Mavic Pro Platinum $899.39

  • For the guy looking for the Phantom 3 battery the other day, here it is.

Side note: do these guys have a website?

  • +1

Nice find. Wouldn't happen to know how much the Mavic air was? Covered by the sale sign in the photo.

    • It will probably be around the 500-600 Mark.. the standalone mavic air is $999

  • +8

I think they are the old Australian Geographic Shops?

What happened to the Australian Geographic Shops?
I almost bought something from one a few years back…

    • +8

I once entered one to ask where the toilets were.

      • How much did that cost?

  • +5

WARNING: Curious Planet are hopeless - I'm STILL waiting on a refund from their Raspberry Pie sale back in December - they managed the charge my CC twice for a single order, and no one there seems able (or willing) to sort it out and refund the $75 they owe me.

I've emailed a bunch of times, been reassured it would looked at, and nothing.

    • +16

      The owe $15 million. I don't think you'll be getting a refund.

    • +8

Do a chargeback with your bank. I had to do this to get my refund. Interestingly COOP refunded me early January so guess it’s a bonus for stuffing me around.

      • Done. Thanks!

    • +3

Bad luck, chargeback is the way. As mentioned in previous post people encountered the same issue on refund. Gotta fixed by initiating chargeback.

      • Done, thank you!

    • +4

Why havent you initiated the chargeback? You have given them enough time

      • Because all indications from my bank were that they'd cancel my credit card as part of the process and that's a big PITA for me to change everything over.

        • Eh. That’s what they did to me. Slight inconvenience to get back $53 or whatever it was.

        • +3

They should only cancel your credit card for fraudulent transactions. I've done chargebacks before for items not delivered when the seller wouldn't refund and continued with the same cc.

          • @twinbag: I got onto my banks customer support tonight after reading all the above comments, and confirmed the same - they don't need to cancel the CC. So I've submitted the chargeback request.

            Thanks for the help!

          • +1

@twinbag: Correct, though it seems some bank staff don't know the difference between a fraudulent charge and a chargeback for not getting what you paid for etc and treat it as the former…

    • They have this thing where if you have a gift card you owe them, and need to spend double the value of the card… What a scam.

      • You realise they are under no obligation to even accept gift cards now? Perfectly legal

      • This sometimes happens with gift cards when a company is going under. I remember Pumpkin Patch doing the same thing in their final weeks. Better than nothing, I guess. Borders also did it.

        • Pumpkin patch. Such quality clothes IIRC. We've had them as hand me downs and op shop stuff. Shame they are gone.

      • They're under administration. The whole situation is unfortunate but the alternative is they don't honour them at all, and you go down the standard creditor road. People with gift cards are creditors. They have a lot of creditors and under the current structure don't have a way to meet those obligations.

  • Finding stock is the biggest challenge. I was at MQ Centre and it's pretty much empty bar the crappy stuff. Parra was slightly better but no drones that I can find.

  • is 40% off even good? Most of these are very, very old models.

  • Mavic 2 was $1499. Managed to find one in stock however didn’t pull the trigger as I’ve already got the Mavic Platinum.

    • Was it the pro model?

    • If legit you could have sold it for $1800 easy.

      • It's legit i got the mavic 2 pro for 1499 and the fly more kit for 389

        • Where abouts did you purchase from?

        • Seconded. The one I got should be the last set in VIC, called all the stores.

        • Excellent price. Which store and when?

          • @bargainshooter: mount ommany same store OP got it from, though mind u i got it the day the 40% sale began and from what i've been told QLD is out of stock

      • I’ve seen brand new Mavic 2 pro drones on Facebook marketplace which don’t sell that quick and if I where to list on eBay for $1800 minus ebay and PayPal fee’s it would not be worth it in the end.

    sad

    • True…

  • I went into the Glen Waverley (VIC) store about a week ago when this first popped up. Bugger all stock left of the airs and most of the better models in Vic. They pretty much only had the yellow. So will be a struggle in Victoria if anyone is looking.

    • Mavic air in yellow?

      • Probably saw the Spark, which comes in yellow.

The Air comes in red, black and white.

      • Asked about any air models or bundles, but no luck at that time. I think it was 2 Saturdays ago

  • +3

I bought a small item here once for a gift to take overseas, found it cheaper at the airport!

  • +2

Bummer, that Mavic Air combo price is good. Paid approx $1300 only a few months ago. Great drone to travel with (other than the mosquito like propeller sound).

  • How much for the mavic air?? The sale sticker covered the price

    • +1

      799, not too good.

      • Has it been lower?

  • Didn't they just re branded? Like a month ago?

    • +1

Changed name as didn’t get the trademark of Australian geographic or something

  • I ordered something from these guys in November and they cancelled my order but it took almost 2 months and 10+ e-mails for me to get a refund.

    • +1

Thanks to all who posted about difficulty getting refund. I got a refund email for an order approx $100 and assumed the credit went through mid-Dec.

Just realised tonight after reading above that it never did. I’ll email them tomorrow. If no response I’m going into store and taking goods to that value! Ha! Take that! How’d you like them scientific apples?!

      • Chargeback. Don't stuff around.

  • Only order if you can get in the store and grab it. Otherwise you risk being another creditor who loses cash

  • +1

damn, ive been to about 3 Curious planets now. None of which have been as well stocked as yours lol..at least 80% empty

    • which ones have you been to?

  • Anyone checked stock of stores in Penrith or Paramatta?

  • FYI Hornsby (NSW) store does not have any DJI stuff left

  • +2

Elizabeth (SA) store says no DJI stock in SA.

  • Where is the next best place to get the Mavic Air Flymore Combo?

JB have it for $1,399 at the moment https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/dji-mavic-air-4k-drone-fl…

  • Called up every store in Sydney area no DJI stock :(

  • Damn wouldn't mind a platinum at that price!

    • +1

Got the platinum fly more combo at 50%. Very lucky!

  • Everything is now 50 to 70% off…

I have called all stores in NSW. They only have parrot bebop 2 with fpv at 50% off. So it's 500 down from 1000.

  • +2

    Called told me company wide

0 Mavic platinum pro fly more

    1 Mavic pro platinum

4 air's. (not sure which store)

    1 combo white. (store unknown)

Pacific fair QLD —- 1 black AIR combo.

    Warringa - 1 mavic 2p.

    • Is that Warringah in Sydney? called at 9.30 said there was no stock

      • +1

She said it was probably an error but it was showing it. Sorry about that.

  • None left at Mount Ommaney

    • A couple just sprinted in the store before me and grabbed the pro platinum. Only the phantom 3 left now.

Pac fair just sold the air

      • Did you end up getting a drone?

        • No. I think im giving up. Ever since missing out on the 298 bunnings one I've just missed out on every deal since. Can't deal with the rejection.

      • +1

They had another air out back. But it was most likely bought after I got some stuff.

        • You're kidding me.

          • @MickyJ87: i saw the couple waiting out front for 15mins before the store opened. not sure where you were though as they wernt sprinting.

        • that one I probably just bought. I dont really need one i just want to fly a bit and learn…good that saved money and didn[t buy a pro

    • just been there 1 hour ago and Grabbed last Mavic Air at 50% off. 650 AUD
Wanted to go this morning for a Pro but was lazy )))

  • Called earlier today and been told no DJI drone in Victoria, only a few sparks in QLD

  • Sounds like another DSE closing down sale. No stock anywhere don't bother

  • No stock of anything in Brisbane City. Only shelves left

  • Just checked out Carindale QLD and the cupboard is bare. Carindale also has a DJI shop so my conspiracy theory is someone from there bought them to get them off the shelf!

  • +4

Unbelievable. Just checked Facebook marketplace and there are so many unopened dji drones suspiciously listed today… Shame on some people.

    • Do they come with receipts for warranty!

      • I'm not sure?

    • Like I said people will do anything for cash these days

      • People have always done anything for cash - nothing new about that.

  • Went to 2 stores in the past day and also called. Was told VIC has no more DJi drones left.

  • Missed out on any drones (got Mavic prop guards for $13 though) but bought a load of Raspberry Pi stuff - Starter kit, another Pi, some cases, a power supply and other bits and pieces for just under $60.
