Had this for 10 months now. Best smart watch under $200.

25-day battery life w/ heart rate on every 60 seconds, 100+ notifications.

    Custom watch faces > https://amazfitwatchfaces.com/bip/

Any 20mm watch bands with a clasp are compatible.

Display is always on (trans-reflective) the brighter it is, the easier it is to see!

Downside? no music controls unless you install custom firmware

    • do you have a link for the custom firmware? would like to give it a go!

      • its built into the notify and fitness app (android only)

    • Fantastic watch, but not really a smart watch hey. I got the gear watch active for $209 which is an actual smart watch, like replying and starting messages, music controls and music on the watch, BT connection to headphones etc etc.

Mine doesn't get 25 days, on average between 12-20 days.

      • I got 30 days in the first year and now it's about 10 days. Still good but I forget to charge it and run out of battery.

I can't seem to sync sleep data with Google fit.

Other than that, it's fantastic. Note: need additional 3rd party app to get WhatsApp call notification.

    • Thanks

  • Google Assistant?

    • Nope, can't install any apps on it or anything like that.

Sad that it still can't compare to a Pebble watch with the lack of notification replies and music controlling. Still, good price for someone not interested in those things. Nice looking smartwatch.

    • The new Amazfit Bip S has a colour screen and music controls. Not sure about notification replies though, not out yet.

      https://en.amazfit.com/bip-s.html

      • If it does, then once it drops to $80 or under, the ol' Pebble will finally have a contender!

  • I have one for almost 2 years now. Got it at a steal for around $67 delivered. It's a good watch for the price. GPS is a welcome addition for cycling etc. Battery life used to be 28 days for me if not using notifications / GPS for cycling, otherwise 2 - 3 weeks. Then 1 day it bricked itself (used the app to get it out of that state and after that the battery life went to around 7 days. 3 months ago the actual face popped off so I had to glue it back on and the backlight no longer works. But I still wear it, the notifications are good and the countdown timer is good at the gym for counting down between sets etc.

  • So over a miband this really just offers GPS yeah?

    • And you can see a lot more info on the screen.

  • new model announced at CES.. Amazfit BIP S - from what I read, slightly better screen

    • +1

Yeah colour screen, and can also control music. Not sure what other differences there are:

      https://en.amazfit.com/bip-s.html

      • This old one has colors on screen as well.. I can only see one difference, which is Bluetooth 5..

I think also IP68 (Bip) vs 5 ATM (Bip S) and more selections for activities on Bip S.

        • +1

This one has an improved range of colours and better screen according to Amazfit. It can also control music, unlike the original.

  • But how accurate are the sensors ?

  • noob question … whats e use of gps here? can it be used for tracking whereabout of the watch using another app?

    • For tracking distance in running, cycling, etc.

      • do you need to bring your phone with you to enable gps on the watch?

        • No, you don't. It has GPS in built.
