about 80cm desk depth (I'm closer towards 70cm due to curved desk)

          • @backslashio: I absolutely love my 43UD79-B and so does my coworker. Wouldn't trade it for any other monitor. I hope they release a 144Hz version for when I eventually get back into PC gaming.

            • @deanylev: I WAS planning to replace it with a VA curved 32" 165hz but the nearly unreadable 1440p text turned out to be a deal breaker. Shame as it would've been sweet for gaming, monitor was better for a Steam box/console than a PC

          • @backslashio: Thanks. I need something to replace a ten year old 40" LCD TV so 43" would be fine. The ASUS VQ is winning atm

    • this. anything over 22 ish thats 1080p is unbearable for me after my 34" 1440p

  • -1

Oh Sweet Tv for a good price just what every one needs right ?

That's probably from running an LCD at a non supported resolution mate.

        • +10

          Not your mate, mate

If only you could understand how ironic that sounds.

        • +7

@Alex01 - We're all mates here. Maybe you don't belong here?

      • Non supported or non-native?

        • +2

          Native

      • Non native not non supported

    • Smh..

  • +2

    This res is rubbish

    • Should try 320x200 on 12“, for old time's sake.

      • +3

Leisure Suit Larry looked amazing! Made those censored pixels pop!

        • Al sent me

          • -1

@ChocolateTown: OK, something strange happened. AS I'm about to click and check what the 2nd response was, Ken Sent Me popped into my head. Then I read this.

My subconscious disturbs me. Shouldn't have played this, watch nightmare on elm St etc at 10yo.

            • @Ulysses31: Let’s add to the subconscious fun? My brother’s name is Ken, I love cats, I mentioned Assange to my partner this morning randomly, and I watched NOES (Dream Warriors) as a six year old…

(Doesn’t mean much other than us being from a similar time and place, but is still fun, no?)

Would highly recommend investing an extra $100 for QHD https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-34-wqhd-curved-219-ultraw…

    • +7

Good luck with any warranty issues with kogan though

      • -2

Just as much trouble with Aldi post the 60 days as you have to contact the (usually) overseas manufacturer.

        • +2

No, at least LG will RMA the monitor sold locally directly. With Kogan, you're at their mercy.

        • +5

          This is incorrect.

The remedies you can seek from the retailer who sold you the product include a repair, replacement, or refund and in some cases compensation for damages and loss.

The retailer can’t refuse to help you by sending you to the manufacturer or importer.

          • +2

@OzzyBrak: Yes but the process is a living hell and time wasting

            • +2

@CheapOjoe: But we need to stand up for our rights, only way to force the retailers to make the process easier for the future customers. Otherwise there's no incentive at all for them to change their practices if we just bend over :/

          • +9

@OzzyBrak: I find Aldi are like Bunnings. They'll take anything back under warranty and just refund you.

            • @curtturtle: Our local Aldi allowed 60 days with receipt but asked for name and address and phone number.

After that the TV wasn’t their problem, call Bauhn customer service

          • -1

@OzzyBrak: Yeah right. Are you really going to spend thousands on legal fees over a $500 monitor?

        • +3

I have dealt with kogan for a warranty issue. They literally did not care or want to know me. Just because the ACCC exists doesn't mean they will follow the rules and laws.

          • +2

@Stinge Master: File a complaint with ACCC. If you have evidence either recorded phone call (allowed in Victoria, dunno about other states) or emails suggesting they don't care about the laws, then they will get shafted sideways by ACCC

            • +4

@aaronsd: Contrary to popular belief the ACCC don't do alot for individual cases. Besides the ACCC will point you towards your state Fair trading office, usually consumer affairs.

              • @PlagueistheCheap: Ah I see. So going through the state fair trading office will get somewhere then? At the end of the day the laws about warranty are pretty clear. I've honestly never had an issue with warranty ranging from computer parts to furniture from all kinds of stores online and physical. It can take some effort sometimes but I've never had as much resistance as some people on here have and have always got my genuine warranty claims sorted… Granted I've never tried with kogan (touch wood), I do keep hearing they are bad though!

                • +1

@aaronsd: Last time i checked in nsw they wouldn't actually enforce it, they may try to contact the vendor to mediate with you and reach an agreement.. But the way it was worded was that if they disagree it'd be up to you to take it further.. I'm guessing in court. Not worth my effort unfortunately, maybe before kids.

                  • @wozz: I think if the retailer won't play ball they depend on word of mouth to have them blacklisted aka - Kogan. I ended up in small claims court with a retailer once (not Kogan) and while the dollar cost was low it was a real time waste!

      • +1

No issue there if you can demonstrate the problem, I got a full refund.

      • +3

disagree, I've dealt with Kogan warranty and my experience was fantastic…. they paid shipping both ways and replaced the item, no mucking around.

  • 1080p tho, only a bit more for 1440p

    • -3

      1080p = 1920×1080
Totally different aspect ratio with this monitor which is
      2560 × 1080 = ultrawide 1080

      • The ultra wide accounts for the extra pixels though. It is effectively a 1080p at 27" in terms of pixel density.

      • Still not 1440

        • +1

Not sure why you got downvoted, it was pretty clear you were referring to the Ultrawide equivalents.

I’ve been using this monitor for the past two years.

Great for office, web and the odd photo touch up. It’s great for having three full screen documents/web pages open at the same time. The LG software is pretty good in divvying up the screen.

What’s not so great is that if the monitor goes to sleep, good luck trying to wake it. It could be a Windows or LG thing. Either way, there doesn’t seem to be a fix.

It has no height adjustment so I built a small riser to bring it up my height. It’s also not the most stable of monitors as it wobbles a bit.

I used to have two 24” monitors. I got this to make my setup simpler and tidier. Yes, I lost out on resolution but that was a trade off I was willing to accept.

    Overall, I’m pretty happy.

    I got mine for $350 secondhand. I think $399 is okay-ish.

    Hope this helps someone.

I have the model with height adjustable I found that the problem only happen when I try to wake it up by the time it just gone to sleep. If let it sleep longer before wake it up no problem.

I think curved screen is better.

      • I wish there was a proper fix. But there’s nothing on the LG website.

If i had the budget I’d definitely buy a curved monitor.

    • $400 for a monitor in my area is super expensive for most peoples taste - fingers crossed they get a bunch and they end up getting marked down! :)

  • If only it was 29", 1080p would be acceptable

    • +10

If only it was 2009, 1080p would be acceptable

      • +2

        Flip it on its side.

1080x2560 would be awesome for long documents.

      • If only this is 2009, FullHD was just getting started and was crystal clear at any screen size! Now its extremely blurry.

    • it would then also need to come down $150+
As i am currently using a LG 29" 2560x1080p IPS 75hz monitor i got like 2 years ago for $250

  • +6

    81.72 PPI, rubbish.

    A 27" at 2560x1440 would be comfier. - 108.79 PPI.

    • +1

I bet half the people happy with this monitor also think that 1560x720 is unacceptable on a 6.4" mobile phone (268ppi, using galaxy a20 as an example). Strange world we live in.

      • That's like 95% of consumers.

        • +1

Does that mean 95% of people can't think for themselves? Scary

  • Model number? Quick google search brings up LG 34WL500-B

  • +2

It doesn't feel like deal to me

  • -1

Don't use this unless you're legally blind or sit very, very far from the monitor.

  • -1

    1080p

    • +2

      I mean you're technically correct - it's 1080 horizontal rows, progressively scanned.

  • +2

Purchased the recent Aldi Medion 27inch curved and with a better pixel density than this monitor it still looked terrible. I had to return it as the pixels were very visible in comparison to my old Samsung. Good thing about aldi products is if you don't like it you can return it within 60days…

  • +1

Hmm, at that price not half bad, but not the best model.
