Has anyone ever paid for a Udemy course?

    • +2

IMO Yes Many people paid else Udemy won’t exist for longer if people do not pay for it & Authors won’t create courses which requires weeks, months or years of efforts.

    • A few, but always at like 25$ not the full price.

Yeah I've paid for a couple of udemy courses when they were on sale for like $12. Still didn't complete them. Turns out I prefer written courses.

I paid for about 8 courses and most of them have been useful so far. Saved quite a bit of time while learning angular and react instead of searching for what I needed on YouTube.

I also bought a few AWS certification tutorials which were pretty decent value considering that it costs the same to get a monthly sub for CloudGuru or Linux academy.

    • Yes, I bought one which was very reduced as I wanted the particular skill set and there are ways to do the skill wrong.

    • I paid for a few courses, good quality courses are rarely free on Udemy.

Yes, I did. I have paid for several courses. Find the best courses in each area and learn it! It is really cheap: less than $20.

I paid 300 USD for an SAP course, it was terrible and the guy hardly spoke English.
Udemy was excellent and granted a refund, so I'd pay if I had to for another course knowing a refund is possible.

    • I have at least paid for 15-20 courses. Sorry OZB won't be proud of me :/

    Thanks OP!

  • I'd rather do a course studying Monty Python

Ok .. who is Monty ?

  • If I am bored I might do a course

Honestly, most of these courses are subpar. Even the free photoshop courses are not good as they don't teach you the quickest, best way. You'll end up learning the slow method (which defeats the purpose of using Photoshop). Instead of using and holding the control key and do it in one step, you were told to go to layers, click the layer a couple of times to confirm, switch to select tool then move.

I get they are free, but if you really want to learn things, learn properly (from the best or at least decent courses). Your time is too valuable to waste on inferior courses.

    • so how can you tell which courses are better?

    Thanks for these.

  • Thanks OP
