Seiko Limited Edition SRPD36J Cocktail $625 Delivered @ Starbuy

90

As you do at work from time to time, I found myself on StarBuy looking at watches beyond my current budget. This came up in the sale section, and it's been reduced from a RRP of $995 to $625. The movement isn't Seiko's highest end (it's a 4R35) but the dial. I have the Mockingbird Presage and all the Cocktail Time dials are just amazing. That gorgeous dial. Poets will write love ballads and bards will sing arias of your beauty. Just look at the photos here: https://timeandtidewatches.com/seiko-presage-srpd36j1-ssa392…

I think it was for $2xx something from Qantas store, way too expensive at this price.

    • any link? Just want to confirm.

    • But was it $2×× plus qantas points. If thats the case then its not realy a like for like comparison.

      • It was still cheaper, but not the same watch. This is a limited edition with extra strap etc.

I don't love it but these Seiko limited editions often go for good money in the future if you look after them.

I agree, I regret not taking the plunge on the Snowflake and Starlight versions of the Presage when they first came out, and now they're at least over $900.

          • @TheNewDeal: Yeah I want a snowflake cause I'll never afford a Grand Seiko hah

            • @Merlict: Maybe consider the SARB035 or SARB033? I've seen them second-hand for ~$450 and new for about $600. They're sometimes called Baby Grand Seikos. Otherwise the SARX055 for a higher-end "budget" Baby Grand Seiko (even though a SARX055 is around $1,700 so calling it "budget" is really stretching the term).

    • It was $320 something. The light blue cocktail was $250 something. I bought both. Here
      Edit: my bad, different models

A very similar watch going for 675 + 200 Qantas points

    • Link broken mate

    • I've seen that one before. The SRPB 46J has a sunburst dial similar to the original Cocktail Time, SARB065, but the dial on this is handpainted and has a different look. It's sort of similar to the Presage Starlight.

    • That's 2000 QANTAS points.

      • Yep another typo. Effectively +$10

  • hardlex is awesome

    • Lol

      • I quite like the visual design of this watch but there's other Seikos on that site with a metal bracelet AND sapphire AND they are cheaper…

I can only conclude this is expensive due to the LE status.

    • Can confirm, I have a scratch on my SKX :(

I bought the JDM ones from BIC Camera in my previous Japan trip for about $300. So if you’re planning on a Japan trip, you might want to consider buying there instead.

  • want the orange samurai to be on special again!
